I do feel for survivor issues
I will say that my thinking on this game's balance is usually killer-centric, because it's the more fun role (ideally) to me, and I play it a lot. I think the role has a heck of a lot of issues that have needed addressing for years, and it hasn't happened yet. If you were to ask me if the game was survivor sided, my answer would always be yes. But that doesn't mean survivors don't have their own problems. It's unfair for the killer to make a few mistakes, because they're only human, and lose the game by a landslide. But it's also unfair for a survivor to get killed guaranteed if the killer chooses, simply because of which killer they were, off of getting downed a single time. It's unfair that they can't really avoid getting tunneled if nobody has BT or DS. It's unfair that they get teammates that are so far below their skill level consistently in solo queue. I play survivor too, so I know these things. I don't know how we're gonna go about it, but I'm hoping some time in the future, both sides' problems will be solved, and not just one or the other's. Not everyone likes to play both sides, but if you do, you will have a far better grasp on game balance, and the general appeal of each role.

...what the ######### is happening im agreeing with a danielmaster post

Not used to agreeing with you, but I do it wholeheartedly here.
18 -
Ik I'm in such disbelief I'm seeing this from them.
But jokes aside I'm glad people can also see problems on the survivors side as well. I hope both sides problems can be fixed for everyone's enjoyment
5 -
mmr has definitely made survivor absolutely abysmal and has shown the flaws of solo queue much more hence on your point about the tunnelling
4 -
Survivors do come with their own issues, and I think it's the toxic sides of both roles that lead players to constantly use meta perks. For example, Survivors don't want to be tunnelled or camped so they use DS/DH to prevent them from happening. Killers don't want Survivors to constantly blind them or crouch spam when they stun Killers or get to the exit gates, so they use lightborn/NOED.
5 -
Understanding and playing both sides is the key to a good DBD future.
9 -
Yes.
And not just a little of "the other side", something approaching an even split of hours in surv/killer. Too many people just identify full on with their main role, and have no clue about the other.
And I get that it is harder to learn two sets of mechanics, and time consuming, which is a big reason why so many people only play one or the other. But I think it's necessary to really have a remotely informed opinion about game balance. You can always tell the people who say they play the other side a lot, but don't.
Plus, playing both sides evenly will make you better at both, provided you put the time in.

I totally agree with you. I only play really rarely survivor with my wife because I can't find much fun in it. But since I'm a killer main and she's a survivor main we have a relatively good understanding of the problems each side has and I think that's is an important thing to don't fall in these bias opinions
2 -
Love to see this! Acknowledging that the other side has issues as well and not just focusing on your own issues with the game is the best way to make constructive feedback after all 👍
this game can be a pain for everyone and needs QoL and balance changes in all areas (except for buffing SWFs over solos)
6 -
I Think you said it perfectly.
Both sides surely have ######### they have to deal with.
2 -
Dude, just play as The Entity. No more problems
5 -
The weird part is that no one adresses the real problem, we all just blame eachother. Just count the daily topics from both sides complaining about whatever. And for me 1+1 is 2, and this means that BHVR wants these issues ( for whatever reason) to excist.
Most of us left the game once or twice....some more, and always getting back to a much worse state of the game. Complaining about perks, toxic game play like camping, tunneling. clicking teabbagging.....you name it, and i'm sorry to say, but what does BHVR do to adress these problems....nothing.
All stuff that could be fixed by changing things like BP or time ect, but instead they come out and brabbel something about game mechanics and hockey.
Offcourse players from both sides DC or stop playing by killing themself or go AFK.....another well discussed topic.
Could you immagine how big the player base COULD be if these things got fixed. A killer or survivor who just started to play and get stomped on the most nasty ways is gonna dump this game when this is happening 9 out of 10 games.
So many options...casual and tournament mode, change the way bp is rewarded, so called mmr....pffff
You might think that a company would do everything to create more profit, so that should tell you something.
5 -
It would be easier to play both is q times were not abysmal in peak hours.
1 -
Very well said!

Solo survivors have to decide if they want faster queues or better teammates, there aren't enough killers for both.
1 -
Solo survivor has always been the bottom rung of importance to Devs. Then Killer. Where as SWF is their darling cash cow.
I think 4 man SWFs can absolutely obliterate Killers who aren't really advanced and experienced. Coms and the ability to plan, strategize before hand, organize perks/items etc is an insane advantage. SWF's can also be cocky and show it (not all, but you know the ones). Killer in turn might have no choice but to tunnel one person out to have a shot.
Enter casual Solo queue (moi and company lol). I think some mid-tier Killers learn these tactics from streamers or whatnot, and use the same method. It is so easy for a Killer to win if they face-camp the fist survivor downed against Solos. Many Solo survivors being camped at the beginning opt for the 3 min penalty and D/C. I am so tired of the 3 vs 1. . Yesterday I had a Freddy so determined to tunnel me out he literally chased me all game and then facecamped. And I mean i could see up his nostrils he was so close to me. It was a rare match where my team mates knew what was going on, and despite knowing they could all run out the gate, they tried to make the rescue (team mates all coming to rescue me? It's like winning the Solo queue lottery it's so rare. One had BT and though they mobbed behind me, Freddy still went for me. He downed me again, postured, did cocky gestures, and DS got me out.
So yep. I can't play a game where I don't bring BT or DS. It would be foolish not to. I'd love to try other perks, but at the same, I'd like to have a shot at playing the match I waited for LOL. I know Killers feel the same about some gen regression/gen control perks.

I can't agree more. Before i play survivor more, i always thought survivors are unfairly strong. I saw all issues after i started play survivor more. My mind changed after this, Solo-q is worse than killer exp.
7 -
Completely agree, I’m curious how hard it must be for new survivors to jump in, get tunnelled and camped, wonder what the drop off rate is for those players, obviously without good perks they’ll get dunked on hard.
Or maybe that’s how new killer mains are born haha
2 -
Solo q can definitely be worse but it depends on your mates.
Sometimes randoms can be the most fun you can have if you get competent mates and then its also fair for both sides.
Sadly you mostly get selfish trash mates.
2 -
Usually when I go on a losing streak with survivor, that's what I do. "I'm tired of this! I'm gonna show how much better of a killer I am than these guys!" and then I get stomped in that too, because the survivors I get are always better than the teammates that get me killed.
2 -
Hahaha I’ve had that! I play solo q a lot and sometimes after many losses I switch to killer, only to get swf, rip
2 -
Yeah solo que is amazing. First match today and my teammate was working with the killer. Sigh. I do hope they somehow balance the solo experience better.
1 -
Solo Survivor is pretty much how I play the game constantly. I don't have any DbD friends and no one seems to add each other from SOLOQ ever, so... I enjoy it for the most part, it keeps the horror element of the game going when I'm solo q
1 -
It's not exactly hard to play survivor, camp pallet, camp T walls, DH, DS, iron will.
2 -
Same!

The beacon we all need. Fix the game in general. Survivor and Killer join forces to make the devs give both sides what is needed.
1 -
Welp looks like the shape shifting reptilians finally got him lol jk, but I can agree with this.
0 -
Who are they?
1 -
that's a bit dismissive sure those can make the experience easy
1 -
Lol I was jk, there's a conspiracy theory about shape shifting reptilians it's basically the equivalent of saying you were abducted because this was a out of left field and unexpected from you but yet I do agree you're not wrong.

Unfortunately in my opinion BT is a help, but doesn't prevent tunnelling. And DS is the same. If a killer wants you out, theres practically nothing you or anyone else can do about it. I personally refuse to use DS, as it doesn't stop tunnelling, just delays it. I always run BT when possible, but again as I said it doesn't stop it.
I honestly believe that the only way to stop it is if there is a penalty of some kind introduced, yet I don't think it will. The alternative is if killers stop doing it, and judging by some messages I've seen, that simply isn't going to happen.
I play both, and I do what I can to avoid tunnelling, camping or slugging. Yet one instance that's still fresh is where I faced 3 identical characters, who then complained of tunnelling, even though each time I had to injure then down.
2 -
And of course, all 3 bombarded me with messages about killing myself, what they would do to my family, the most hateful messages I've ever seen. All because I said I tried to avoid tunnelling, yet its hard to do when theres 3 identical characters, all with flashlights, all uninjured to start with, and all running together.
2 -
You can't take those people seriously. They're always the victims of tunneling because everything the killer does is tunneling to them.
2 -
Usually it just rolls off my shoulders, but they actually hit close to home on that occasion. My mum, my 7 year old, it was just vulgar, abusive and completely unnecessary.
Was there tunnelling? Yes, but in all honesty I believe I did my bit by allowing the unhook and heal. If I am patrolling gens and I find the 3 Megs who then split off, I pick one to go for. There's no way to tell them apart. When I manage to down 1 am I supposed to check if I've already hooked them and if so leave them to be revived?

We haven't agreed much... or ever.., but this I agree with completely.
1 -
Anyone who plays both sides (at a good amount) would be able to understand the issues both sides have to deal with.
1 -
It's very nice to see a post most of us can agree ok, in that both sides have issues that need addressing.
Side note kick ass name, no Bias I swear 😎

Tell me this why is tunneling a problem??
There is no rule book for either killers or survivours. The player can choose to play anyway they want and should not have to explain themselves afterwards.
Survivours who complain about tunneling need to understand that its just a game and move on.
0 -
Yes, but they want to play and they can't when they get tunneled and have no anti-tunnel perks. It's a relief to get a survivor like that as killer, but nobody wants to be that survivor. I've only been in that position a couple of times, but I have to say if that was like half my survivor matches, I would have stopped playing survivor entirely.
0 -
Thats why i said its just a game not that deep. Do people really take video games that seriously? I mean its just game, if you die then play another match and if you die again play another. isnt that a part of the game? Also killers who complain about losing as well, if you loose 3,5,10 times in a row so what , loosing is the best way to learn. But this mindset is more important for survivours to learn cause they tend to take tunneling and camping to seriously.
0 -
I can't think of a single issue that plagues me when playing solo survivor. For the most part a vast majority of the game is dependent on my decisions.
0 -
I kind of agree, but also not really. The fact that survivors view handouts as necessary and take them for granted is disgusting. If you get downed by a Leatherface when you had an entire map to work with, not only is it fair that you die for it, but I would say it is well deserved. Git gud, baby survivor.
0 -
SWF is killing the game, both for killers and for solo queue survs like me... getting matched with 3 people that play together is BS. They always try to get you sacrificied or troll around you to get the killer's attention on you while they're on comm and you're clueless as to what the plan for the trial is... only 1 or 2 out of 10 matches with SWF you find decent people that will try and and make you have a good time as well.
0 -
Did you play 4 man swf?
2 -
So you're saying every survivor should be able to take Bubba on a 5 gen run?
4 -
But there's no avoiding tunneling, and theoretically it could happen to you every game. The best you can do is last as long in the first chase as possible. And really, does a survivor deserve to lose the whole game because they lost 1 chase? That's why the game needs to be pushed in a direction balance-wise to allow for multiple chases, because it allows both sides to actually play the game. You can't just "play another one" if you're getting the same results each time, even while improving.
I don't know what else to say. You're saying that we shouldn't take video games seriously, but that we should get better which requires you to take it seriously, and if there's a problem it must be the player's fault somehow, never the game's.
1 -
What if you get garbage teammates constantly, even though you escape often which supposedly raises your MMR?
0 -
But that's wrong! The game is built around survivors getting chased 3 times, not once and it's over. And if the game isn't balanced around that, then it should be. You don't see anything wrong with a survivor dying guaranteed (if the killer chooses) because they went down to Leatherface once?
0 -
I'm not even sure what the ######### this game is balanced around anymore, game isn't balanced around anything survivors do nor anything killers do, maybe it's balanced around spectators?
1 -
I could care less honestly. As long as I'm having fun I don't care.
