What is Matchmaking so bad right now?

Can someone explain to me why as an Ash 1 Killer, I'm getting ranked against:

Iri 3/Gold 2/Gold 2/Gold 1

Then Iri 2/Gold 1/ Silver 2/ Gold 2

Iri 1/ Iri 3/ Iri 4/ Bronze 3

It's been like this ALLLLL NIGHT. Like I can't catch a single break.

And its also SUPER FUN when they just insult me post game and call me trash :) And then I tell them they're being rude, I'm just trying to learn still, I get a very helpful "stop crying like a child and just play"

Like why are survivors SO toxic? Like yall will literally WIN EVERYTHING and somehow it puts you in a pissy mood to treat the killer like crap post game chat. And then survivors complain about 5min queues... can't imagine why there aren't more killers... hmm.. total mystery.

Oh well!

Guess I'll go back into my killer queue and wait to team up against a 4stack SWF who are all TTV players. I'm sure I can give these Rank 2 Survivors some SICK game play :) I mean I am ash ONE after all. Thats almost bronze ;)

First of all the visible grades have nothing to do with matchmaking. I thought after several months everyone would know that.

And second, bp gain in this event is bigger and easier on the survivor side judging by the comments on this forum. So a portion of the already small killer population switched to survivor and the matchmaking algorithm threw eveything overboard to reduce queue times. A mechanic that we know the devs have kept from ranked matchmaking and makes matchmaking itself obsolete.

Grades are not correlated to SBMM. And your SBMM does not correlate to skill.

And they are so salty probably cause killers like me are out there BMing the crap out of them while playing basement bubba and other assorted toxic builds 24/7.

Playing nice with survivors? Lol. Yeah, I did that like 4 years ago. Not worth the effort, never was never will be. I only play nice as killer if I want to get more bloodpoints. Otherwise, killing someone first hook is peak efficiency and I will do it every time I can.

If I was learning killer id probably disable the endgame chat and slap on NOED tbh. You will get 1 gg for every 10-20+ salty survivors. And you will get a person who compliments you for playing well as killer maybe 1 in 300 games. Endgame chat is almost purely negative as the killer, I only leave it on if I wanna hear some crybabies whine about getting camped.

i just have a hard time wrapping my head around it even after the time ive put into the game. i started doing customs for a while because my friends prefer it and i forgot that a lot of the player base is.. just a bunch of salty lips.

So you are admitting that you are being toxic and then saying you only get compliments 1 in 300 games? Any chance you might see a connection here? I play like a decent human being and get complements all the time and my average kill ratio is over 3 without NOED or camping :) All you need is to git gud :) Imagine that! Of course, if you have no skill, than do whatever floats your boat :)

If you don't like getting matched with people with 10x your hours maybe watch some more hockey to find out why it's actually good

who mentioned ANYTHING about hockey? i dont even know how to respond to that.

and i have 0 control over who i match up with in the queue. and im sure highly skilled survivors would enjoy going against a highly skilled killer, not curb stomping a baby killer.

They clearly loosened mmr quite a bit. It feels closer to the old game now. Kind of a shame. I will miss the tears.

I think that there's just so many survivors playing right now compared to killers that the entire system is backed up, and the chances of lobby dodges gets really high - leading to a totally busted situation. Either that or the SBMM system is under maintenance or something.

It's been bad since the event started.

The match making basically doesn't exist because the ratio of survivors to killers is so skewed in one direction. The match making prioritizes speed over accuracy, so it will widen its parameters wider and wider until it is basically accepting anyone it can possibly find. This is because there's very very few killers in the queue. They don't want players waiting 8 hours for a match so the system will put together a match it knows is unbalanced solely so it can get a match started. The only way to fix that is to inject more killer players into the system. And that isn't happening any time in the near future.

It will happen for a few days when the next Killer releases. Eventually all those players then realize that learning a new Killer, while only having access to a very limited number of perks because you haven't levelled the character yet, against Survivors whose only interest is to end the game as quickly as possible even if they end up with ~10k points (including the points from escaping) is not fun and then the queue times return to what they currently are.

Why are people still using grades to defend this argument 😐

Yeah the SBMM/MMR system is pretty broken. You either get a team/killer that is way above you skillwise or completely fresh to the game running like 2 rank 1 perks. Its very rare to actually get games that are around your skill level, especially as a survivor. I see many games as a survivor that are straight up unfair matching for the new killer.

I think the new emblem system is more of a how much time you've spent in the game. Its very easy to rank up and the more time you put in the more pips you get. It should however provide some kinda indication of the players experience & skill if they play the games legitimately because you have to do fairly well quite consistently. In theory as your MMR climbs so should your emblem status.
