BP grind ? Survivor for sure. Because WGLF won’t necessarily give you all 4 stacks while BBQ can if you play specific killers. That said the killer blood web is more important than survivors because you need to play with addons for pretty much every killer.

Ranking up ? Well survivor is easier if you know what will get you points and emblems, but it can become hard to double pip at some point. Killer on the other side is really dependant on the one you’ll play. At some point most of the killer roaster won’t let you pip anymore. So I’d say killer is harder here

Survivors, at least killers can play till game ends, you can't as a survivor.

Controller killer is harder than solo queue survivor.

To me, i rank up easily as killer... and it is way more difficult as a solo q player. But, recently, annoyed by all the camping and tunneling... i decided to stack BT/ DS on all of my builds (before, i was only using BT or nothing). Well, i do have to admit that the game is pretty different now (even as a solo q player). I'll see better with the next season.

    It depends on the player.

    Let's see

From a killer perspective, ALL you emblems generally come from one aspect of the game: finding and hooking survivors

Gatekeeper: If you find and hook survivors quick enough, they don't have time to complete the gens because they are busy being on the hook, being chased, or rescuing the other hooked survivors.

Devout: You literally need to kill survivors for this emblem, as long as you keep hooking them, they'll die.

Malicious: You need to hit survivors and hook them to gain points in this emblem, which is VERY similar to the Devout emblem (yes, some killers have a slightly harder time with this emblem due to the nature of their power, but can usually get silver or gold without thinking about it).

Chaser: You need to chase survivors to get points, core part of the gameplay, end your chases fast and you're good (here you gain points for hitting a survivor in chase as well, like in the Malicious emblem).

Now from a Survivor point of view, you have 4 different emblems that come from 4 different playstyles, and in some cases you are competing with your team to gain points

Lightbringer: Complete generators and cleanse totems, you are competing with your team since there are limited resources, and you cannot do anything else while you gain points in this emblem (yes, being chased while the others repair gens progresses this, but the gain is miniscule in that case).

Unbroken: Highest points awarded if you escape whithout being downed, if you die you gain points by staying alive as long as possible: this is probably the easiest one to understand, but it punishes you greatly if have a bad team (you cannot go higher than Silver if you die).

Benevolent: Help your teammates by doing altruistic actions, you are competing with your team for this emblem, and you cannot do anything else while you gain points in this emblem (again).

Chaser: Either stay in chase for a long time, or hide VERY well close to the killer. It doesn't sound bad, until you realize that hiding is basically useless nowadays unless you have a specific build for it, and being chased means you cannot progress in Benevolent or Lightbringer, and you'll get most likely downed at some point, denying the Iridescent in Unbroken, and potentially getting you killed.

Yeah, I'd say that if you need to pip, killer has less things to think about in order to do so

The one thing I can give credit to for killer is that all the emblems relate to each other and all you need to focus on is your job. With Survivor, it's like "How often was I chased?" "Did I do enough gens?" "How many unhooks and heals did I get" "How many times was I downed?"

Killer is definitely a lot more straightforward. However, I think for survivor it can be easier if you're in an at least semicompetent swf.

Killer is the hardest, survivor I’m already at iri rank 1 killer im at silver rank 1 so close to gold. I didn’t get a pip from a 2k🤧

I got to Iri 1 easy as killer on PS4.

I play in a pair as survivor (one of us plays on Switch, the other on PS4), and it was a real struggle to level up our grades. One account has survivor at Iri 3 and the other at Iri 4.

Leveling up killer on the Switch feels ##################ing impossible. I'm still Ash on the Switch.

One caveat with killer is since individual killer characters have their own MMR if you lose a lot on, say, Meyers then your Meyers MMR goes down and eventually you get easier opponents on average. Then all you need is two or three 4 kills in a row and you’ve gone up a grade. It takes longer but it eventually happens when you play enough games simply by chance and by way of the MMR decreasing on losses.

    Solo Survivor probably.

Killer isnt easy but you can always trick the grades, you can have several very very low MMR Killers and use them to rank against very inexperienced Survivors once you reach the grades where you can lose pips.

The fact that for a killer is more straightforward and that you don't need to coordinate and compete with other people makes it easier by default tho, doesn't it?

Even if you are in a SWF, you're still competing for the gens, the unhooks and the chases with each other, and it ######### sucks even because usually you are not the one to say "Ok mr killer, I should be maxed out in Chaser, could you please ignore me for the rest of the game so I can work on my Lightbringer emblem please?"

Solo queue survivor since depipping can be caused by many factors outside of your control.

That's very true. I guess I should say it's not as difficult for survivors in a swf than in solo queue, not so much that it's easier than killer.

    Both....

    Survivors- Camping Killers... Afk Killers

Killers- Gens being done in less then 5 minutes (with no backup)

    survivor

Survivor is harder. You can often escape and not pip. Face camp out, depip. Afk killer, de pip. It’s harder to grade up as survivor compared to killer.

Killers more difficult to play in general, but not to pip.

SoloQ survivor is pretty much half luck after gold let alone red. Blight that runs OP addons? Some survivor DC-s. Nurse? Sweet, sweet DC value baby!

With the matchmaking being as it is, Killer is pretty easy even if you do run into a few seal team sixes every now and again.

SFW survivors can do it pretty reliably.

I think killer may be more difficult to get one's desired win conditions met, however it is easier to rank up, as opposed to solo que. Which can often end in depips because of tactic or teammates that you have no control over.

  • Lycidas
    Lycidas Member Posts: 1,170

Yeah, that's undebatable, swf will always have an easier time than soloQ, whatever their goal is

i rank up quicker as survivor personally but if i was to actually play to win more as killer by far killer is easier because you can double pip pretty much every game up until like rank 3 and even then depending on the killer your playing its still really easy where as survivor especially solo survivor you can sometimes have 0 control over your game due to teammates and stuff

Survivor is way harder to level up imo. I'm a killer main but I've played swf and even after I escape 5+ games in a row I still don't rank up.

Honestly probably survivor. You're unlikely to live in solo unless you get good teammates. It wasn't always that way, but it is recently and I don't know why. Awful teammates these days.
