For survivor complaining about nurse having no counter play I think you are just bad, let me explain
I’ve been playing nurse for awhile since 2020 ( just made a forum account a couple of weeks ago ) I consider myself pretty good with her, my mmr is really high. But sometimes I get absolutely ######### up by good survivors because they are very unpredictable, when you guys say the only counter play is to double back then a good nurse is going to blink to where she last saw you and then follow up. You gotta be predictable and change up how you juke her. Trust me nurse is not completely uncounterable. Plus, it took me a really long time to get good with her since I first started her on console.

Yeah they juked you because you missed. It has nothing to do with the survivors being good or not. Saying Nurse is balanced is like saying a test with barely any material taught in class is fair.

That’s not the point. Please explain to me how a killer that ignores the game physics is balanced. At least Spirit and Blight are strong while having to obey the rules. As a result, those two are way more balanced than Nurse will ever be.

The problem I see with most survivors in my games as nurse is that they treat it like any other killer instead of breaking LOS and making distance they try to loop a tile or they try and double back on every blink and those both are pathways to being an EZ clap, nurse does have counterplay but the most reliable thing outside of breaking LOS and making distance with unpredictable running patterns is having teammates that are committed to gens while someone is being chased, against a good nurse those gens had better be popping or it's a guarantee that you lose

Because ignoring those things is what makes chase as 50/50 as it can be, which is the closest to balanced? The chase is not dependent on factors out of either side’s control, like the map RNG generation. It is purely skill versus skill in mindgame reads and baits.
Also she performs at a 2K average in an even skill match up on an even map.

I’d rather go against Nurse than either of those two any day. Nurse is far more balanced and fun to face. She’s not zipping around the map with insane speed and poor indication of where she actually is.

Fun is subjective, doesn’t make Nurse balanced. Movement speed isn’t the problem, it’s the fact Nurse ignores game mechanics.

Nurse ignoring mechanics is precisely why she is well-designed. Chase is perfectly 50/50 skill reliant (mindgames), instead of advantaged or disadvantaged out of any player’s control from things like map/tile RNG.

It’s not a 50/50 at all. It’s around 90/10. As long as a Nurse lands their blinks correctly, there’s no play the survivor can do. With Spirit and Blight, they can do something against them and there’s actual chase interaction.

Nurse has to charge her blinks, recharge her blinks, enter fatigue (successful hit or not), and has a much slower base movement speed. All the while making clear visual and audio cues of what she is doing. I can try to mind game where she is blinking to based on what I see and hear. Spirit completely bypasses vision. How the kicked up dust nerf/change never made it to live is beyond me.
Yes, fun is subjective. I have more fun having counterplay as a survivor than not.

Oh please stop. You want to talk about Nurse having a cooldown? Spirit has an even longer cooldown lmfao. Bypasses vision? Use your ears, you people want to act like Spirit doesn’t take skill because “just use a headset 4head,” well as survivor, it’s literally the same exact thing.
If you have more fun having counterplay, then you’re playing a different game saying Nurse is fun lol.

I have seen plenty of vods and have played against plenty of Nurses lol. She’s not balanced in the slightest. I can get clapped by a Spirit or Blight and feel like I had a decent shot still.

You mean the BHVR that’s explicitly said they don’t use just kill rate? The BHVR that explicitly gives a disclaimer every single time they post kill rate stats because it combines all factors across all types of play, and is thus near useless on its own? The BHVR that explicitly said they dislike posting kill rate stats because people take them out of context?
But yes, the data of a very specific criteria in specific conditions is clearly the same thing as data that combines everything regardless of all factors.

If they don’t like posting kill rate stats then why are they posting them? Clearly they do use kill rates as justification to unnecessarily nerf Pinhead and nerf Freddy without QoL adjustments. But no, let’s just forget about that.

You mean, nerfing a killer who was brutal to solo player experience, and nerfing a killer who had one of the lowest skill floors in the game because there was almost nothing you could mess up, which made him perform consistently well. Not amazing, like higher tiers, but there was also essentially nothing to mess up on in his power.

Funny how you mention Pinhead was miserable for solos when Nurse is probably worse for solos. Also with that in mind, Pinhead’s skill floor is incredibly high which completely contradicts your point about Freddy.

You cannot seriously be asking this. Different things get nerfed for different reasons. Pinhead was especially brutal to solo because of his Chain Hunt + box solving mechanic, and people not realizing you have to wait out the first few chains if you are trying to solve the box during Chain Hunt. People without coordination suffered for it, which in turn affects the entire team because of Chain Hunt being global. So box solving time/Chain Hunt frequency was nerfed. Engineer’s Fang was just overpowered outright.
Nurse doesn’t have anything like that. The only solo vs SWF difference for her is just how well others do gens, no other specifics. For the one being chased, it’s irrelevant. The one being chased doesn’t get screwed over because no one else solved the cube, for instance.
Freddy was nerfed because while his power was relatively simple, there was pretty much nothing he could mess up on because of how standard it was. So he got nerfed, so that there is room for more error if he doesn’t play well.

The problem is with matchmaking. There are going to be times when a skilled nurse player goes up against less skilled survivors.
If she lands her blinks correctly then you already screwed up your counterplay. You counterplay needs to happen while she is blinking, or anticipating where she will blink beforehand. If she lands it, that took skill, and you failed to counter it. That's like saying that if the Huntress lands her hatchets correctly there is no counterplay. Once they have already hit there is no counter play. You need to avoid them before they "land correctly". If you get hit, you were outplayed.
The problem is the MMR system. Good nurse players are going to be very skilled, and likely will get matched against players that simply don't have the skill to counter her.

Yeah exactly. BHVR even mentioned a similar problem in a similar way on the Q&A stream. There were people miles above the soft MMR cap, and so they had to be soft capped back down so their queues would not take literal hours. When there’s only a few extremely good players in queue at any given moment, of course not all their matches will be even if they want reasonable queue times. The only other option is ridiculously long queue times. That’s not a gameplay balance problem, cause it clearly is balanced when actually even matches occur.

Not to say she wasn't busted. The few times I used the 3 blinks add-ons, I had to use the 3rd one on purpose. It's pretty rare to need it for a real practical reason.

Basekit nurse absolutely has counterplay. 3 blink nurse needs to go though, and apparently her range addons are bugged which makes her busted and needs to be fixed.

Why do you assume perfection from a Nurse on every blink? Do you genuinely believe survivors have no influence over the blink accuracy?

We’re Freddy and Pinhead ever OP? Why did they get no compensation for their nerf because it’s not like either needed to be weaker?

They weren't OP they just had things about them that people ran into the ground until ppl got sick of it
for Freddy it was stacking all the slowdowns in the world with slowdown addons. They ended up nerfing him even more because of his high kill rate. (Also I wanted to mention that a while ago Almo said 'Freddy is overpowered, but we're not sure why') meaning at one point he was considered OP by the lead game designer
As for Pinhead, it was when everyone decided "he's only good if u run franklins/hoarder and these 2 addons". Of all the PH's I've played lately none of them are doing these combos anymore. They're either running a normal build or they're running Engi's fang and some other busted stuff

She does have counter play, including:
- Genrushing to the max
- LOS
- Hiding
- Being unpredictable
But let's not ignore that most killer perks are SO much better on Nurse than they are on any other killer. She is the best killer in the game and this only amplifies her power. Examples:
- A full gen slow down build is REALLY oppressive as Nurse and can quickly lead to what feels like an unstoppable snowball. For example if you can't find the Ruin + Undying in the first 2 minutes, the game's over if she pressures and plays well.
- Infectious Fright, Agitation + Star Struck combo. It's really oppressive with Nurse.
- Slugging all game is really oppressive as Nurse, especially with a good build + Infectious Fright.
- End game perks like NOED (with Infectious Fright), No Way Out and Remember Me could give Nurse a win by slugging everyone, regardless of anything earlier in the game (except cleansing 5 totems which you won't have time to do against a good Nurse).
Another area she's great at is tunneling. If you DS her you're still a blink or 2 away. No one can really body block her in a chase for you like they can do with other killers to distract them. Same with BT, she'll catch up or even down you in a blink.
Also, one of the biggest problems is that matchmaking sucks. Unless you're in a full SWF, you're probably going to have a weak link. If you're facing a really good Nurse, everyone has to play as optimal and coordinated as possible. You don't have time to waste, gens need to be rushed, fast. So facing a really good Nurse in solo queue (with this matchmaking especially) is usually horrific.

Nurse is stupidly powerful, but survivors can totally out-skill her. The survivors need to completely change their looping style to LOS blocking and unpredictable pathing. Sorta like huntress, but to an extreme because she literally throws herself at you. If a survivor uses pallets, windows, holding W, yeah obviously they're gonna cry and rage on forums that she's "overpowered" because they last 10 seconds in a chase where they give the killer free hits by being in the open.

I'm mostly sure it'll take something more than 20 seconds due to health boost and dead hard.

if you can get a hit with one blink and recharge, you can pretty easily get a down in 10 seconds. You can check out my vid on YT, I downed a guy in like 12 seconds I think (from the hit to the down). But yeah, if you're in a regular chase, 20 seconds seems about average in a quick chase.

She can only chase via blink, and when she gets it wrong, she's punished with fatigue (and can lose sight of survivors), and a cooldown on re-using her power.

You know it’s amazing really. Spirit gets directional audio and reliable counterplay yet you still wanna throw shade at people that enjoy Spirit until Spirit is gutted into being unfun and clunky.

I have to disagree. There's tons of tricks you can use against Nurse. I actually feel like she's the most mind game able killer.
