Players Numbers - How to annalyze it
Players Numbers - How to analyze it
So, there are a lot of topics about player base numbers from Steam. So, I got really annoyed how people doesn’t understand how to analyze numbers properly. You can only compare things that are identical or at least similar.
Example: Can you say if MJ (Michael Jordan) is a tall? To answer that you must compare his height to someone’s else. Mainly, the comparison is going to be with the common population (averages of some sort) or with other basketball players. First, you can compare it to your height (useless comparison); than you can compare it to other famous basketball players Shaq, for instance (less useless); lastly you can compare it to other Shooting Guards born in the 60s (useful comparison).
Number of players playing DBD is the same thing. To compare running months the main usefulness of this number it to say the impact of an external event to the player base, such as, DLC launches; a pandemic; school vacations; and that’s it.
To draw conclusions about the “dying state of a game” you must compare it to the same period of the past, in this case, you must compare January 2020 with January 2021, for instance. And even like this, you must consider external factors, such as a pandemic.
Long story short, I won’t analyze the table I’m bringing you, I will leave that to you, reader.
