Cheaters are not getting banned
I've made at least 15-20 support tickets with proper proof of hacking. None of which are responded to. Now I'm running into the same hackers I've already reported. Some sort of response to let players know that something is being done would be appreciated. With no answer I'm done buying anything from this company as it is obvious by now that they dont care. Which will inevitably lead to me just not playing anymore. Which sucks but at this point its just the principle of it all.

What is even the point of easy anticheat?

Weird cause my reports are banned in a couple of days. Im probably not the only one reporting though.

Generally, companies ban in waves.
They essentially collect reports and compile a list, then suddenly a bunch of accounts get banned in one go.
This is generally done to catch more people, and delay development/refinement of a new obfuscation tool to block detection. The second they start banning people, the hack is marked as 'detected' and then modifed.
Yeah, it sucks to run into hackers. But - and this may help - it looks like BHVR are MAC banning people (if a thread a bit back was to be believed), meaning that once they get banned, they won't be back unless they buy a new PC.
Don't worry - they'll get theirs.

I've said it before and I'll say it again and maybe even a third time if I'm feeling bored!
It would shock me if even 75% of the playerbase knew how to actually properly fill out the report system because this system is so damn archaic that multiplayer games in the 90s would scoff at how stupid and overly complicated it is. Out of the 25% that DO know how to report it, it takes so long that I would think at least half of them don't even bother. Then out of the ones that do report, there's so much to put in that it is real easy to just make a simple mistake and now your report does nothing because when you were typing in user name xXx6969420TeabagYurMomLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL6969xXxx you inadvertantly typed xXx6969420TeabagYurMomLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOL6969xXxx and now your report is thrown out the window.
Then when a miracle happens and someone DOES get banned, you go onto one of the many hacking sites, pay $5 for a fully loaded account, and hop right back in (though I've been told some have gotten so sophisticated that they can unban themselves, though I cannot confirm that myself).
It's pathetic

Yes, the report system is daft and outdated.
However, from a thread earlier this year, it looks like there's a MAC ban too - meaning that unless you are dedicated enough to spoof your MAC address (actually really tricky and unreliable), once you're banned, you're not going to be playing DbD on that PC again.

It might be happening but either people are going around it or BHVR is saying they're doing it but not actually doing it as the amount of cheaters doesn't seem to be going down at all. That's all anecdotal evidence though as we'd have no way to know what BHVR is actually doing about these things but just looking at the landscape of the game, BHVR is either not doing nearly enough to curtail the cheaters, what they're doing isn't working, or cheaters have found ways to go right around what BHVR is doing.
3 -
Support doesn't tell you if they get ban or not. They only send an email saying thanks for the info we will look into it.
So far, every cheater I've reported got ban.

I've had a cursory look around the internet (literally...nothing I could link here without getting smacked by the mods though) and people definitely get banned in waves. The MAC ban thing is anecdotal, but does seem to be becoming the industry norm.
There is a reason for that - game hacking has become a big money industry, and incredibly sophisticated. Even top tier proprietary anti-cheats get bypassed pretty quickly, and the only games that have managed to stave off most of it are entirely server-side.

Mods might not like it.

They're. 10 out 1000 at the time.

How do you know? do you keep tabs on them? I hoped and assumed they actually did something with the reports until i saw the same hackers
0 -
My conspiracy brain thinks that bhvr has their hands in that money based off of their lack of trying to fight it. I hope not because if thats the case we wont ever see it leave the game.

like what
0 -
How do you know? At minimum they should have some sort of automated response to the outcome of the report so the players know they aren't wasting their time.
0 -
Yes, I can keep up with their profiles and check back in to confirmed the accounts been banned.
0 -
God that seems like such a hassle. I guess I can start doing that too. Only reason why I even thought of making this post is because I just saw this hacker yesterday and reported them about a week ago. So its very disheartening to think that going through the reporting process results in nothing happening.
0 -
Yeah that's something of a crackpot theory that almost certainly has no basis in reality.
2 -
Hence why i said my conspiracy brain. Weirder stuff has come true though to say that it has no basis in reality is a bit hyperbolic
0 -
No, it has no basis in reality. I don't think I've ever heard of a mainstream competitive game where the devs were involved in selling hacks - not just because it would be career suicide, but because it would almost certainly be illegal.
1 -
Yup because there are no white collar criminals out there lol. I dont believe this but I'm not going to sit there and act like its not possible

Well, I guess I don’t share the attitude in this thread. Confirming the accounts get banned justifies the effort I put in (it’s really not much). Players just complain on here with no basis and say the system (that I know works) does not work in order to either:
- Demotivate other players from reporting. If so, you’re a bad person in my view, or
- Get players banned without evidence. If so, you’re a bad person in my view, or
- You don’t know what you’re talking about. If so, you can look up how to report players.
Where do you think you fall from one to three?
0 -
Doesn't matter if they ban them because they have tools to "un-ban" themselves.
Saw a twitch streamer who's now been deleted from twitch literally showing it live, BHVR banned him and he removed it and started doing it again.

I just said in my last comment that im going to start following up my reporting with checking back on the accounts. It genuinely never occurred to me to check on previously reported cheaters. The only reason why I made this post was because I saw a hacker yesterday that I reported a week ago.
If anything you and a few others here just reassured me that it works. Which is kind of what I was looking for. Why so hostile?

I think these threads are getting old for me. I’m glad you came around. Happy hunting.

Possible?
Sure, anything is possible. It's possible that my keys were taken by a dwarf that lives under my stairs - but it's not a reasonable belief, as it's infinitely more likely that I'm just an old man who can't remember where he puts things.
Ockham it.
Because you are pushing a silly theory that the developers are actually involved in selling hacks. That's not an accusation you really want to make without some sort of evidence, even obliquely.
0 -
i didnt push anything. I said in the beginning of this conversation that the thought had occured to me. No accusations or anything. i did not outright state that i think this is happening. In fact i said the opposite
Why are so uptight about this? I am allowed to speculate and if nothing is actually going on. Then its just banter on the forums and harms nothing.

Shrug.
If you are allowed to express an opinion, I'm also allowed to express the opinion that your opinion is a little daft :)
1 -
My opinion is that you look for fights on here and offer no good insight. You enter a conversation with a specific intention and have no growth on your thought process, but hey thats just my opinion :D

...
I have no idea what you're trying to say here, but I think we've run out of productive ground for discussion. I'm out.

I'm on Xbox and not one of my reports are even review we d because all we have is the stupid button that the devs put in and don't review anything reported. They need an overhaul of the report system and better anti-cheat. Like if a player moves at said speed without certain triggers, then kick player and inflict ban status.
If statements in coding aren't difficult. Not sure why these parameters are in this game. Other games use the same anti-cheat system but it seems this is the only game cheaters are freely getting away with it.
Lots of subtle cheaters these days too, especially those lagging the game for an advantage which I see a lot.
The game needs an overhaul on the cheat system and quality of life in general. Wish the devs would wake up and realize these things are hurting the game.

On the one hand, it’s understandable Behaviour doesn’t tell you when other players are banned. It’s generally good practice to keep transactions between customer service and people they deal with private.
On the other hand, I definitely think Behaviour should seriously consider implementing a system where a replay file automatically gets attached to your ticket when you file a complaint. Players having to figure out how to manually record their own games and attach them on a web ticket outside the game is unnecessarily putting all sorts of additional hurdles on the players. If tickets automatically had a replay file attached behind the scenes that customer service could use for reference it would probably be very helpful for their reviews and also help get the evidence they need to ban more cheaters more efficiently. Not to mention also helping with things like being able to use those files to help with tracking down related bugs.

I doubt a replay system could be implemented at this point.
The ingame system would never work, because people will falsely report you for cheating far too much. It's why I actually leave my profile public, and even then ill still get people calling hacks who apparently cannot read perks / addons. There would be millions of false reports for the devs to go through.
I have also never seen a game so thoroughly hacked. Usually in games you just see aimbots instead of outright god mode + holding the game hostage.
The other problem is that tons of survivors are happy to have a hacker on their team. In a game like TF2 both teams will actively work to get rid of a cheating player. DBD the survivors will be teabagging at the exit gate along with the hacker half the time lol

It's been almost 6 months since I reported an obvious hacker. The other people in-game were trying to help me grab him, but we couldn't do it.
Checked his profile a week ago and he still hasn't been banned. I stopped reporting people, it doesn't really seem to do much for me.
2 -
It usually takes weeks for a ticket to translate to a ban.
Some of my cheaters (the ones I remembered) got banned after a month to six weeks.
0 -
Because I keep track of the profiles.

to easily bypass it

20 tickets… poor helpers …

I agree, they probably report, just so they can keep the imagine, yeah we ban hackers,1 out of 10
