[Serious] what happens when we report someone?
as the devs said, we cannot have replays because they would need to rewrite the entire code for something like that. once a game is over, it's over. no way to see it.
so... once a report has been made, what data do bhvr employees have access to? realistically, only stuff like: game duration, hook count, player names, loadouts, post game chat, etc...
how would they ever punish someone based on that data? let's be real, the only reportable offenses are hacking and death treaths in post game chat. you may as well update your policy and make any other behavior non offendable, since it's not getting punished.
i mean, there's no reason for something to be against the rules, if everyone can do it with no consequence. let's not be hypocrites.
a question for the community: have you ever seen or heard of someone getting banned, for reason other than hacks or death threats? have you ever reported someone and checked their profile later on, and saw that they were banned? if you know of someone you reported getting banned, was it through the in game report system or did you send a ticket?
a question for the developers: why are we not getting any sort of feedback from our reports?
im starting to think that reporting is just like those scary monsters that moms in the neighbourhoods collectively made up to scare children away from something. "don't go play near the construction site! there is a monster there that eats disobedient children!"
by the way "it's hard to do" is not an answer, it's your job to do that. you get paid to do that. with the money that us, the playerbase, give you. we purchase a game where we're allowed to be harassed, griefed, bullied, and if we dare quit WE are the ones getting a penalty. after paying hard earned real life money, on something that's supposed to be entertainment. it's simply unacceptable.

I'm really curious on what is the official answer.
I made several reports on the website, for both steam and mobile platforms (I encountered plenty of obvious cheaters with big speedhacks), each time I was told "we can't tell you the outcome for privacy reasons, but actions will be taken if it is required". So they say this is to respect players privacy. Dbd is the first game I know to have this policy, and I find it odd.
Also, the form to report a player is only adapted for steam players, I tried to report some dbd mobile players but I don't even know if they can ban a player there. Worst part, cheaters on both of these platform can still create new accounts, and I bet I spent more time doing these reports than a cheater need time to create a new account on steam / mobile.
Now I feel like reporting players is just a waste of time.

You can here read up on game rules and how to report:

Why would you believe they are banning for hacks and death threats but not for other stuff? Keep in mind for ‚mild‘ rule violations there might be just a warning or temporary ban which isn’t visible on the profile.

I don't need to know how to report, I already know that.
you have 9k posts on this forum, who knows how many gameplay hours. you've been around for quite some time it seems.
tell me one occasion of someone who got banned, even a friend of a friend.
the report system just doesn't work. it's a facade.

I've personally reported and verified three accounts being ban.

Well. Others can tell you for sure though
i personally don’t know anyone who got banned. But I don’t really have many friends that play DbD and those that do are not doing bannable stuff.
there are some streamers that do obvious hacking and are proud of the high numbers of how often they got banned as well!

for what reason?
if you look at the op I mention hacking as one of the only punished offenses

.........something happens?

I stopped reporting when I found the videos I spent time making and linking to the reports had exactly 1 view, mine.

For any offense that says "customer support ticket required" in the game rules, absolutely nothing will happen unless you make a ticket.
For the other offenses I imagine stuff actually happens though.

Then I repeat my question that you ignored:
Why would you believe they are banning for hacks and death threats but not for other stuff?

Cheats

My unlisted videos got another view than mine.

So. What exactly do you think is ban worthy according to the rules but doesn’t result in bans?

body blocking, game hostage/stalling, harassing, toxic behavior, idling, working with the killer, the list goes on. and no I known slugging and camping isn't bannable. I know the rules.

those are punished with temporary bans though (besides toxic behavior and body blocking, which is not directly bannable on its own if it doesn’t result in game hostage situation).
the videos that I mentioned that got another view than mine are for working with the killer. So they at least looked at the ticket and watched my evidence. Can’t tell what happened after.
