The ultimate counter to the Onryo
- Let yourself get up to 5 stacks of condemned.
- See teammate on last hook getting chased by Sadako.
- Grab a Tape and run to the TV you have to deliver it to in order to remove stacks. if not at 6+ stacks, shut off a few TV's along the way.
- Wait at said TV until you become fully condemned.
- Watch Sadako break chase to come after you/teleport to you.
- Pop in tape while she's approaching/teleporting.
- Enjoy the fact that you just saved your buddy, probably from across the map, and she came after/teleported to you instead of getting a kill, for nothing more than another exhaustive chase.
Works even better if you 99 a heal on yourself before you get fully condemned and insert the tape. Having a healthy survivor get fully condemned is tempting enough for most Onryo's, but an injured one? IRISISTABLE! As soon as one killer we played against realized they'd been played by this tactic, they DC'd, and being a previous killer main myself, I felt pretty bad, but come on, the devs likely knew that survivors would figure out tactics like this to counter the new killer. Otherwise this is just terrible design.
I used this strategy with my friends and in solo queue, works like a charm!
Remember, Onryo is literally the noisiest stealth killer in the game. If she's demanifested, you get a 24 meter "Lullaby" warning if she's in your area, and everything she does: Vaulting, Breaking Pallets/walls, Picking up, Dropping, Checking lockers, Manifesting, Demanifesting, Teleporting to a TV, etc... is all DIRECTIONALLY AUDIBLE TO YOU. Basically, she counters her own stealth mechanic just by existing, and that is always in your favor!
If the devs aren't already kicking themselves over these terrible design choices, and trying to correct them... All I can do is laugh my ass off over anyone who has bought her!

I bought her and her ultra-rare skin. I think she could use some buffs, but I have so much fun playing as her. She is my favorite killer and my new main :)

Well, killer mistake I guess. If you kill that guy in front of your nose or mori someone else makes no difference, you could get both but give up on the first. Also Im not sure if this is really that much of a strategy. I also heard someone saying how bad condemned is and that you can "totally ignore it because even if you are fully condemned you can insert the tape mid chase as it takes no time to insert the tape". Yeah, you decide to totally ignore it and basically give away a free hook state to cleanse midchase. Sounds ignorable. Like old Mori.
Im also not that sure if you can switch off 2-3 TV's in time once you notice the dead hooky guy is in chase
