Crossover Characters

I'm curious as to how many of you regularly play as the guest characters and if any of them were your reasoning for getting into DBD. What is the appeal of the OC characters for those of you who don't play as guest characters?

For me, DBD is all about the crossover aspect. I don't want to waste any time playing as the no-name OCs when I can be playing as Cheryl, Jill, Laurie, or even Quentin. I'm a big fan of horror which makes the crossover aspect very appealing to me. Even so I don't think I would have bought the game if not for Silent Hill (although to be fair RE would have likely sold me later on).

Not here. I got into dbd because my friend told me to play it with her + her bf lol, though out of the three characters I'd say I main(ed), which were Freddy, then Pyramid Head, and now Sadako is vibing beneath Pyramid as a secondary main, they have all been licenced characters.

And I have never seen ANOES, Ringu, not played Silent Hill 2.

Though on the survive side, Claudette Morel and David King supremacy.

Unfortunately none of the original survivors have ever appealed to me that much, I'm not 100% sure why. It's not that I don't like them, I love basically all the survivors and their designs but none of the original ones ever stuck out as ones that I wanted to main

All my mains are licensed characters, mainly because I know them from their source material and I'm a fan of said source material. I guess original survivors only have their backstory and design to go off of whereas characters like Bill, Leon, Jill, Cheryl, Ash etc all have their actions in their respective series to give them that added 'coolness' factor to them

It's different with killers though bc Original killers have some of the best and most fun powers in the game

I never played Silent Hill or Resident Evil so those don't really mean much to me as franchises. I like Nemesis and Pyramid Head as killers though, they're fun to play. πŸ™‚ Likewise I never played Left 4 Dead so Bill being in the game is just an old grumpy looking guy to me.

As far as the TV/Movie characters

    • I'm a big Bruce Campbell fan so Ash being in the game is pretty awesome. πŸ˜„
    • Nightmare on Elm Street and Freddy are a great franchise. It's a bit too bad they got the remake version instead of the original but the remake was ok, I thought Jackie Earle Haley was decent. As far as Freddy goes in the game I like playing him, Dreamworld has a neat aesthetic and I like his teleport and fake pallets (I know they're not quite as effective as snares but they're way more fun! πŸ˜„)
    • Texas Chainsaw Massacre is kind of overrated as a franchise. It's decidedly "ok" but I was never dying to see Leatherface in the game. He's an ok character to play though.
    • Demogorgon is ok to play, and I liked Seasons 1 and 2 of Stranger Things (never saw Season 3).
    • Michael Meyers is the classic slasher killer, super glad he's in the game in that respect. I'm not really into base kit Meyers as a killer, but he's really fun to play using his Mirrors and Tombstones.
    • Saw and Amanda are good franchises and I like the little details they added in the game and in the trailers with Billy and getting Tobin Bell to do the voice over in the trailer. I also have fun playing Pig so I like this chapter. πŸ‘
    • I only barely remember Scream as a movie so Ghost Face being in the game is like "ok, that's cool." As a killer I do think his stealth and stalking is fun, although it can be slightly fiddly at times.
    • And finally Pinhead from Hellraiser is a great addition thematically, he really fits well here. I also really like how they incorporated the box and got original recorded voice lines for him. Definitely a fun one.

I definitely love the fact that so many popular horror franchises meet in this game and still think it’s great to get into matches against those various killers without knowing at the start who it is. I also think the original killers are designed in such awesome and fitting ways that they all work in this realm together!

i guess I got into this game (watching YouTube Let’s plays) because of the various franchises.
