POV: You bought a new killer recently and you're trying to learn how to play him
The amount of toxicity this game player base has is incredible, even trying to practice new killer is a nightmare game and post game chat wise so isn't mmr supposed to be separated for different killers? but even in a brand new killer it's similar to my usual matches.

Different Killer MMR is basically meaningless.
It probably does exist, but it may as well not for all the difference it makes.
19 -
I noticed that much, no matter which killer I play it's the same skill level survivors I go against.
0 -
I lost thirty something games in a row with Nurse before I noticed much of a difference.
and then I retired from Killer and Solo Q Survivor. I only played again for these MMR tests.
7 -
Soon you will be camping, tunneling, and BMing survivors as a second nature
14 -
I'm waiting for the dark side invitation letter.
1 -
And?Only one way to get good with a killer. Learn from you mistakes. Killer, you can make one bad chase. Against a SWF. That's game. Quit giving yourself pressure to do as good as your main. Have fun even if it's a 4 man out. 'How can you deter that in the future?' 'What can you do to better the playing field? '
Point is. Give a new killer a chance and enjoy them. Learn their in's and outs.
3 -
That's some survivor main propaganda.
"Just have fun getting dumped on, teabagged and BMed at the exit gate, and abused in post game chat"
Yeah, I'm good. My recommendation is NOED on killers you are learning. Or Rancor if you feel confident using it. No 4 man outs ever, it's the ultimate disgrace.
15 -
Survivor main propaganda? Lmao. So. You don't play killer at all? Or you just think your pips and rank mean everything?
"OH I went to gate and they t- bagged me, my life is so rough boo hoo feel sorry " grow up. It's a game. People will be crappy, wonder how you handle real life if you can't handle some online people making your life rough. Cry harder. "Must be survivor main cause he isn't triggered by t bagging" or maybe I just don't care and find it funny? Lol
5 -
I don't care about pips, rank, or bloodpoints. The only thing that matters to me as a killer is kills.
I guess you enjoy losing, you do you.
4 -
Ain't no fun in this at all,a lot of killers like slinger are weak and getting trolled by toxic swf's isn't a fun experience until you * learn * a new killer I'd rather stick to nurse after all until it's possible to practice in a more friendlier environment.
0 -
Clearly you must to care that much. It's funny the killer mentality you get so mad over a t-bag and Macro you throw the game and get butt hurt. Poor you. Some internet person didn't play how you like:(
1 -
There is no friendly in comp
Get good, quit crying and grow up. It's a game. Poor you:(
0 -
I would expect nothing less from a Nancy pfp to be fair. If I had a dollar for every time someone cried about camping and tunneling in this game I would be a rich, rich man. I get tears literally every day I play killer.
But that's the usual double standard in this game. Survivors can cry all they want, but killer? Nope. Git gud.
That's how I learned. I probably played my first ~300-400 hours on Nurse. From there I moved to Wraith, although i'm not sure how much I would recommend him these days. The M1 killers can still compete but your only strategy is basically tunneling at 5 gens +2-3 slowdown perks, otherwise you can't win with them.
In before this survivor main tells me "just 12 hook the survivors on coldwind in 4 minutes with clown 4head"
8 -
Not talking about comp and swf only so basically if you're a god nurse and suddenly you get bored and you want to buy a new killer you will get matched with same level survivors the game matches you with when you play your main so you have literally no chance .
Also get out of here with your survivor main BS.. So being toxic in game chat isn't enough and you want to bring that toxicity to the forum too?
4 -
Yeah basically. Quit crying. No one actually cares. Play the game or quit? Quit the "woe is me my life is hard" crap. You don't like it, than stop. "I hate when survivors t-bag me, or flashlight spam" want to know a good counter? Quit caring.
0 -
Wraith was my main when I started the game until I moved to huntress and nurse it's much more peace of mind playing nurse tbh you can't go back but she took me tons of hours of practice to do get the hang of her.
2 -
Oh please. You wanted a high MMR being a one trick now you complain when you try something else? Get good at them. You want to win every match. It's not you 'get a 4k' everytime. You will struggle. Complain somewhere else and grow up. "I want to pick up a killer and be super good right away, why am I not 4k everygame with a new killer or vs new players😡" doesn't work like that
0 -
The counter is to play in a manner that is conductive towards winning, and murder them.
You could try Pyramid Head, it took me a long time to get the hang of him too but he's super rewarding once you do. He's my go-to ranged killer for sure. Godly at tunneling, and can play pretty cheesy if you know the cage spawns.
I play lots of Bubba too since you can't really bully him either. Feed him pallets or die, and he's king camper.
3 -
The point you missed is, that he complained about the totally unnecessary belittling from the winning survivors. Kinda like what you're doing right now.
Getting stomped when you learn something new isn't fun. But when you get BM on top by bad winners, then it becomes disgusting.
16 -
I do play bubba and pyramid head, bubba is good at punishing clicky survivors as for pyramid he is satisfying when you land your m2 but it's mainly prediction in jungle gyms and loops, try hag too even that she's boring she can give survivors a hard time you can patrol and protect hooks at the same time.
1 -
Exactly.
I might be able to lay claim to being one of the oldest people who post on this forum, and saying this probably confirms it -- but I can remember when showing good sportsmanship in any activity was the norm and not the exception. I don't care or get bothered if I win or lose a match, but I do get annoyed at people who are poor sports whether they win or lose.
It's probably a generational thing (heightened by the young age that this game likely skews towards), but showing an ounce of humility when winning or class when losing is something lost on too many people these days, and the lack of anything resembling it certainly adds towards the bad reputation this game has for its community.
9 -
Basically me with Onryo... I keep trying to learn how to play her because she seems fun while not the best Killer and all I get are Sweat Squads, but that has been my general MMR experience since it was introduced. I get, maybe, one fair/normal match every twenty or so.
1 -
"Each Killer you play has a separate rating, allowing you to play each Killer at a level you're comfortable at." - Developer Update September 2021.
Remember that when you hear any statements from the Devs.
2 -
Another reason why I think customs should allow bots to play against to practice and get sense of the power before being clueless in a match
2 -
I haven't played Hag since circle of healing came out. Not even a single match. I used to play her a lot but I know going against CoH would be a hideous slog if the survivors were any good since they can retreat endlessly to the boon. I am waiting for the (second) nerf then I will see how she is. I almost feel like right now she would be reliant on cheesing a grab with rusty shackles to get anything done against a 4 stack.
And yeah Bubba is a bit predictable but with his good add-ons he still feels pretty powerful to me, and I love camping the basement so he holds a special place in my heart. No other killer can reliably send people out of the game with so little points other than maybe Tombstone myers.
1 -
Same if you wanna play fun builds and no anti gen tryhard builds.
I was playing coupe de grace, hex plaything, deadlock and bbq on Nemesis with the iri umbrella badge. Its a surprise one punch build where ppl use the vaccine and with plaything I go with a big ass coupe de grace one punch. Its pretty decent the build but ofc not meta and I got regually ppl trying to mock me and make fun of how stupid I am using those perks.
I will never get ppl they cry about killers using full anti gen but if you dont use it they laugh about you dafuq?

The chat cruelty is disgusting😔
On console, to send a message, a group must be created
i’ve had messages turned off on DBD for 5 years. Even more satisfying is the fact that up until last year, disgruntled PS players were wasting their time typing their hate/toxicity into a chat box, then, upon trying to send the messages, were hit with the “cannot add some players due to their settings,” and whatever misery they were compelled to allow themselves to be overwhelmed by during the match was potentially magnified to a new level when they realized that I’d never be forced to participate in their guilt tripping or gaslit into their sinister toxic trap. I wouldn’t be inflicted by them in any way. I’d never feel their suffering at all... just unlimited power😌
Mmr is wonky by the way, like, to the extreme of being janky. I get matched with hella skilled god loopers on killers I’ve only played a few x’s... it’s lopsided n bogus, imo
4 -
Yeah Onryo players are suffering through the same thing she's basically a weaker wraith her condemned is useless and her stealth too basically you're playing an m1 killer with random teleport locations ability.
1 -
I noticed that everyone plays the shame game when you bring meta perks or anything survivors hate and you're supposed to be chill and play for fun, follow survivors rules and give hatch to the last survivor but they never play for fun or in chill ways it's always the same 4 perks and gen rushing marathons so everyone can tbag at the exit gates..
2 -
Here you are, you’re invited... be welcome friend☺️🍰🎂
3 -
He didn't complain about t-bagging.
He didn't complain about macros.
What you describe is called survivorship bias. Google it, please.
8 -
I'm on PS5 and have been playing for 2 years. I turned off messages a week into playing the game after someone I didn't rescue from a Basement camping Bubba sent me a message telling me to uninstall and off myself. Best decision I ever made. Post-game chat is something the devs should seriously give consideration to removing, as any of the few good interactions people might have are constantly tainted by the overwhelming (and usually undeserved) toxicity.
2 -
Finally my time has come :D thank you !
* Happy bubba chainsaw noises *
2 -
Imagine trying to defend actual toxicity like this.
6 -
I blame streamers. Of course, not all streamers. But we certainly had a fair share of toxic streamers and people that imitated them.
Suddenly winning wasn't enough, they somehow got a kick out of making others feel miserable.
This is a game. People should play it to have fun. Feel competitive and enjoy after a long day of work. They shouldn't dread to start it up, because of how they get treated.
8 -
Well... shoot dbd isn't balanced around being comp. (Comp as in competetive, yes ?) (I mean it is competetive because you compete against 4 survivors or a killer, but yknow what I mean)
But I guess it became a bit more comp since mmr.
(The advice is good tho. Just don't care because you are learning and obv won't be as good as your main, and also don't care as much because "it's only game. Why you have to be mad ?")
0 -
Best thing you can do for yourself in this game is close chat and keep it closed. No good comes of it. The occasional "gg" isn't worth it.
I turned off messages on PS4 and learned that silence is truly golden. Nothing beats the lack of notifications after a match telling me "ggez" because I lost or complaining about imagined slights because I won.
Killer-specific MMR is pretty crappy. First off, there's a sort of base MMR that affects all your killers. So, if you've done well playing as one killer, that's going to raise your MMR for all the other killers you've never touched. Next up, when you're fresh to the game, MMR doesn't stick you at the bottom, it puts you somewhere low-middle-ish (I think, depending on how BHVR has been adjusting the numbers); I know that's how it works for the overall base killer MMR, and I imagine it comes into play for the killer-specific MMR as well.
In short, to have the kind of MMR you need where you go against survivors who don't stomp you, so you have matches you can actually learn from, you will have to lose. A lot.
OP came in here talking about toxicity in chat making trying to learn a new killer feel miserable, pointing out that killer-specific MMR doesn't seem to work, and nothing you've said has been constructive towards that. No one was talking about wanting to win straight off the bat. You throw out negative assumptions like they're facts. Were you exemplifying the playerbase's toxicity on purpose or was that a happy accident?
6 -
"SuViVoR bIaS" No its called being an adult and not caring what the internet says about you. He didn't complain about what I said exactly. so what is he complaining about?
0 -
Wait, did OP complained about survivor too powerful? Or just about toxicity?
We all used to be toxic, sure. People who grows up know about it and stop being a toxic one, not about being emotionless.
Just the fact you actual defense the toxic by being...toxic. You're definitely not the grow up part.
5 -
Yeah it is ...well not disgusting, but sad.
I'm also kind of sad by the amount of players on ps4 I tried to message just to gg after a dbd match and they had their accounts either private or messages blocked.
Can't blame them tho :/
3 -
Maybe read again what i wrote. Google the term "SurvivorSHIP bias", please.
Hint: this isn´t about the survivor role in DbD.
4 -
Very good point I noticed how tons of DBD YouTubers and streamers are exclusively play to bully killers with different builds and with the help of their friends their only content is making fun of killers and making the miserable for the giggles and players are trying to mimic these actions.
2 -
You can say stuff like that after a game and far worse, and nothing happens, call someone an idiot on the forums and you're getting warnings and mutes.
3 -
totally understand that sentiment; it was a make your choice scenario for me, and I opted to live in absolute peace n freedom of every match just being GG’s all around, w/o the need to message it
...feels good😌
1 -
Yeah I do the same on Xbox it gives me some satisfaction knowing that these players who want to send me hate mail are denied the opportunity post match. It's like the final nail in the coffin after I crushed them in a game. It also allows me to go into a match and just mess about with weak killers and perks without being called a trash bot because I only got 1-2k.
If only they moderated the end game chat like they throw out bans & jail time on the forums for the most trivial things. The reporting system is a joke!
3 -
omg, the very first match I ever played, I was verbally assault-messaged (assSALT, pun intended😉) a bunch of aggression... such a turn-off😔
a good point, tho... devs set the forums to a upvote only feature, and do well to frequently police discussions to mitigate toxicity. Would be nice if there was a better resolve for post game chat on PC, other than forcing the players to simply skip to the character select screen to avoid it.
They remove bugs in DBD since they hamper the game’s internal integrity... toxicity is a bug that attacks the game’s external integrity (its playerbase). If there isn’t a in-their-game (post match) window for toxicity, then it isn’t possible to experience the unnecessary direct onslaught from a triggered player; attacks that have led ppl to permanently quit.
less players = less money
it’s a wonder why they leave that window in the game🤔
1 -
Really? I lost a couple games after doing a no blink Nurse meme build and I started getting actual babies quickly
0 -
“If only they moderated the end game chat like they throw out bans & jail time on the forums for the most trivial things. The reporting system is a joke!”
Coincidentally, I just finished a post with a similar notion. Yes, they certainly could take the initiative to better address the window for toxicity in DBD.
2 -
Don't let yourself get baited, insults and mentions of reporting can get you in hot water. It's best not to engage. Everyone else in this thread has been respectful and empathetic, so seeing it get closed would be a shame.

Thank you for your support and kind words :)
