Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

thought about MMR... (new meta build for ranking up!?!?)

i usually run DS, dead hard, CoH and resilience but i've noticed that sometimes i die and dont get any rank points(it doesnt matter howm uch points you get its all about escaping so i thought hhmmm what is the most skilled build and i think i got it and i wanted to share it with you all... so basically i've started running Diversion, Left Behind(lets you see the hatch), Urban Evasion, selfcare and WOW is my skills going up i escape almost every game now... jokes aside

1st - Do you think MMR should even be in this game?

since it doesnt reflect your skill level at all i mean hiding in a bush and getting hatch = higher mmr while looping 5 gens healing teammates and stuff gives you nothing...

2nd - Do you enjoy MMR?

Now since MMR is in the game do you like it?, or not? maybe it doesnt even bother you why, why not?

    1. I think the idea of having MMR in the game is fine. The implementation on the killer end is ok. The survivor end needs a bit more nuance in my opinion. I'm not convinced there's a strong correlation between individual skill and escape rates when matchmaking is inconsistent in terms of MMR level between teammates. It doesn't matter if a 3000 hr survivor can run a killer until the end of time if their teammates have 200 hrs and completely throw the game by going down instantly. They'll get 4k'd through no fault of the 3000 hr player. It doesn't matter how well the best players on the team play if it's putting bad survivors with good survivors+an average killer. The bad survivors will get the team 4k'd more often than not.
    2. I'd enjoy it more if it worked all the time. It was genuinely great the first month or so after it launched on both sides. I was escaping most of my games, getting teammates I knew from the comp scene, and it felt like I was being matched correctly. Then they changed something and now SBMM basically turns itself off at peak hours and makes solo queue unplayable if you're actually good and try to play optimally. Crossplay off PC is a little better, but every other game is a hacking Spirit pre-swinging out of phase on healthy survivors with MDR/Amulet. The vast majority of my survivor games with crossplay on involve a completely average killer, one decent teammate, and two godawful teammates with 1/10th of my playtime who proceed to throw the game. Never once during these games have I thought "Wow, sure am glad I'm not still waiting in queue for the correct teammates!"

Yea 1 bad teammate can throw the whole match and thats enough to make you lose MMR and the match. Thats what i dont get with the system if you loop 5 minutes and no teammates did gens and you die 5 minutes in chase should be considered as pretty skilled in my opinion. But since your teammates thought it was interesting to watch you loop the whole match you get nothing for it.

i liked the +8 -8 system more (ranked 4 can play with 1 - 12 etc.) i mean sure its still a pretty big gap but i had more consitent games with that system than with MMR. But ofc as you said there are some games where its pretty even the skill between the survivors and the killer its a tough match for both

The sad part is that they refuse to improve the MMR. Its not about escaping thats what i dont get they keep it way to simple... If i loop 5 gens gets noed and face camped at the end and my teammates did the gens, im the actual skilled one... I think the should almost forget about kills and escapes and focus more on hooks, chase time, gen time etc.

Yea would rather have longer queues and fun games that are balanced than a fast game with basically the 3 first survivors they could find and a killer.

Just FYI, getting hatch does not count as a "win" and won't increase your MMR.

Why resilience over spine chill on your main build? I do not get it.

why would i run spine chill? a 9% boost is more than 6% and i have eyes

They said in a stream that a hatch escape is considered a draw.

    This system doesn't make sense.

Usually good players who died a few matches in a row they're matched with a Killer who have low MMR (They can be either a beginner Killer or trying out the killer for the first time) The game ends in less than 5 minutes, no need to explain why. I had many unfair games like this as a survivor after a number of unlucky matches where i got tunneled out of the game or played against God Blights back and forth.

After watching some streamers with high MMR, I see how in almost every game there is at least one player who hides the whole game, even though his team plays well and they have a chance to escape.

The game is just making us all miserable.

Sbmm doesn't fit a Casual game like DBD, and soon the devs will see the result of this system because people is tired of it and is quitting the game

MMR shouldn't exist (partially cause of what we have seen) but this game is a party game... Not meant to be some sort of Competitive game... There's too much RHG in the game

MMR should exist for those players that do want to be competitive (just not what we have now... Unless that's what needs to happen) Just make it a different mode altogether... Perks and Killer powers might be better balanced (MIGHT be)

Yes, the survivor's part is the one that needs massive rework on the metrics. I get this is complicated though, and they're afraid of touching it and breaking everything.

Clairvoyance and Sprint Burst are actually much better for this and you can still run better perk choices in the last two slots. Maybe Iron Will and or DS.

The problem with all of it though is Hatch is considered a Draw in terms of MMR. The best way to 'farm' MMR gain on both sides is uh:

Survivor: play in a coordinated SWF with strong perk and add-on loadouts /everyone gen rush and get out asap

Killer: play very well with a slowdown build and proxy camp for hook states/guaranteeing deaths on hook and use the best add-ons possible. OR face camp with a late game NOED build which can very well net 2+ kills and almost always get you MMR and ruin multiple people's game experiences which apparently this game is all about on both sides.
