Is performance on the Xbox Series S much better than the Xbox One?

I've been playing DBD on the original Xbox One for a while now but every update the frames get worse and worse as you may have seen detailed in my prior posts. I'm looking to stay on the same platform seeing as how cross-progression is nowhere to be seen and the Series X is impossible to get your hands on.

So to anyone who's recently upgraded from the original Xbox One to Series S, or from the PS4 to Series S, etc, how much better is the performance and does it manage to hit a consistent 60 like advertised?

And as a little side question, is there 120fps support? I've heard from some people there is support, and from others there isn't.

I have a Series X rather than a S but it runs way better on the X at least

With that said, I would strongly recommend holding out for the X rather than the S, even if DBD works better on the S

The S is greatly hamstrung compared to the X. Right now it's not as big of a deal but I do think that the S is going to knock itself out of the arms race sooner rather than later as more companies move onto Next-Gen and leave the Xbox One/PS4 behind. Obviously I can't say for sure but personally I think the S is going to be left behind.

I played on Xbox one for my first year or two on DBD. The one was a nightmare from Twins release onward and still is (My son still on original). I found a Series S and made it in time before they were gone. The series S (or maybe just the one I have) is digital only which did not bother me but the most important thing.....Runs DBD light years better than the original one. I went from lagging/frame issues anytime I activated/used powers, DH was used (by me or not), status effects, etc to none of that at all. Only time I see issues is when there are server issues which is out of my control.

This being said I personally see no reason to pay an extra $700 or so for the X. just my opinion though which is based off MY OWN experience with both machines..

Also loading times are nice. For example I can open DBD, load, change my loadout, and ready up before my son on the Original can even get to the main menu. It's hilarious and he hates it.

It runs light years better than on old consoles. I will say though, if you're fine with not playing with disks then I'd go with the S, which I did.

The main differences is the not having a disc option, which is fine to me. Lower storage, which you can be the expansion card to get the same storage for still less price than the X.

And then the whole 4k thing. Which DBD doesn't even have 4k gaming. You'll still have a lot better graphics though. The difference between the X and S is that the X has what's considered true 4k. While the S you can still play on 4k settings on games that have it, but it's not considered "true 4k". I've played on both and there's almost no difference other than saying you paid $600 more for something. I literally play all games with 0 problems.

Even when I still play the old Xbox One. I would recommend the X since it's more powerful than the S. But it's your decision to do it but I would highly recommend the X.

I've heard the X still has quite significantly stronger hardware compared to the S, and other games are capped at 30fps on the S while capped at 60fps on the X even at 1080p, which would hint the S is definitely a lot weaker and it isn't just a case of resolution support.

Basically what I'm wondering is how futureproof is it, seeing as how the game gets worse and worse every update.

I've literally never had an issue with any game. You want to spend more to get pretty much the same results, I can't tell you not to lol. But in my experience of playing on both, there's no difference.
