Since the boon addition, survivors dont cleanse totems anymore.
Boons are basically a big buff to noed since cleansing means no more blessing. And also because of hexes like hex pentimento.
Soloq is even more unbearable because of this,if you cleanse, teammates mad because they cant bless,if you dont cleanse, you gotta worry about noed, that most of the killers I go againts use.
Game is in a very weird state right now.

Survivors complaining about boons is a new one.

Its not complaining but ok.

I haven't gotten a NOED Killer in a long while
5 -
Just cleanse totems
1 -
It is not like cleansing Dull Totems was a smart thing to do anyway. Most of the time it is just wasting time instead of being productive aka doing Gens.
5 -
just had a match against noed spirit.
5G = 2H
ended up in 3K
was honestly expecting the noed
2 -
They didn't cleanse totems really even before that.
4 -
Play in Eastern Europe, you’ll see all of them

It was always smarter to remember the totem locations and go back later if noed is in play

Pentimento isn't that strong of a perk b/c of boons and survivors already know the totem location since they cleansed it once already. It's an interesting perk for sure but most games you barely get use out of it. Sure there are streamers who posted that one match where they got all 5 lit against a solo potato team. But generally you might get 1 or 2 before they are cleansed again then useless.
I love the idea of pentimento but b/c it came out after boons, it's nearly useless. hex perks are pretty much dead once a killer hits average mmr. But you're right, NOED has made a comeback b/c of boons and the killers know totems will be in play.
Personally i like to cleanse totems if there is time. 1k points and it helps me pip. I try to be mindful if another player has boons. but if i don't hear a boon go up i'll start cleansing.

I am reffering mostly to dull totems.

When you cleanse one totem and boon 4 others and suddenly no noed anyway

I see hexes cleansed pretty often.

I cleansed a dull totem the other day and a Mikaela came over to be obnoxious clicking her flashlight at me and then the totem over and over while I was trying to work on a gen so I went and cleansed every totem on the map. My swf teammate died and while spectating saw the Mikaela spent the rest of the match hiding in a locker while I did 3 gens and the other player looped the killer. Apparently she couldn't play if she couldn't bless a totem. 😂

Yep,boons are indeed a big buff to noed users.

Developers: *Add a Hex that requires cleansed totems*
Also Developers: *Add Boons, so Survivors no longer cleanse.*
And people wonder why Killers are leaving. 🤡
3 -
See I don't care if another Survivor has CoH. Dem bones will break so I can have my Inner Healing. Players shouldn't rely on CoH to get the out of a bind.....that's why I either run Inner or Self for my healing needs.
5 -
It isn't rocket science. Break 3-4 totems and leave 1-2 totems for blessing. We usually leave 1 and if NOED pops we know where the remaining 2 are (incase we left 2 and the other one wasnt booned) . Survivors are just lazy when its a perk that doesn't benefit them. Boons you can just reboon all the time without no worry of time
As a killer i never use hexes anymore and ive tried pentimento only 2 times. Its funny how survivors always have time to boon or break hexes but when its NOED they complain.
4 -
which boon locations do you prefer to leave? just curious.
0 -
Center of the map location or side location which is at the done gens so killer has no business of going there.
2 -
There's literally no reason to cleanse dull totems other than maybe undying or if you're farming for BP. Especially as a soloq player, the time you're spending cleasing dull totems is wasted time that could be on generators. Cleansing the 5 dull totems is extremely time consuming + impossible without a dedicated perk or map + not always the right thing to do
0 -
There is a reason - you can prevent NOED. But of course you only see it when it is too late. And then cry.
And the time better spent on repairing is a bit of an attitude thing. If you think the game is finished when the last gen pops you are right.
But then don´t complain on NOED. If he has NOED the time would be better spent cleansing the totems during the match.
1 -
Going for all 5 Dull Totems to prevent NOED was never the best strategy in the first place, you're better off looking for the lit totem at the endgame.

On behalf of all killers I would like to thank you for using SC. Even after its nerf (CoH) I can heal myself faster than if a teammate does it. So instead of two survivors not on gens there is only one. 1 perk that the whole team can use.

Ever since boons I just stopped running inner strength or anything involving cleansing totems. Not worth screwing over my solo q teammates.
I don't bring COH either because I don't think it's a fair perk, so I mostly just don't touch totems as survivor nowadays unless they're hexed.

Most Survivors didn't cleanse before Boons anyway. It's where the whole "Do bones." meme comes from, because they wouldn't cleanse and then would complain about NOED.
1 -
But they cleansed more before Boons than now. Before Boons NoED activated roughly 4 or 5 times out of 10 games played while now it's activated at almost 100% rate. That's why I'll always break totems no matter what.
2 -
Pre-cleansing has never been a smart move imo. You are spending precious time off gens to counter a perk that might not even be in play. The smart play has always been to simply note totem spawns throughout the game so you can easily locate and cleanse NOED after it pops.
Let's also note that Boon-ed totems cannot turn into NOED anyway. A Boon totem is just as good as a cleansed one when the last gen pops.

Not really a buff to noed if a boon can block noed from even appearing.
0 -
It's another reason boons are flawed design. Survivors having to spend time to cleanse totems or else deal with NOED is what made pre-Boon DBD less ridiculous. I even started running Counterforce to deal with high rolling hex users. Now, boons allow the survivors to get such a lead on the killer, NOED isn't even enough catchup for the killer in the majority of cases.
0 -
Yes that's true but we are forgetting partly what OP is saying too. Fellow SURVIVORS are trolling and punishing other survivors who break totems because of losing a "possible" Boon location. I have been punished by getting body blocked at a doorway to get downed by a Killer or harassed at end game by my teammates because I broke a totem.
And before most didn't actively seek totems because of NoED most just broke a totem they found for the BP unless they have Inner.
3 -
And yet people find plenty of time to put boons down without any issues. I guess its only stupid and a waste of time if it doesn't give you a massive boost to survival right?
3 -
Boons at least do more than cleansing Dull Totems for a Perk the Killer might not even have.
And nope, even with Boons Survivors are stupid enough to put them either in positions where they are not helpful or waste time doing Boons while they could do something else.
0 -
I get more points from doing bones than i do from helping team mates tbh.
2 -
Yeah but heres the thing... I see survivors booning multiple times in a match. So survivors do have time to rebless a totem over and over but you never have time to break them? Thats why i always say survivors have the time if it benefits them.
1 -
Well can you blame em? Cleansing (and all perks related to that) are actually hindering you, as a survivor, now.
Just boon totems and get a buff thats stronger than anything else.
Bhvr didnt think boons through to the end...
1 -
I used to cleanse totems all the time, I had my pog inner healing Nancy build. But now? I only really do it during end game while everyone else is trolling the killer.
0 -
Yeah,i'm on a dull totem trying to cleanse it then I see a Mikaela teabagging and doing nothing all game.

In what games every game I see they are always in spots where a Gen is done ensuring that the Killer will never snuff it
