Struggling against Onryo
![UnluckyDucky](https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/avatarstock/nSEFTFR71TQJC.png)
So I'm really having a hard time going against the Onryo. Like I don't think she's OP, but I still greatly struggle to deal with her because of her surprise attack and overall map pressure.
I've gone against her back to back games tonight and its always with a BBQ and Chili, Lethal Pursuer, Ruin, and some other aura perks usually. My first game she found me IMMEDIATELY, because LP, and I was able to get away thanks to Lithe, lucky a window was nearby, but I barely had any warning with that cloak thing she has.
But for the rest of both games she just STOMPED us into the ground. We couldn't even get 2 gens done! I was able to loop her for a while, but she'd eventually give up, and if any gen progress WAS done, it went away due to Ruin. Her constant map pressure of just teleporting anywhere she wants every single minute is a LOT, especially when she's got BBQ. I'll be across the entire map and unfortunately I'm near a TV, and BOOM--she's there, instantly. Even without BBQ she has like a free aura-perk because her passive fear thing will jump up if a survivor is near a TV when she appears--so even if we manage to hide, she knows we're nearby and can find us.
I heard her teleport thing has like a 60s cooldown? Which seems fair enough, I guess, since she's only rated as like a B-tier killer, but man does it make the entire map just a danger zone, especially if she has BBQ.
I already struggle quite a bit with stealth killers, like Wraith and Pig, but on top of that she's got wicked map presence. Plus i heard she gets a speed boost or something coming out of the TV? like how wraith does coming out of cloak? Idk, I don't have her, and basically none of this info is on google--I've legit been trying to hunt this info down for a hot minute.
Side note, 60 seems insanely short for someone who can teleport ACROS THE ENTIRE MAP. Plus she gets a speed boost coming out of the TV? As a baby legion this just seems so unfair xD because even if I hit EVERY survivor time JUST perfectly, there's STILL no way I'd be able to cross these ENTIRE maps in a single feral frenzy--and thats even if I can manage to FIND all 4 survivors, AND hit them. Even then the base frenzy only lasts 10s((which i had to play a game to find out, because NONE OF THIS IS ON GOOGLE)) and the base recharge takes 34s, including the 4s STUN Legion gets.
Just don't know what to do. I've seen ranks of all survivors just crumble to this killer, and IDK how she 's just "B tier" because I've yet to win a game against her unless they were just COMPLETE noob who didn't teleport.

Play against her like you would Wraith. Keep an eye on your character icon and watch for a bar to be added to your portrait. That is the only time the teleport is relevant to you. If you get a bar, she's a single woman in your area.
Just treat her like a 115% speed killer. That's all she is. If you really don't like her teleports you can deliver a tape but I rarely have to deal with filling up my bars unless it's a really long match. Then if you have 3 or 4, just grab a tape and deliver it. No big deal.
...if you're cheeky you can condemn yourself and I promise Sadako will drop everything to go after you. Just deliver the tape before she can get to ya.

Do you use headphones or speakers?
She makes very clear sounds and has a lullaby.
3 -
It's probably your teammates too. She's just an M1 killer but they go down to her like every 30 seconds.
1 -
im dumb, i never thought to condemn myself! i completely forgot the tapes were even a thing! god i feel so silly now! okay, ill try that strategy isntead. l ike i said i can loop her easily, i actually got her chasing me around a single long for like a full 30 seconds it was like a tom and jerry episode ngl
2 -
i feel like if i do hear her i barely have time to react, like she comes out of the TV and just rockets to me so quickly. as for the lullaby ill have to pay attention more, i nevert really hear anything aside freom the static noise when she comes out of a tv

She has a lullaby so you can be alert when shes nearby and not get surprised, as well as she not being invisible so you can see easily were she is coming from.
When she tps there is a global audio and if she tps near you you can tell from where by a directional audio, she has to wait 100 seconds to tp to the same tv again so tp is innofensive if you have headphones.
Now if thats not your style you can take the tape from the tv and prevent her from tping there and since condemed is useless you can just put the tape last second before getting fully condemed.
Finally, concerning chase, shes an m1 killer so you as survivor are the one who dictates the chase, equip deadhard since sadako can't do anything about it.
Hope you can dunk on some sadakos with these tips.

i got my basketball shorts on, ready to dunk! ty :)

I recommend headphones if you can swing it. This will help all your games immensely.
If you're worried about aura perks, bring something like Distortion and/or Calm Spirit. Spine Chill to give you a heads up until you feel more confident. And you can also bring the good ole pebble perk to distract her from your location in a pinch.

Am I the only one that really struggles to hear her Lullaby? I know it’s almost identical to the noise she hears herself when demanifested, but I cannot for the life of me hear it as survivor.
1 -
The 60s is a lot when you consider that any TVWhen she teleports its a 100s cooldonw on the TV she exits, its 60 if a survivor turns it off

i have headphones. big massive ones that let me hear every blade of grass move. i dont hear this "lullaby" everyone talks about.
1 -
I think when they say "lullaby" they mean Sadako's ambient static noise. Like when she's getting close, you won't hear a terror radius, but you will hear the sounds of, like, electronic static.
If you ever want to practice with someone I'm happy to do customs with you as killer!

her cooldown is 100s, and it's extremely punishing.
I've gotta ask, how new are you to the game? how much time do you have in?
also, all of the killer number values (like legion's base frenzy duration) you're talking about are all very publicly displayed on google, on the dbd wiki page for the killers. they're alllllll listed out, every number value for every killer, all in categories for easy viewing. are you sure you've looked enough?

you're probably not familiar with her sounds. she has a TON of sound effects that give you information on what she's doing and where she is; it makes playing around TVs really really really really really easy.
just because you can hear things doesn't mean you know WHAT to hear.

legit looked everywhere legitimate. looked on teh wiki, ive googled it, checked 3 pages of google, checked dbd threads--nothing says how LONG the frenzy lasts, without mods. trust me, I really, really, REALLY tried to look. if you would be so kind, and since its so easy for you, please send me a link that has this encyclopedia of information of every stat of every character in game, because I cant find it myself.
and playing around her TVs, doesnt seem to do anything. unless youre willing to hold a tape teh entire game, or are really good at looping, theres hardly ANYTHING ive seen anyone can do against this killer. every game ive ever played with her i dont see more than 2 gens pop. her semi-stealth while is easy to see, its only easy if youre OBJECTIVELY LOOKING FOR IT. If i just happen to blink at the wrong time, i could miss her phasing animation as shes approaching, and most of the time her TVs are right next to a gen or objective, so listening for her is almsot impossible because the TVs drown out so much ambient noise--unless i take the tape. but even if I am able to get an audio or visual warning, theres hardly enough time for me to react. if she craws out of a TV, shes about 2m from me at max, and the audio cue maybe gave me a 1-2 head start on her. if i visually see her coming, thats about a 30m headstart and tahts ONLY if I saw her wayyyyy over there as she was phasing.
ive been trying to find youtube videos on how to counter her and literally every "counter" video i can find is just some looping GOD going "lul so easy" which isnt an option for me. with 300+ hours in the game i know what sounds are supposed to sound like, and the static noise everyone calls her lullaby hardly counts as a cue to me because the entire game is affected by a static affect, both visually and audio.

If you're looking for learning resources, you can find what you're looking for on each killers individual page:
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Frank,_Julie,_Susie,_Joey for example
The amount of time Frenzy lasts for example IS on there, it's just worded a bit weirdly, to quote:
Feral Frenzy:
- Power Charges: 10 charges
- Coupled with a Power Depletion rate of 1 c/s, this makes Feral Frenzy last for 10 seconds.
However if the wiki isn't smth that's being helpful, might I suggest a youtube channel for you?
This guy has a whole series on DBD's killers and breaking down how their power works, all their addons and so on. Some of his videos are a bit outdated now but the majority of them still apply and he made efforts to make follow ups to reworked killers

If anything, you should be more concerned if she has tinkerer or other undetectable perks. Most killers produce some level of ambient noise. From what I can tell, she only really produces ambient noise when unmanifested. Which means that while manifested, aka, able to attack you, she doesn't produce sounds on her own.
For the counterplay: take tapes, play safe. Don't give an inch. You won't need to play as conservatively as you do Oni before his first hit, but if you really don't feel confident against her, drop the pallet, hold W. Some of her other choices, like Make Your Choice or other exposed perks can be pocket aces to give them momentum.

Huh.
I think you're the first person I've heard saying this. The only Onryos I've had trouble with either got very lucky with us not finding Devour in time or were very, scarily good players who'd probably have clapped our cheeks no matter who they'd been playing.
But sure, here's how I handle her:
- Immediately split up on gens, especially on indoor maps. I run Discordance on her, and people love to give me a ton of free Condemn all game.
- She has a very distinctive lullaby, if you hear it keep an eye out.
- Spinechill is basically her hard counter, much like most stealthies. If you're really struggling against her, make sure to equip this.
- Don't try to mindgame too much. Once you're in the loop and get a bit of time, maneuver and exit towards the next loop. I ran one for almost 4 gens earlier on Heaven - just don't outsmart yourself. Predrop.
- She makes an incredibly distinctive noise when she pops out of a TV. If you have a flashlight, you can blind her immediately and without counterplay. If not, just hoof it. She gets a small dash (pathetic really) but don't underestimate it.
- Her pickup animation is a bit wonky. I've found that you need to time a pallet save just before the survivor leaves the ground. I've yet to land a flashlight save.
- Her height gives her limited perspective, making it easy to lose her in grass/corn or simply hide.
- NOED...watch out for it. Ditto MYC.
- Her small size makes her lunge deceptively long, much like Freddy's. Again, don't outsmart yourself.
- Very good Sadako's will use TVs in chase to head you off. If you see her flicker and vanish without hearing the demanifestation sound, immediately turn around and run the other way.
A lot of people compare her to Wraith, but I find that she feels more like a really bad version of Demo. But treat her the same as you'd any other M1 killer.

Okay, I need to clarify something.
She does NOT have a teleport cooldown.
At all.
Zero.
However EACH TELEVISION has an independent cooldown. The duration of that cooldown depends on whether the TV turned off from her teleporting to it, or if a Survivor turned it off.
A Sadako can absolutely teleport, get a down quickly, hook you, and then teleport away immediately to a new TV.

the dbd wiki, the top result on google for "DBD Legion". scroll down, under the "Power Trivia" section to the "Feral Frenzy" category of stats. There you'll see,
Feral Frenzy:
- Power Charges: 10 charges
- Coupled with a Power Depletion rate of 1 c/s, this makes Feral Frenzy last for 10 seconds.
I'm not sure how ya missed it, but you can find, as I said, literally every number for every killer on the dbd wiki. it is always on their page under the power trivia section, just 3 scrolls down. hope this helps you dude.
also, 300 hours in dbd is really not a lot whatsoever. don't beat yourself up about it. looping isn't the easiest thing in the wortld, and with time, you will find that this isn't an issue for you anymore. as for her audio cues, i have no idea what to tell you. i can hear her coming out of a tv from miles away and prerun every time. i don't know if it's a human brain thing, an audio quality thing, an experience thing, not sure. but i have found her TVs, and her cloak, to be very very easy to avoid. either way, as i said, you just need more time to bake your skills in the oven, and that happens naturally. no guide is going to help you. i was struggling hard too at 300hrs, even though it does seem like a lot. seriously, you'll be aight man, don't worry too hard about balance or the results of games.
if you do wanna keep talking about it, how well do you perform in chase vs her?
0 - Power Charges: 10 charges
-
Real simple on this one don't camp pallets, use spinechill , and pull the tape from every TV you come across. She turns into a terrible version of wraith!
0 -
She basically has zero powers

Her 'lullaby' isnt the thing you would think of when someone says lullaby. Instead of hers being humming or music, its more of a metal screeching noise, kinda like someone dragging their nails across a chalk board. And it's only 24 meters. If you hear it, you'll typically only have a few seconds to react before she sees you. Ive noticed her lullaby can be increasingly hard to hear when you're working on a gen that has a decent amount of progress.
