Hatch Standoffs in 2022?

I've been watching a claudette hide in the RPD library for the last 15 minutes. She has a key and Left Behind. She can see the hatch aura but Nemesis is camping it.
He doesn't want to close it, knowing she can just open it with the key when he checks doors. There are 3 gens left because she wouldn't touch them the entire game.
She hid in lockers while I was slugged until I was about to bleed out. Then waited out my entire timer when he hooked me.
Is the claudette holding the game hostage? Or is this terrible game design? Both??

Some may say Nemmy should just suck it up and let Claud escape, but hes under no obligation to.
Claud could have done gens. Sure that's heatbag, but she can locker hop after she does one until he goes back to hatch or something.

Question
How does the Claud and Nemmy know where the hatch spawn?

That's my opinion as well. Killer is doing his job by protecting the objective. Claudette isn't attempting to progress the match.

In this situation the ball is in Claudette's court she has the ability to do generators if she chooses not too well respectfully she's holding the match hostage there's nothing in the rules that says a Killer standing on Hatch is holding the match hostage but there is something that says if a Survivor isn't doing anything for 20+ minutes it's reportable.

Claudette has Left Behind so she can see the aura of hatch on the first floor from the upper floor of the library. Nemmy must have just found it before she did and knows she has a key. She can hear his terror radius so won't go near it.

Neither party is holding the game hostage in this situation because poth parties have the ability to end the match. Claudette can repair gens or let him kill her. Nemesis can close the hatch.
People seem to be forgetting that in OLD hatch standoffs (where killer couldn't even close the hatch) you could also go repair generators as a survivor and it never bannable for either party.

It's been explained several times by mods and dev's that if a Survivor isn't doing anything for 20+ minutes it's holding the match hostage key or not.

Guess I confused the you bleeding out part.

Killer is holding game hostage by refusing closing the hatch to advance game state
2 -
So this is a game design flaw? If neither side is at fault, it sounds like old hatch standoffs.

Thats only if the hatch hasn't spawned or all the gens have not been done yet. Once the hatch has spawned or the gates are powered the killer has the ability to end the match and it is therefore impossible for a survivor to hold the killer hostage.

Yes that is true but the way the OP is describing this seems like this hasn't entered end game technically.

In the situation OP is describing the claudette is the last living survivor. The nemesis is body blocking an open hatch so she cannot enter it. The nemesis does not want to close the hatch because that will power the gates and claudette has a key, meaning she can just open the door or jump out the closed hatch if he is to close it.
The nemesis CAN end the game by closing the hatch, he is simply choosing not to

After 30+ minutes, the claudette escaped. I was out of the room for a minute so I assume the killer finally just gave up. Guess she's just the more skilled player? I'm sure high mmr survivors will appreciate her as a teammate...

the claudette could just go to the nemmy, try to bait a m1 then jump.
otherwise if she closes the hatch when he sees her, she can tank a hit and open the hatch. you can't grab while using key.

There is a channel time for opening the hatch with a key now doesn't work, youll just eat 2 m1s after he closes the hatch.
Also I'm pretty sure if the killer stands in the correct position on top of the hatch, they block the prompt to jump in, preventing it from being usable.

Claudette is holding the game hostage by not doing gens
3 -
Neither is holding the match hostage because each player has mechanics at their disposal for the game to come to an end.
A match is held hostage when a player can literally do nothing to bring about an end to the game (or at least their part in it)

Claudette is refusing to do gens, which can start endgame, therefore she's holding the match hostage

100% poor game design.

And the killer is also standing over the hatch, the closing of which also starts the EGC. So like I said, both parties have means at their disposal to bring about the end of the game, and therefore it's not being held hostage by anyone.
2 -
Nemesis could have just closed the hatch and sat on top of it if he really wanted to. Claudette could have done gens while he stays there, but pretty sure the EGC timer would run out by then.
It's just bad game design.

Hatch escapes do not increase MMR so moot point, but carry on.
1 -
Oh yeah. I forgot about the gens being blocked off.
But he still could of closed the hatch and went after her. Even if she tried to open it, he could still have a chance at grabbing her because of the hatch animation.

Every player trying to get the Left For Dead achievement reading this thread must feel kinda jealous of Claudette's situation, that's one golden opportunity right there 😄. If the killer is truly just standing on hatch just 99 as many gens as you need and play for gates.

True, fair point. However, people that play like this will tend to die last or escape through hatch, both of which mitigate mmr decreasing. Over time, I would expect someone's mmr to increase by playing in this scummy, selfish manner.

Tbf he couldve close the hatch and stay near it and force her to open a gate since the timer goes down. The gates are very far apart so he couldve easily run across both gates and the hatch.
Honestly though I wouldnt waste so much time only for that one kill, some ppl really have issues.
