Adressing the cheating issue

BHVR, if you wait for the AI bot to be rampant on DbD before starting to take measures to counter it, it will be too late.

  1. Find another anti-cheat system, co-work with some companies that are actually good at it or require EAC to greatly improve their service
  2. Using a kernel 0 anticheat is now a necessity, not only for DbD but for all multiplayer games.
  3. Start to change your ban policy to HWID ban the cheaters. Banning the account when DbD only cost 2 to 5 euros is not productive, cheaters will buy new accounts everytime they get banned.

Kernel anticheat : https://levvvel.com/what-is-kernel-level-anti-cheat-software/

  • Better efficiency
  • LoL and Valorant have it and there are literraly no cheater, or almost

HWID Bans : https://blogili.com/how-does-valorant-anticheat-do-hwid-bans-and-are-they-legal/

  • The computer's components are banned
  • Cheaters have to change the whole PC/Inet system to play again (sure there are some way to bypass it as everything is not perfect but most ppl won't try)

Cheating worsen in DbD since the game has become a great success. When it was a niche game, there was no problem. It is time now to act and to do something about it.

BHVR, you have told us that DbD was an immense success with 50 millions unique accounts sold + many cosmetics/DLC sold aswell. How much money is it ? It is time to use this money wisely, for the players.

Nah it is not too late. I play at high MMR and i don't encounter many cheaters. In the last 15 hours i haven't encountered one cheater, or at least it was not blatant cheating.

Looks like something too expensive and that takes too much effort, in short, not something they will ever do

Well it is on their side.

I know how those companies are working/thinking : short term profits, no long term strategy

But fact is thinking this way they end up loosing money.

DbD is the only "good" asymmetrical game, they have a ton of great licences and with a better anticheat system + better balance/SBMM they would have a gem of a game for the next ten years easily, bringing millions and millions of dollars into the company.

Not dealing with the problems we currently have will end up killing the game by the end of the year = no more revenue.

And honestly, i doubt that BHVR will be able to develop another good game. They have been lucky, really lucky with DbD.

Some people talk like its an easy thing to come up with a proper anti-cheat system. basically every other game has the same issues with cheaters, its not a dbd or eac exclusive issue. other systems have the same issues detecting cheaters on a solid base. there is no system thats works really good.

Cheaters in Valorant (and LoL) are really rare and tend to be almost non-existent :

    • Getting a ban is really expensive as if you want to play Valorant you then have to buy a new Computer
    • Developping cheats to by-pass vanguard (which is updated regularly) requires too much effort for the cheating industry and they loose interest doing so

    To resume it :

    • too much risk for the customer --> less potential customers, less money for cheats developers
    • anti-cheat system & updates requires too much effort --> too much time lost for the cheat devs
    • players still trying their chance get HWID banned --> bb we never see them again

    --> less and less cheaters

No system is perfect but harassing the cheat developers is the only way to win the war.

EAC is well-known for being not efficient at all...

Cheaters will buy new accounts the moment they're banned

Yeah how else would this game make money

BHVR doesn't care about us. They care about money. And soon, more players will leave this game for good.

What is awesome is that its the official forum and we barely have any devs or community manager bringing answers, roadmap or anything about core subject.

    • balance = not a single word from BHVR on this forum (like detailed goals or smth)
    • cheating = not a single word at all

I mean, it's a forum, the official one, why don't the devs interact with us here ? BHVR communication is weird, like if they were in an ivory tower.

HEEEEELLLLOOOO the community is here, give us infos.

I haven’t ever experienced hackers/ cheaters on non-crossplay console games tho... maybe DBD’s only safe haven, for now

Good luck in trying to get Riots own designed anti-cheat for billions of dollars, while it was already discussed on a controversial level since its release. Just because something is working in an other game better doesnt mean it will be better in dbd. Also, that system probably has some lawissues still going on.

Vanguard just check your files all the time, it is scanning your PC and looks for cheat programs, that's all, it would be effective for every games.

I'm pretty sure they already do hardware bans. It just doesn't really work because spoofers subscriptions are like 2 bucks a month and if you already gotten your hands on cheating software in the first place then procuring a hardware spoofer is banal.

I got blinded and dropped a survivor. Then I looked at the ground and was still blinded for 10 seconds after that. Ban cheaters.
