Behavior got it backwards

Right now it takes 80 seconds to do a generator solo, and although it's faster with multiple people, survivors receive a penalty when multiple people work on the same gen.

This can actually encourage survivors to actually split up on gens because if one gets chased, the other 3 can each crank out a gen in under a minute and a half. That's 3 out of 5 gens they need gone and you're not even 2 minutes into the match. Which can cause a lot of matches to end before 5 minutes, especially on larger maps, which there are more of now. Adding in the fact that at the beginning of the match survivors have all pallets up, it's the reason why they're strongest at the beginning of the match. Killer is only strong towards the end, but that's really only dependent on how the match plays out. If they split gens and don't 3 gen themselves, you could find yourself at 2 hooks once the last gen pops, and this happens quite a bit. Which makes the killer feel like they have to tunnel, slug, and camp just to secure a single kill.

All of this system seems backwards to me and unnecessary.

It would actually make more sense to have generators take longer at the start of the match if only one person is working on it. Something like 120 seconds or something for a single survivor(just an example, numbers aren't definite.) And then when multiple survivors work on a gen they get a buff. With 4 people working the same gen it only takes 40 seconds, 3 would only take 60, and two it would only take 80 seconds, something like that. Then have it to where as the match goes on, as survivors die, it takes less time for a single person to complete a gen. Meaning that as survivors die, the remaining survivors still have a chance of completing gens.

Right now, if one person disconnects or kills themselves on hook at 5 gens, the chance of the remaining 3 survivors doing all gens and escaping shoots down drastically. This would make it to where even if that happens, the remaining survivors still have a chance. So as one dies it takes less time to complete a gen. And then if another dies it takes even less time. Giving survivors, even if there's only 2 left at 3 gens, a higher chance of actually surviving.

It would also mean that killers would have more pressure in the early game if they are able to chase multiple survivors off a single gen. Generators wouldn't fly by in 2 minutes. It'd give survivors a chance to be more tactful in which generators they choose to do in which order. It'd pretty much keep the power balanced between both roles throughout the match rather than one side starting with all the power and the other side gaining power IF they can snowball and control the match. Matches would probably be a little longer, maybe around 10 minutes consistently which isn't horrible.

Obviously it'd need to be tweaked and worked to find a sweet spot, but the goal is to balance power across the entirety of the trial, while also keeping matches from ending in 4 minutes.

Yeah that’s probably to prevent 4 ppl from working on a gen and having it done in 20 seconds, resulting in 100 seconds worth of actual tome spent on gens
