Daily 'RPD sucks' discussion thread
RPD is hot garbage and every time I end in that map I get reminded of it
End of rant

I'm going to need some reasons for it being hot garbage.
Are you referring to playing killer on this map, playing survivor, being console player? What exactly are you complaining about here?
2 -
gen distribution is bad, hallways are narrow as hell making most killer powers either op or pointless, its heug, the infamous library, pretty much every loop is either terrible or god tier, extremely poor detection (scratch marks feel more like a hindrance at a lot of intersections,) too much of the map is fixed, bad stairway areas for both sides, very poor hook placements, the list goes on really.
It looks amazing in comparison to how it looked in RE2make but its absolutely miserable for both sides to play on.

Literally the worst map in any game I’ve played. Everything about its gameplay just doesn’t work and it has been abusable with bugs like 3 times
9 -
It's horrid for all non-stealth Killers, but it's bad for them too.
It's literally the size of Mother's Dwelling but it has two floors.
It has numerous god pallets.
The office god loop.
If you go down in an Exit Gate in the main hall you can't be hooked.
The library of pain.
Oh and the map is ######### on console.
13 -
I've gotten to the point where I don't play killer seriously on RPD. At all.
If I get it as survivor I'll play it but I'll still hate it.
5 -
I feel right at home on that map. Loved that game and adore the maps inclusion. I guess it really does pay off to be a gamer…
4 -
Just played it and it was cool.
Ok, not for the Nemesis.
1 -
Cons for killer: way too big, too many strong pallets/god pallets, tough to navigate
Cons for survivor: ridiculous 3 gen/4 gen potential, tough to navigate, easy for killers to camp due to choke points.
7 -
Literally everything for everyone, both sides
3 -
bruh all they needed to do was make a map with a rpd theme. who thought "ah yes take an entire map from a survival horror shooter and put in an aysemtrical online action game.
2 -
why is it so hard for the devs to fix this map? literally just add a hook at the downstairs library and remove those stupid 2 hooks up there that makes killers able to bodyblock, and it'll fix people abusing the upstairs by not getting hooked.

RPD just shows what is wrong with this DBD-Community.
The DBD-Community basically: "I dont like this thing so I will complain endless about it until it is changed". Until just sucking it up that you will end up on a Map that you might not like.
I dont have a problem with RPD. Not my favorite Map, not even close, but when I play on it, I just play the match and move to the next match, without opening a Forum Post...
3 -
...tough to navigate.
Just learn the layout - then it is not so much.
1 -
Yeah, because it is totally relevant that everyone opens a Thread about RPD, because every Thread is so unique and it is sooo important.
RPD comes up pretty rarely (It is only one Map out of over 30 different Maps) so the odds to end up on RPD are already low. And if someone ends up on RPD, they will most likely not experience it again for quite a long time.
1 -
As much as I agree that RPD has it's several issues, whenever I end up on it I usually have a good time, unless it's against a Trapper or a Hag maybe.
1 -
I hope they lose the license so RPD can get the Hawkins treatment.
3 -
RPD is fine. I play Trapper and it's a hoot.
1 -
If a Map is terrible or not is highly subjective. There are people who enjoy playing on RPD. For me, Swamp-Maps are the worst Maps in the game, others would disagree and call other Maps terrible.
We can all start complaining about our worst Maps. You know what happens then? You dont have any Maps in the game.

Recently just played this map for the first time on pc, I had to turn my resolution all the way down to 65% to have a stable 60 fps.
0 -
This map is fine, they just need to remove this map.
There, I fixed it.
6 -
So now imagine the experience on console, especially our Switch cousins!
And I actually like RPD map, but just as a surv.
0 -
I've already experienced that nightmare on console, but I can't imagine how it plays on Switch.
2 -
I like it so your opinion is invalid.
End counter rant
2 -
I refuse to play on it as either role. I loved RE2 remake but it was implemented so horribly for this game.
0 -
I hate RPD for how killer sided it is. Finding gens and interacting with other teammates literally impossible in that map.
0 -
It's the worst map ever.
1 -
Every time I try to walk toward something, I think I'm doing okay, and then I suddenly get re-routed in a completely different direction until I don't know where I am or how to go the direction I was originally trying to go. I hate this map so much.
1 -
Oh...oh! Self-care sucks too!
(not rly)🤞There, am I part of the cool crowd now?
0 -
i'll burn an rpd offering for each one of these

RPD is objectively a bad map. It's huge, narrow hallways make certain killers op and certain killers powerless, if survivors are downed in certain areas they are unable to be hooked, hooks in certain areas can be blocked off by the killer for guaranteed sacrifices. The map plays like a powerpoint presentation on console. None of the loops are fairly designed, they are either god loops or death traps.
The forum is designed for players to give the devs feedback about the game.
Now, the devs probably will ignore these posts because they don't offer constructive criticism on how EXACTLY to fix the map, but posts like this have the right kind of spirit...sort of.

I love RPD.
I never get lost here because I do not have the memory of a goldfish. And I didn't play the RE remake, either. Cause I played the original.
1 -
The worst take.
1 -
I think I hate midwich more because I barely see anything on it.
0 -
Only issue I have with it is the lengthy routes needed for gen patrols. This map is great when I play survivor.
0 -
It can be frustrating for killers, sure, but I absolutely love it as a survivor. There are so many strong tiles to use and link together. If you take the time to learn the map and how to use some of the unique tiles, it's really fun to loop killers, they hardly ever expect the plays I make. For instance in the lobby where the counter is, loop that whole ramp area, then run off into that room on the right side, force the loop clockwise, take the vault back out, loop the lobby ramp and desk again. It's so strong. There's also 3 god pallets on the left side of the map, at least one on bottom and top(save these for end game), but either bottom or top will have two. Then there's the lower room off to the left with the really long desk w/ pallet and the railing vault that you can tile together with the lobby loop. Off on the far right side if you go past the room with the pallet and vault and go outside up the stairs, stay to the right and you'll be back outside with the loop where a gen usually spawns with yet another vault. Just do like a kyf or something and really learn the map. I used to hate it but now it's honestly one of my favorites.

It's a ######### maze, I keep running down the same corridor trying to find a way out 10 times in a single match

But not everyone played RE. I shouldn't be forced to buy another game in order to learn the layout of a DBD map. It is hard to learn the layout of a map you get so rarely. But let's say with time you learn the layout.
Let's be objective: you love RPD because of nostalgia. It is an objectively BAD map for this game. It was built for a whole different game and it doesn't fit in DBD.
1. Down anyone near the main hall gate and try to hook them. Unless you have the gate hook, which may or may not spawn, the nearest hook is too far away to carry anyone to.
2. Library.
3. Gens are impossible to find.
4. Even with you knowing the layout, you still have to reach a certain place on the map by going in a completly differnt direction every time. This increases the time it takes to move from place to place by a hundred.
5. With 4 in mind, the map is EXTREMELY big, so needing half an hour to traverse it doesn't help it either.
1 -
It do be abysmal
0 -
I think you missed the part where I said I didn't play the game this map was designed from.
Nostalgia has nothing to do with it.
#1: Never had this issue
#2: Library is useless. No reason to go there except to check for totem spawns.
#3: Gens are insanely easy to find and have a preset number of spawn points. Seriously, it is one of the most reliable gen spawn maps in the game. Midwich is FAR worse.
#4/#5: If you know where the hallways lead you can reach any spot on the map in like 30 seconds.
0 -
Well I guess I just further proved how little I know about RE by my first statement.
1. I had it a dozen times. Just because you never got in that situation, it doesn't mean the issue doesn't exist.
4-5. 30 seconds is almost a third of a generator. In any other map, unless you are on the exact opposite, traversing shouldn't take more than 15-20 seconds.

You know forums are for things like that, right? OP just opened a thread for something he thinks is bad for the game and wants it changed. Not everyone has to "suck it up".
If you don't mind RPD, consider not entering a thread that has "RPD sucks" in its title next time, or open yourself a "Daily I don't mind RPD discussion thread".

I won't defend the layout, but I gotta admit this map has grown on me since release. It just looks really, really good.
Side note: Why does everyone say RPD? It's Raccoon City Police Department, so it's actually RCPD.
0 -
I have spent entirely too many games on a 110 killer like Huntress or Deathslinger to believe you can cross a map like Red Forest that fast. Maybe a map like Lery's or something. 15-20 seconds is enough time to completely open an exit game. I find that unlikely outside of a Nurse, Blight, or Billy.
RPD is easy to get across, there are holes in floors, places to drop down, and even the main room has places you can drop from that do not even require a vault.

Man... you don´t need to play RE.
Here was a thread with a drawn map of the RPD map. Can´t repost atm.
Just learn it - it is really not that difficult.
And a lot of gens are fixed. Always in main hall or the little room left (from front exit) or above. I think always in the bathroom on top and so on.
After playing this a few times you really should know these things.
May the Goldfish is not so far fetched...

I agree that learning the map is usefull but even if you learn the map it doesnt excuse all the other things wrong with it, performance is awfull, the tiles are either useless or god pallets, wIndows are useless in most offices making them deathtraps.
It is a bad map for gameplay, if you memorize it or not doesn't change the fact you still have to loop in a badly designed map.
1 -
I learnt it long ago lol. I meant the learning itself shouldn't be a thing tbh, but nevertheless, the layout is still garbage.
0 -
Yeah I actually love going to this map on both sides. People send me there thinking it's the new Haddo or something but I know it inside out by now. There's really only a handful of strong loops and a few god pallets. And it has a really, really bad tendency to spawn people ~10 feet from the killer at the main exit. As shown below.
What other map are you gonna do that on? I always run straight to that at the start of any killer game if im close enough lol. Granted, the Ace was probably drunk but still.
1 -
I'm going to need some reasons for the Earth being round.
0 -
I don't think so. I really enjoy playing this map as killer and survivor. It's easy to make survivors get a bad 3 gen if you just let them finish all the gens on one side, and it's great as survivor because there are so many pallets and loops.

That map is awful to play on,even if you know where everything is,that's just how bad the map is sadly.
