Why are you not using the killswitch?
Were we not promised that the killswitch could be used if something was broken or abusable?
People have been complaining about RPD library griefing even before Boil over was buffed. Why has the RPD offering not been disabled? Why has Boil Over not being disabled?
Boil Over has been "monitored" for nearly a week now. Surely it doesn't need to take this long to pull that switch? It is broken and the only people that are defending it are either abusing it or they used it as a solo player and don't understand how to abuse it.
Oh and please remember that controller users cannot even get through doors if someone uses Boil Over. Last night I was on Lery's and picked up an AFK Boil Over user. I finally got them to the hook today around lunchtime.

Because boil over is clearly working as intended, to let more killers leave.
That's the goal and exact reason why it got released.

Lol

I do think the RPD badge should definitely be killswitched at the moment, until they can add a hook or two up there on the library.
One could argue that this still isn't what the killswitch is for because everything is working as intended - it's not broken OR abusable, it's broken AND abusable, things that are just broken in a way that only negatively impacts the user aren't killswitched for instance - but I think this is close enough to warrant using it. It may not be a bug that's being exploited, but it is still an exploit and it is still worthy of at least considering the killswitch for.

Because nothing is mechanicallly broken. You can still win the match by bleeding all 4 out
7 -
Did you know hooking survivors are biggest objective in this game.
3 -
Nothing is broken. Everything works as intended. You may not like the outcome, but not liking things is not a reason to use the Killswitch.
3 -
Because it is a survivor skill
2 -
If you have to bleed all 4 out to win a game, that surely warrants the killswitch.
1 -
Yes but not the only way to kill them. Remember MMR only tracks kills so hooks are irrelevant. According to their systems these games are easy wins
1 -
The killswitch is used for bugs that break the game and nothing else. If the perk is working as intended (which apparently it is), it won't be switched off.
1 -
Maybe but I doubt the devs see it as an issue. If they did then MMR wouldn’t be solely based on kills

Maps have been disabled for a single totem being uncleansable. I've escaped without being able to find Devour Hope before. It's difficult but not impossible. An uncleansable totem affects the game in a similar way as an exploitable perk or map offering.
5 -
Emblem tracks hooks and not kills though, according to their system unhookable game is clearly not fine.
0 -
Do you even know if bleeding out considered a "kill" after all?
If so, where did you get that information, I mean this by "bleeding out kill" and not "hook kill"?
0 -
It might genuinely be working as intended. I am not trying to be sarcastic, it is actually a viable reason to not disable it. They have some pretty backwards opinions, so it wouldn't shock me.
2 -
A yes, all the people saying that Boil Over is working as intended obviously have forgotten the Howling Grounds event. Where pallet stuns and flashlight blinds had been "fixed" to work during the whole animation. So no timing was required.

Is the emblem system used for matchmaking and stats anymore?

Here's the actual quote from the Dev Update.
"Last but not least, let’s talk about a game health feature: The Item & Character Kill Switch. With over 50 playable characters and their cosmetics, nearly 200 perks and hundreds more add-ons and offerings in the game, sometimes things do break. Rarely, things will break in a way that makes them exploitable, and that can make the next week or two before a fix really rough.
Enter the Kill Switch. (It’s actually a lot nicer than it sounds!)
The Kill Switch allows us to disable anything that’s causing an issue without needing an update. When something breaks and becomes exploitable, we switch it off until it is fixed. This is something we’ve been able to do with maps for a while now to great effect. Disabled items & characters will be clearly marked and cannot be selected.
What this means to you: When that one thing breaks and people start to abuse it, you won’t have to play against it for a week or two until there’s a fix."
I would say that not being able to hook someone (a staple of normal gameplay) due to a perk having unforeseen (or willfully ignored) interactions would justify the term 'exploitable' which would make the Killswitch an excellent choice since this is exactly what it's supposed to do.

Does it need to be killswitched though?
I am not against RPD being gone for a while but Boil over clearly works as intended. However annoying it can be
0 -
Every map with exploitable 2 floor structures, or the one perk.
Pretty sure removing half the maps from the game would be the bigger reaction.

I know this is facetious, because we're all burned on the devs now, but anyway:
RPD Fact #27 -
There are actually two (or more) totem spawns that are within Booning range to hit the RPD library. Great case use for Boon: Exponential!
I've already recorded the game, this is obvious not playing as intentional and I don't think Bhvr can ignore enough of the same repeated issue. What surprised me was how they were able to progress the game in such a way I had literally no counter to, as every pursuit from almost any gen position led back to the library, and obviously this was a coordinated SWF so who knows how much was communicated outside of the game. I've found the buff to this perk very annoying, but overall had no real complaints outside of having to slug a few games, but after that game I have no doubt in my mind this was an oversight...

It needs Killswitch, absolutely. A map offering, boon: exponential and a perk shouldn't stop you from playing the game
0 -
Why we have to care about matchmaking when game is clearly giving incentive to have more hooks by rewarding higher grade and using emblem system for it?
MMR is what we should not care because they are completely hidden (not intended to be known at all), emblem IS what is actually important.
0 -
Well sadly the devs don’t seem to see it as an issue as it hasn’t been disabled after about a week after release.
0 -
Because MMR is the only thing bhvr tracks when it comes to balancing. To them they probably see the kill rate on RPD is the same (or even more possibly) so they don’t bat an eye to it
0 -
Doesn’t stop you from playing the game anymore than a camping bubba will.
1 -
If Bubba camps, you get to plays a new game within 5 mins. Tell me, is it more fun to be camped by a bubba for 3 mins max, or be stuck playing ring around the rosy for 15 minutes on RPD? especially when Bubba's power is almost entirely in the survivors control to respond to, whereas you are powerless as killer in this situation
1 -
Yeah but that post is technically right, killswitch is a last option measure to disable things that crash the game, make it unplayable or result in hostage situations. Boil Over on RPD while being extremely lame and abusable doesnt stop the game from being played.
0 -
Its not a problem, killers with a fraction of a braincell just let them sit up there in RPD library, they either bleed out or come down
1 -
But they just disabled a map with killswitch "cuz rework lul" though...
0 -
Maybe they were reworking the map and bugged it so now it crashes the game.
3 -
If they killswitch anything it will be the map offerings like they dud with boons when they were unsnuffable you could still get it randomly but couldn't use the offerings.
1 -
Cause if they did Killswitch anything this Forum would be lit up with what they Killswitched and why
And I don't want to read all of those posts
0 -
It doesnt stop you from playing the game. You can snuff out the boon. Let them bleed out, while you chase someone else. It takes longer, but it doesnt prevent you from playing the game.
0 -
Not being able to hook is pretty much preventing to play the game.
0 -
This was always part of the game with sabotage. Its nothing new.
0 -
Never thought I’d see the day when someone would ask Boil Over to be killswitched.
1 -
Respawning hooks was a result of old sabotage being able to disable all hooks but basement making it very unfun for the killer. If survivors can become hook immune with one perk either the map or the perk need to be looked at and abuse prevented.
1 -
And with respawning hooks survs can still prevent hooking with sabotage. Sabo/Breakout is still in this game, nobody is asking for killswitching it. The same goes for Boil Over and map offerings. Its not abuse. Its a strategy to max utilize the perk. And you can still play around.
0 -
The kill switch is only for bugs.
1 -
the difference between a sabo build and boil over is one requires teamwork and at least one other survivor to get off gens in order for it to work. Where with boil over the other players don’t have to do a single thing for the downed person to wiggle off.
0 -
The result is the same. The killer wont get hooks.
0 -
Bad bait.
0 -
because Boil over is not causing game breaking bugs. The killswitch has never been intended to be used for balance purposes.
0 -
Sure. Always just bait if its true and you cant argue against it. Same procedure as always.
0 -
Nah it’s bait when you intentionally make your argument awful in an attempt to rile people up.
1 -
Anyone who says this is fine seems to forget we've had this problem before. Over the years there have been a few places that survivors could end up places where they couldn't be picked up, like on tops of rocks: these were all considered exploits, and were removed. Saying this is designed to be exploited is kinda silly when the exact same thing used to be considered holding the game hostage before introducing perks that actually make it even worse.
1 -
Not true. The devs have never said that.
Dead Dawg Saloon got killswitched when they changed the layout and caused an infinite. It wasn't a bug, it was an oversight that became exploitable. They killswitched it until they could put it back.
1 -
okay well if a perk is working as intended than there's no reason to kill switch it.
0 -
I noticed that some maps have hooks on upper levels that were not there before. It looks like they are addressing this but not all maps have been finished. I think if they took away the 25% from falling and all would be fine.
