AITA?

So I came to find out I'm a very petty person sometimes. This week I got a Bubba daily, went into a match and downed a Feng within the first 30 seconds. This Feng then proceeded to get unhooked and decided to stand still.

"She wants out because she got destroyed", I figured. I chainsawed her and picked up just to get DS'd by the prick who then proceeded to idle once again. This for some reason awakened something inside me, a wrath not even I knew I was capable of, and I decided to M1 her and leave her to bleed out. I didn't mind the crow notifications, I didn't mind her teammates desperately trying to pick her up just for her to instantly get downed again because she refused to move, I wanted her to either wait 4 minutes on the ground or get the 5 minute penalty when she DC'd.

This back-and-forth ended up going on for over 10 minutes, since her teammates kept delaying her death, but she eventually bled out and I kept playing normally. Once the match was over the endgame chat was flooded with report threats and trashtalk, telling me how illegal it is to force someone to die on the ground (which I know it isn't so my conscience is clear on that department), or about how the Feng was actually a victim of her circumstances, and I should've just let her out of the game.

Now, from my perspective, although petty, my actions were justifiable. If she wanted out of the game, she shouldn't have DS'd me. You made me lose 5 seconds of my time, I'm gonna make you lose 4 minutes of yours. Also, if you're having that much of a bad day you can't even try to play after getting downed once, you shouldn't queue. This is not just YOUR game we're talking about, it's mine AND your teammates' game. By giving up in 30 seconds of the game starting, you're automatically dooming your team to lose. A 3v1 at 5 gens is just not winnable for survivors. I believe my actions punished her by making her sit there and watch as her team fell apart because of what she chose to do (she was there, she trashtalked me afterwards). Also also, if she DC'd once she realized my intentions were to make her bleed out and her teammates would keep picking her up, she'd wait 5 minutes instead of over 10. So that's on her too.

Anyway. Because of this one person I grew to hate people who give up early. As Bubba I see those quite often. Cocky survivor gets downed quick because they let an instadown killer sneak up on them, gets frustrated because they played bad and decide "well, screw my team, i'm not doing this". If the person idles or shows signs of giving up when there are over 3 gens left I'm just gonna slug them to death. It feels satisfying, like, "allow me to remind you I'm the one who gets to choose when you leave the game".

I've been reflecting a lot and maybe this is something I should tell my therapist about. Should I feel guilty or am I doing the right thing? AITA for doing this?

It's within the game rules and if she truly wanted out she could hold the run button and prevent her teammates from healing her. We know she's at the game because she hit DS.

Do I think it's petty? Very. Would I do the same? Not at all. Does it suddenly make you a terrible person? No it's a ######### video game lmao

It’s just 5 secs lol why are you this pressed about it? You take it way too personal it’s just a perk, you were being petty about it. But I also dislike players that give up when the game just started so I can’t say I feel bad for the Feng

I think both of you we're at fault,if someone wants to just get out of the game let them, they wont contribute anyway.

Anytime someone says "maybe this is something I should tell my therapist about" they should talk to the therapist because there's probably more going on if that thought crosses your mind.

AYTA? No. Are you easily triggered and petty? Seems like it when you say "you wasted 5 seconds of my life so I'm going to make you waste 4 minutes of yours."

not gonna pretend i know the original poster but i get into that mindset sometimes and usually it's bc i feel stressed about something else

dbd is not a de-stressing game, if you don't already feel good you're gonna be pissed a few matches in

If that's A-Hole worthy, then my actions are equally A-Hole worthy. I HATE people who try to quit like that. If you want to quit that badly, take your DC on the chin like a champ, don't ruin four people's game.

Anyone who tried to suicide out of the game with 5 gens left but is either rescued or accidentally KOBEs off the hook gets to play "lie on the floor" simulator if I'm the killer. You're doing your time brah, whether it's a DC penalty or you stare at the ground until you bleed out. Don't try to ruin four people's game because you're throwing a hissy fit for whatever reason. If that makes me the A-Hole, so be it.

I had feng pull that yesterday while i was a survivor against Nemesis. The rest of us were really on top of our game but when she got downed once she just dead weighted. I kept picking her up because i was running wglf and botany so since a gen was there (which unfortunately got an extremely lucky zombie spawn i figured spend about 6 seconds to convince the killer to waste 15 seconds is a great trade off. (which he kept doing) Unfortunately despite this Nemesis being god awful at chasing the rest of us down eventually my teammates' medkits ran out and I couldn't always patch them up. Nemesis eventually hooked my last surviving teammate as I completed the last gen. My teammate killed themselves so I could get hatch and despite getting chased around 3/4 of the map I couldn't find it. The fact that it took the luck of an AFK, a godlike zombie spawn, the rotten luck of injured players not finding their teammates and full meta perks this killer was STILL unable to stop 5 gens from popping. Had this Feng played normally this would have been a game where he probably got no more than 1 kill.

If i see someone who wants to die because the match didnt go in her favour and she wants to leave their mates behind, i am going to let them bleed out and let everyone else escape.

Maybe she wanted her survival points from DS, 5 seconds is nothing to 4 mins....... I don't get why it's that serious

I think it's 100% on her, and not you.

You paid for your license for your access to the videogame, and you're on your own team playing for your own entertainment. Theirs is absolutely none of your concern, and if you had fun doing it then their opinion does not matter. If she really had an issue and had to leave she should have just DC'd.

Never feel bad for anything you do in the match , you're enjoying yourself and they can DC if they don't like it , people get all up in their feelings for next to nothing these days

Unless that person confirmed they were lying then calling them a troll is pretty un-cool.

Who cares? His cousin shouldn't be playing this game if he's prone to seizures there are plenty of things that can trigger them in this game aside from flashlights , why should I feel bad because someone is irresponsible for a condition they have? If I have sugar diabetes I'm not gonna eat alot of chocolate, if I have blood pressure problems I'm not gonna eat salty foods and if I've got lung cancer I probably shouldn't smoke, this is no different I personally think they're full of it and are just trying to get flashlights nerfed because they got bullied and this community is full of a bunch of babies with sopping wet diapers,

If he's telling the truth, his cousin had an epileptic seizure, which could very well have put his cousin in serious risk of dying and must have been a traumatic experience for them both. Why is the common decency to show sympathy for what he and his cousin must have experienced completely lost on you?

  • The_Krapper
    The_Krapper Member Posts: 3,259

Because people are blaming flashlights when this whole game is a epileptic seizure waiting to happen everywhere else , I don't feel bad at all because it's like watching someone hooked up to oxygen smoking a cigarette they're doing it to themselves, people are just wanting flashlights nerfed like someone saying your flashlight should break when you click it etc.. all of it is horseshit

Haha, you are not alone. Young people and their superfluous shortcuts.

If you feel guilty because you wasted your time and someone else's time, you will not get absolution here. Are you so triggered by a DS that you let the person bleed out because of it?

Posting anything here always generates an interesting discussion. This went from morality and time waste discussion to seizures in a matter of hours. Pretty cool.
