Is plague really fair?
Kinda a hot-take for me i feel but its a opinion nontheless. Me and my friends when we talk we like to talk about killers designs. But plague imo doesn't seem very fair in terms of design. One killer can completly make all heal perks useless and medkits pretty much. And its not even like just cleanse since that just turns her into steroid huntress. Also not cleansing doesn't work anymore pretty much since her buff with the one fountain by default. And considering now i mostly duo or solo play getting everyone to commit to not cleansing never really happens. Not to say she's overpowered or anything just think her design is a little annoying to face. But then again i could be going around facing her wrong so any tips would be appreciated. It does suck loading in with a medkit and like renewal/we'll make it to know they will never be used. But that's just my take on it.

I think Plague is among the fairest killers in the game, personally
Yes, she renders healing perks, items etc useless but you also can heal at basically any time at the cost of giving the plague her power. Risk vs reward
Playing safe against a plague is actually the opposite of playing safe normally. Instead of healing, focusing purely on gens and only cleansing near completed generators or when there's 1 generator left.

Plague is very fair, even moreso right now because she completely invalidates circle of healing

Vommy Mommy is great - peak creativity for me.

I understand that but its not just that perk. We'll make it for instance is already underused because of bt but it's even more unhelpful against her. Other underused perks as well like renewal as well. And my poor brown medkit lol.

She’s fair tho. I just don’t like the free fountain they give. But she’s cool

Short answer: yes
Long answer: yeeeeees

To be fair, survivors never know when your perks or items will come in handy. There's always a risk that the items and/or perks that they bring won't mesh with the killer's playstyle (i.e. a sabo-squad matches with a Pyramid Head).
Theoretically, there should be no reason to heal with a medkit against Plague, but I have escaped due to having the ability to heal myself normally in addition to cleanse-healing.
I agree with the idea that Plague has a good design--maybe survivors have to play a bit differently, but I personally think that's a good thing.

I play plague and play against plague pretty often. The best thing you can do to actually get value out of your medkit or healing perk is cleanse at a fountain that is in the most inconvenient place for her to use, and do not touch objects that are infected unless that object is a hooked survivor. Plague is so weak if she's not getting survivors infected, so if you refuse to do her job for her it slows her down a ton (even if it feels bad to ignore a gen because it is infected, know that you are hurting her)

Eh, there's multiple ways to approach a game as a Plague, imo.
Cleanse or don't cleanse (you're either constantly broken or I'm in my power all match), interact with infected objects or don't (finding survs and puking on them isn't appreciably harder than keeping objects infected), it doesn't change the final result much in my experience. You just have to recognize how a group is going to approach the match and adjust accordingly.
I always find it funny when a team turns on each other for cleansing or not. Doesn't matter much to me.
I think she's a very fair and well designed killer.

absolutely, plague is one of the best feats of game design in dbd. you can tell so much thought went into her kit and gameplay

Sure, she invalidates survivors conventional healing but she is kind enough to bring her own health care alternative.

Yup, this. Cleanse or dont...but Make Your Choice as a team, whatever that choice is.

I think that's the only thing that makes plague a bit unfun sometimes, but it's not actually the killers fault
It's lack of coordination

I like her. She is one of the most unique killers in the game and you cannot play against her the same way you would play against other killers.
It might be initially disappointing to go into a match with a healing build and/or a medkit and quickly find out that it won’t do much (if anything), but that’s just part of her power and I don’t have a problem with it. Personally I don’t really view it any differently from things like stealth killers countering aura perks (eg. perks like kindred or dark sense against wraith) or for instance counterforce being a waste against killers who didn’t bring hexes. When you run perks like those you run the risk that you may face a killer that it won’t help you against.
Also, she may invalidate conventional healing, but if you do cleanse it’s super fast. You healed yourself in half the time by running to a fountain instead of running to a teammate, AND your teammate didn’t even have to do anything.
Whether or not you choose to cleanse or not cleanse is up to you but you have to be on the same page as a team. If one survivor cleanses, suddenly the other 3 not cleansing becomes far less valuable (and admittedly this is a weakness of solo q). I usually try to avoid it until I have to in order to get a save if she’s nearby, or if I’m on death hook. When you do cleanse, you should often pick a location that is as inconvenient for her as possible - if I’m the killer and a fountain is far out of the way, I may not want to take the time to go there. Also pay attention to how many fountains are left - if you are sick and there’s only 1 left, go cleanse. She’ll get her power but it’s worth giving it to her once in return for taking all her fountains away.
Also, as a general rule, if you’re infected, don’t touch gens that healthy survivors are already working on and get them sick for no reason. Split up and find a different one.

Plague is fair to a fault:
While she does deny traditional healing she gives pools which heal survivors at 4 times the normal healing speed:
8 seconds of one survivor's time vs 16 seconds of 2 survivors' time(32 seconds total).
Plus the survivors are in near complete control of when/how she can use corrupt purge.
The survivor's control over Plague reached the point the devs have been forced to give the plague some control over corrupt purge(Baseline free corrupted pool) and buff literally every single stat vile purge has to make her playable.
Her being so good in this meta is simply symptomatic(No pun intended) of how overpowered Circle of Healing is and how much it break the game's healing mechanics.

It sometimes happens that your build, one or more of your perks or even your power are invalidated/hard countered by the oppositions choice before the game even starts. That sucks, but is part of the asymmetry so you never knew what you'll be facing.
I think Spirit, for example, is hit much harder by Iron Will and it being a meta perk then a CoH build ever will be. Some people cry a lot that playing with three perks is like deciding the game early, but that is a load of BS.
Players who run Adrenalin, NOED or No Way Out routinely play most of the trial with a perk missing and can still pull of a win/do good the entire trial without ever getting use out of their end gamr perk(s).
Plague offers a risk vs reward style of game play that I would wish Hex perks not only promised, but actually delivered. Imagine if Hunted Ground (maybe 20s) was base kit for each Hex cleansed, then you would have a proper risk vs reward, but I digress.
I also think that it would be cool if more killers had a sort of side mission going on that survivors could undertake to somehow interact with the killer and do something besides gen rushing: Billy starts with no overheat, but sabotaging his gas storage gives him fast overheat/ going on a quest of Torment and increasingly stacking debuffs while tormented with hintered and later exposed, until the last stage finally makes you immune to Pyramid Heads ranged attacks / opening doors to get more and more Zombies onto the map in order to find the one with the vaccine that can decrease Nemesis infection level... Stuff like this would be cool, but probably less then a pipe dream.

I'm always going back and forth on Plague. I think what it really comes down to is just how bad your team is and if they know how to handle her. It is definitely bs that she can completely shut down several survivor perks though. IMO some of them should get should activate/ have alternate uses upon being infected.

For sure. In solo, once that first person cleanses, I am cleansing. If you have one person feeding her power and two or three are constantly broken, that is not going to go well for the survivors, to say the least. If the whole team is healthy, her power really isn't oppressive (and can be maddeningly frustrating/inconsistent to actually land).
Despite what many say, there is not one way to deal with her that is best, but everyone in the team has to get on the same page.

Most plagues are not used to survivors giving them their power with the fountains and are not that lethal with the puke. I personally say to just aggressively use fountains. But not until everyone is sick and it has to be all or nothing. Either everyone is constantly staying healthy or everyone stays sick.

Personally, I think she is fair since the point Killers cannot switch the character in the Lobby anymore. Before I thought it was BS that the Killer can negate Medkits by simply switching to a different Character which makes them useless.
However, while I think Plague is fair, I think she needs changes:
There should be an incentive to cleanse and in return her Corrupt Purge should be nerfed. It is quite clear how strong she is if Survivors decide to be Oneshots which make noise which cannot be negated by any means.
Giving her an incentive and nerfing her Corrupt Purge would mean that Survivors are more likely to cleanse, which allows them to get Healing-Points and allows the Plague to get access to her Corrupt Purge.

Plague is fair killer. Her power requires the survivors to take a risk.
