New cheat or just a really bad bug?
Well this is a new one
Cheaters may have found a way to freeze my game and get me kicked from a match
I froze on a gen pickup for over 30 seconds while survivors were still moving around me (see first clip), then later froze on a hook animation (see second clip). The game was canceled and I was given a DC penalty but it showed the match server was offline and I still kept the BP for that match. I never lost connection because I was in a Discord call that was still working the whole time, and the game servers themselves never went down because my friend was also playing and had no issues during that period either.
So are these new cheats we were unaware of that can softlock you into a disconnect or is this some really bizarre bug?

were these clips taken yesterday? im asking that becuase every tuesday steam does server maintenance that probably caused this issue
otherwise it's probably survivor's connection being really bad

Probably. They can force crash your game if you try to spectate them cheating as survivor so i can't see why they couldn't do this.

I actually have a recording somewhere of me attempting to spectate a cheater and my game crashing. How their little client lets them do this is baffling

Thats what happens when you have zero server side checks. Makes me wonder if they can send malicious files to your pc through this game like you could with dark souls.

With the whole IP address leak scandal a couple of months ago, it wouldn't surprise me if there's some security flaw somewhere that would allow something like that.
A lot of what cheaters can do with perks/killer powers is supposedly because all of that is loaded into every match regardless if it's being used or not. So when you load into a trial the data for every perk and power is there, just 'inactive'. No wonder the game gets more and more bloated and slow with every update.
Speaking of malicious stuff, I remember hearing about some cheaters who spammed a bunch of particle effects to crash peoples games. Given how badly the game is optimised these days.

It was hours after Steam maintenance was finished, and like I said, the servers never went down because a friend of mine was also doing a killer game of his own while in a Discord call with me. The match also wouldn't get canceled more than 5 minutes in because a survivor lost connection, they'd just get DC'd. The person from the first clip DC'd after I downed them on death hook, but it was immediately when I hooked a different guy my game froze.

Coco can't catch a break. I think he gets targeted more than other streamers because he insists on waiting until the cheater gives up and DCs when he gets held hostage.
