Will you try out the new Evil dead game?
The game looks interesting, but the fact that it's going to be on Epic and not Steam (at least initially) is a bit off-putting if I'm honest. Still, I'm interested if anybody on the forums are gonna give it a go.

I hope not but sadly we often do...

No. I love Evil Dead and was super excited about it until I found out the devs working on it, Boss Teams, are part of same company that does NFTs, Boss Protocol. That made me go from super excited to a big old nope.

I have no wish to support boss team games as it would be directly supporting Boss Protocol. In fact, i wouldn't be surprised if they end up making NFTs of Evil Dead sooner or later.

Yes, I love Evil dead!
After watching the show (around the time that Ash Williams came to DBD actually) I absolutely fell in love with Evil Dead, and I was so excited when I saw that they were releasing a game, it looks absolutely fantastic.
What I think is absolutely great is that this game doesn't seem to shy away from the strength of the survivors / heroes. A lot of games that fall in the asymmetrical genre advertise power roles like killers or monsters or whatever, but they fail to accurately portray how strong the "victim" role is. In Evil Dead there is no mistaking the capabilities of the survivors, you've got chainsaws, guns, swords, and you are certainly going to be using them to beat the hell out of some demons in a bloody fashion that's close to the heart of what Evil Dead is. Survivors seem to have much more agency in Evil Dead than compared to other asymmetrical titles, they're competent and experienced, and they know what they're doing (more or less).
(Side note, I love that there are FOUR versions of Ash from his appearances in all 3 of the movies and the TV show. It's great to see every version come to back to life, and be represented in in this game).
I think going forward this upfront and honest perspective is going to make balance a lot easier to manage because you're not dealing with the nuances of a power role that is masquerading as the non-power role. You've got two sides going head to head with their own unique tools and objectives, and I think that's going to present a much more unique and fun style of gameplay that other asymmetrical titles aren't going for. While the survivors are fighting back with their own weapons, the Evil you are in control of as a demon is violent with a cruel sense of humor. You have greater movement, awareness, you set up traps, spawn enemies against the survivors, as well as have the power of possession to take control of your own minions, other players, or even objects like trees and cars which is so wild but so very true to Evil Dead.
As for the whole boss protocol thing, I think it's incredibly sad that people are going to put business and politics over the artistry of games. If you've seen Evil Dead, then can immediately tell that a lot of love went into this project and it appears to be incredibly faithful to the world of Evil Dead (both the films and TV series), while also innovating on the asymmetrical genre and creating some entertaining mechanics that are genuinely unique. I hate NFTs as much as the next person here, but I'm not going to just ignore all the work and effort that clearly went into what looks like a passion project for Evil Dead.
Evil Dead has to be my most anticipated asymmetrical / horror title coming out 2022.
For those of you who responded "There's an Evil Dead Game??" or just don't know much about the game, here are some trailers and some gameplay that have been shown so far:

By cut version, do you guys mean that it'll be a censored version?
That's totally understandable. On the bright side, you'd be able to avoid any potential issues that could happen on-release (mainly potential bugs/balancing issues).
I can respect that. Personally, that wouldn't stop me from wanting to play. I respect you guys for doing what you think is right though!
Hiya, Seiko! Didn't realise you were a big Evil dead fan. Some very interesting points you brought up and you're absolutely right! In many of the trailers, it definitely doesn't shy away from showing that the Survivors can bite back in many different ways. Having many versions of Ash is interesting too! I'm curious how the class system will work in that regard. A lot of people will want to play Ash, so I wonder how they're gonna handle that.

yes right 😕
its because they think under 18 will have no chance to see games, movies, books etc like this 🤷
the original Evil Dead Movie was here over 30 years confiscated

As adult horror fan in germany you always have to check if a movie or game is censored or not. Sadly even 18+ stuff can be censored here.
We have a good site schnittberichte which covers a lot of stuff.
Movies and games we mostly can get from Austria or Switzerland - sadly expensive.

Not a big fan of buying games in Epic Store and I don't own any consoles, so I'll most likely wait for its release on Steam (if ever). It coming to Steam will also show if it can stand the test of time. But the game itself looks pretty interesting, I bet it's a blast when played with some friends!

This game looks very fun! Totally within my wheelhouse, and Evil Dead is such a fun franchise. I don't mind it being on epic, though I can understand if people prefer to play on steam only! I will definitely keep an eye on this one. I like that you can play as good or evil, and I am looking forward to seeing more about how the game plays!

Depends how it ends up to be.

Never underestimate a game's ability to suck horribly!
That being said, I can't wait for it to be amazing

Yes, I don't care for the franchise but gameplay looks fun.

I've been playing it and it's a lot of fun. It's not DBD, VHS is more like DBD than Evil Dead is, but it is a fun game none the less. I think its more similar to Evolve than DBD, but I also loved Evolve, still miss that game, one of my all time favorite games.

I watched a bit on Twitch, but does not look like my cup of tea.

A friend suggested it to me and raved about it, but even though it looks interesting, I'll wait and hear or read what the players have to say about it when the time comes. I have bad spending habits as it is. Shouldn't buy random games if the possibility of regretting it is still given. Also having it on Steam sounds better for me. I don't want to install any other stuff on my computer.
