Stop ruining licensed characters bhvr

Oh really? No sh. I'm not gonna tell people not to buy those skins but it doesn't take away the fact that these skins ruin the character. Ffs man we got people saying that an ice outfit for Michael Myers is a good idea. One dude found it to be a good idea to turn him into ghost rider lol
0 -
It is screams ghostface? Then literally tell me, who is ghostface from? 😂😂😂 the only thing original is the robes and the characters behind the mask. That's how the devs did it because of licensing. If the devs could they would've made him the og black robes ghostface.
0 -
Ghostface is the mask. Anyone who wears the mask can call themselves ghostface, even if they're not from scream
3 -
No no it doesn't ruin the character. Just because another version exists it doesn't take anything away from the original. Skins are here to stay, it is something you are going to have to get over. The majority enjoys it.
2 -
Also the ghostface mask existed before Scream was made as well.
2 -
The idea came from scream 😂😂😂😂
0 -
OKAY? It's still the scream killer lol
0 -
No it's just a costume. The killer is who is under the mask.
2 -
Maybe learn to read. Your comment doesn't even reflect what I said. Nowhere did I say anything about you telling people what not to buy. I said that your opinion does not reflect the opinion of the rest of the community. If people bought it, they like it and enjoy it. Therefore, it does not ruin the character. As I said, this game does not revolve around you. And just because you believe something doesn't make it true.
1 -
Dude ffs man I didn't say you said that. IT'S SOMETHING I SAID JUST TO MAKE THINGS CLEAR. People will buy anything even if it's silly. Just because I'm in the minority it doesn't mean anything. People will literally buy a shirtless Myers if it was in the game oh get out of here bruh the majority, I bet you, they will buy anything lol. Ot does 100% ruin the character even if the majority like it. If you make shirtless Myers and everyone likes him, does it mean it's good for the characte? Everyone here I'm sure hates going against nemesis and pinhead even if they're both super iconic character and I honestly think that my way of thinking is better than the rest in that way simply because I do enjoy all these licenses and don't complain. The majority hates nemesis and complain about pinhead being boring to vs but never ever complain about nurse. Don't bring the majority to this conversation lol
0 -
Clearly it is not. Or else the DLC would've been Called SCREAM and his name would be one of the Ghost Face's from the scream series. DBD's ghostface is an OC, deal with it.
1 -
how so? the ghost face from dbd has nothing to do with the scream franchise , its dbd and fun worlds original character. they can do whatever the hell they want with him
1 -
If the majority of players like something, it most certainly means that it isn't "ruining the character". I keep trying to explain to you that just because you believe something doesn't make it true, but you can't seem to grasp that. You must have been so spoiled as a child to believe that what you think and want is what's right, and what the majority wants is wrong.
Everyone doesn't hate going against Nemesis and Pinhead, and you have no idea what the "majority" likes or doesn't. And to say that no one ever complains about the nurse is ridiculous. There have been several posts today hating on her.
Once again, for clarity, you believing something does not make it true. That is your opinion, nothing more. The most you can say is that you don't like it. Saying that it "ruins the character 100%" is trying to make it a fact, and that is not the case.
2 -
Yeah if the majority wants a shirtless Myers skin they're wrong and it ruins the character. Ffs man a bunch of people wanted a scooby doo skin for demo. What the majority wants doesn't matter when they ask for silly things lol. "YOu BeN SpOiLed As A ChiLed" literally has nothing to do with this? The majority wants a shirtless Myers, doe it make it right? No that's disrespectful to the character and It'll ruin it. The majority complain about pinhead and nemesis being boring to face but never complain about nurse lmao. Also if you believe in God, does that make his existence real just because a bunch of people believe in him? Don't bring the majority here. Just because the majority believes something it doesn't make it true. The majority of players don't even make sense with just telling you how they complain about pinhead being boring but don't mention nurse lol

The ghostface from dbd is from scream and both scream and dbd had to ask for permission to use the mask. The dbd ghostface is from scream, how? Because the ghostface character was an idea in scream, where did the devs get the animations from for ghostface? From scream lol. The blade wipe animation is from scream. It's scream it's just that they had to go to funworld to get permission to use the mask and only got the mask. It's the ghostface from scream it's just that the characters under the mask is original 😂
0 -
YESSSS LMAO. Then leatherface isn't leatherface because the chapter isn't called "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre " LMFAOOOOO GET OUT BRUH
0 -
Ok I regret reading through this thread as it's basically the op crying over nothing while also getting dunked on
Also the ghost face COSTUME was licensed also I'm sure a COSTUME company would love the opportunity for others to make designs for them to take freely for them to sell it's literally a win win situation for them
Also how is a licensed characters rotting body that was in the movie not a fitting skin for said licensed character
Also blighted skins if allowed makes sense as we have a character if given the chance would create blighted abominations of any killers he can get his hands on
1 -
No he isn't you obviously haven't watched the movies or are obviously trying to bait which I'm thinking it's the latter
2 -
I have and the ghostface killer idea is from scream lmao
0 -
I should be working, but reading this thread has been so good!
0 -
Looool! Whatever else is said here, but this comment made my day :>
0 -
I respect and applaud your sticking to Canon and the originals, but I gotta say that skins always were the right place to explore alternative concepts and sometimes fun, sometimes silly, sometimes awesome what-iffs.
Sometimes skins are indeed alternative outfits a character wore in another movie or scene, but at other times it's just non-canonical playing around with said character.
It can get eyerolling dumb when it's stuff like "poolparty shirtless Trapper and Huntress" (btw, a Poolboi Billy would work awesome), but others like the Minotaur for Oni are cool explorations of the basic concept.
And now please give me my Pink Mohawk Myers or I'll rage quit and uninstall the game :<
2 -
Now you are just repeating yourself. Saying the same things over and over does not make it true.
The majority complain about pinhead and nemesis being boring to face but never complain about nurse lmao
I just pointed out, in the thread you quoted how that wasn't true, yet you just repeated like you just said something new.
It is so funny how you can't apply your own logic to yourself
Just because the majority believes something it doesn't make it true
And as I have pointed out multiple times, just because you believe something doesn't make it true. And, yeah, you being spoiled as a child does have validity. You want what you want and don't care what others want. You believe what you believe a think that it is truth, when it is nothing more than opinion. Either someone in your life let you grow up thinking that way, or you just came here to argue and not listen to logic. Since you are now just repeating the exact same things over and over you are just extremely dense or are faking it to troll us. Either way I am done with this nonsense.
0 -
I'm repeating the exact same thing to get you to understand lol
0 -
Lol. So would you be against shirtless Myers!?
1 -
And I'll say it again, if the others want a silly skin for a licensed character, why would I want that?
0 -
Hmm... now stay with me here cause I like your idea. It could be part of a Barbeque and Chill by the pool cosmetic pack.
2 -
Right, like it is such a deep topic. You think that what you believe is fact, when it is nothing more than opinion. You just keep repeating stuff because you can't dispute that.
It doesn't matter what you want. The world does not revolve around you, despite what you were brought up to believe. If other people want it, and the devs want to give it to them, deal with it. They get to have opinions too. I'll tell you what, you can just play killer, then you will never have to see all those other skins. You can wear what you want and be happy.
2 -
But I wanna play survivor too 💀💀💀. You're basically saying that you're okay with Michael myers being shirtless if that's what people want LMFAOO tf man?
0 -
how can you be so confidently wrong? lmao
Okay- let's break this down, so please read this carefully.
In the film series "Scream", they had to get permission from "Fun World" IIRC to use their "Ghost Face" mask, leading to the creation of the killer "Ghostface" in the franchise (please note the difference in spelling there, because it is important). Under this mask were many different characters, who are irrelevant to this discussion, and all you need to know is that none of them were the character of Danny "Jed Olsen" Johnson, the man underneath the mask in DBD.
In the game "Dead By Daylight", they had to get permission from "Fun World" to use their "Ghost Face" mask, leading to the creation of the killer "The Ghost Face" in the game (please note the similarities in spelling there, because it is important). Under this mask is Danny "Jed Olsen" Johnson, and not any of the characters from "Scream".
"Scream" has "Ghostface". "Dead By Daylight" has "The Ghost Face". The "Ghost Face" mask was not created for explicit use in the film "Scream", released in 1996, and in fact predates it, although it was known as the "peanut-eyed ghost" mask before Scream allowed them to rebrand to Ghost Face. The mask has been around since 1991.
Now, in relation to "The Ghost Face" cosmetics for "Dead By Daylight"- this character, from the design to the lore to everything outside of the mask, is entirely exclusive to and created for "Dead By Daylight". There is no relation whatsoever to Scream outside of the use of the "Ghost Face" mask. Therefore, any cosmetics that are made and released are created with the sole consultation of "Fun World" and nobody else, and "Fun World" have been rather receptive to new cosmetics. It does not matter what your views are on if this would/wouldn't fit into "Scream", because it has no relation to "Scream", and nor does it matter on your views on if it would/woulnd't fit any of the characters underneath the "Ghostface" killer in "Scream", because it has no relation to the "Ghostface" killer.
Is this clear enough for you?
EDIT: I forgot to include this, however new skins being made in "Dead By Daylight" for "The Ghost Face" are also used by "Fun World" themselves for official merchandising, like here:
So, again, no relation between "Scream" and "Dead By Daylight", nor are any of the characters related.

What i am saying is that whether I like a skin or not would just be my opinion. If the devs choose to make a skin and a lot of people like it, and it makes them enjoy the game more, who am I to say that it is wrong? Why don't you wait until they actually make a shirtless Myers before you start whining about it? Playing killer is your only option if you want to avoid those skins. If you want to play survivor too, you are going to have to figure out some way to deal with the fact that other people have different opinions than you do.
2 -
Because ghost face is the right way of spelling the name lmao. "The" is always used in dbd for every killer because naming leatherface "The Leatherface" is weird I think.
0 -
Shirtless Myers is an example
0 -
I think that what Erd69 was trying to say;
- Scream and Dead by Daylight needed permission from Fun World to use the Mask.
- Dead by Daylight had taken a lot of inspiration from the Scream franchise into designing, and animations for the Ghost Face character.
Which it's really obvious they had with how Ghost Face performs their attacks, open's the locker and opens his arms before pulling the survivor from the locker, and wiping his knife after getting a hit. Also holding the knife;
0 -
And yet there is zero relation between any of the characters, and any cosmetics created by BHVR for use in their game for the character "The Ghost Face" have zero relevance to the character of "Ghostface" from "Scream".
So, how exactly are BHVR ruining "Ghostface" through cosmetics for their character, "The Ghost Face"?
1 -
Damn imagine seeing all of my point and deciding to ignore it and take that away from it.
(Also Leatherface is named "The Cannibal").
1 -
Because ghostface is supposed to have the black robes and white mask
0 -
"Ghostface" and "The Ghost Face" are two completely different, unrelated entities sharing nothing but a mask. How are BHVR ruining Scream by creating cosmetics for an unrelated game in a joint marketing ploy with a costume company?
1 -
Oh yeah fax because "The leatherface" would sound wierd so it's "The Cannibal" so what's the point of your comment?
0 -
Because the company owns ghostface but ghostface is the scream killer therefore ghostface is the killer with black robes and white mask, not silly ice face ghostface.
0 -
The point of all of my comments thusfar this thread have been to see how BHVR have ruined licenced characters through optional cosmetics which have gotten explicit permission from licence holders, who decide what does and doesn't ruin their character. The more recent ones have singled into "Ghostface" and "The Ghost Face" due to you deciding that the character from DBD and the character from Scream are the same- which they are not- and then asking how exactly creating a cosmetic for one character ruins another from a completely different franchise.
1 -
Not quite.
1 -
The person under the mask isn't from scream
0 -
Correct, I'm so glad we've established that. But again, BHVR isn't ruining a licenced character through official collaborations with the licence holders. It's still "The Ghost Face", who is still different to "Ghostface".
2 -
It isn't even licensed characters, they do it with clown too. I'm one of the few people who likes going against the killer not because of their power and how OP they are or not, but because of who they are. The devs are adding horror icons into the game and my point is that outfits that change a character heavily just ruins the experience. My point is that if the majority still likes that cosmetic then the game is doomed because many people say that dbd is silly anyway so these outfits are justified like having a scooby doo skin for demo. People don't care about licensed characters because when they go against nemesis (literally a character from resident evil and the cool zombies) people DC. People don't appreciate licenses and everyone here doesn't care if Michael has a shirtless skin. I'm the only one who wants them to be faithful to where they came from, nothing more. People DC when it's sadako which to me shows they don't appreciate who they're going against. Someone literally had the idea of captain Cutler to be a skin for deathlslinger. Yes the silly looking dude from scooby doo.
1 -
Sadly, then, it feels like your interests don't allign with the company's interests, nor the majority of the community's interests. Unfortunately, I don't think there's really anything you can do- at the end of the day, BHVR are a company with a near-enough monopoly on this genre, so they can afford to alienate a few customers who wouldn't be paying anyway for the greatest profit and high barriers to entry + exit allows them to run high profit margins + maximise profit with little risk. Outside of just "sucking it up" I don't think there's much you can do.
However, I'm glad that you took the time to respond to me; I now understand a lot better where you're coming from. Sadly, in a game as repetitive as DBD, the novelty of "omg this is Nemesis" wears off fast, particularly when they are given kits that are pretty uninspired.
2 -
You realize you are talking to a wall right?
3 -
The game isn't doomed because Erd69 doesn't like cosmetics. Sorry you had to find out this way.
1 -
Haha well I guess adding silly outfits for licenses is okay I guess lol
0 -
Wow this is the best reply I've gotten here. I understand what you're saying and at the end of the day it's business.
