why do people hate midwich?
i get the rpd hate, but midwich is not that confusing. it's just a square surrounded by rooms. you run along the perimeter and check every room for a gen. then you do the same on the other floor.
lery's is the exact opposite, a big perimiter with infinite rooms in the middle, that do not have a pattern since they're varying in size. a literal maze. the hate midwich gets should be directed to lerys. it probably would if one came out before the other.

Uh it's just a very inconsistent piece of #########

inconsistent? how so? the only trouble i have is when a gen spawns in the front yard, with another near the entrance doors. it's basically impossible to do those and you may end up trigenned.

I'm not as killer but as survivor I think its a but unfair for the killer. Unless it's a fast killer as soon as I see them I just run around the square perimeter. I can run around the whole school twice before I'm even in chase with the killer.
It is a bit fun to so though

It’s not that it’s hard to orient yourself, it’s hard to get around. It’s 2 floors, but you can only get to the second from the corners, one which even being blocked off by breakable walls.

Breakable walls, two floors, terrible hook spawns, fixed exit gates that are lose-lose for last survivor, a chest that you have to solve a puzzle to access, holding W, campable hooks.. you’re right, I really don’t see the issue with Midwich!

Hook spawns are #########. Breakable walls are #########. 3 gens are weird and hex totems are either good or bad.

I don't have any beef with the map.
I actually really like it.

there's also a room in the middle you can go up from though, the one with the library and the really obvious totem spawn.
0 -
That’s still in a corner. There’s no ‘middle room’ containing stairs. There’s only the chemistry class that has a drop and no way back up.

do you like interactive gameplay? if your answer is yes to this question, you should dislike this map heavily.
the entire gameplay of Midwich boils down to holding W around the huge square in the middle, while the Killer awkwardly waddles after you slowly catching up with their 15% faster movementspeed, until they are close enough for you to run into one of the rooms and die trying to loop the pallet inside of it.
if there was a way for the Killer to cut you off when you're just holding W through the hallways this map would be significantly better.

Yay the W key. My favourite.

I used to despise this map. It's grown on me though it still has issues.
0 -
I don't think that's necessarily true.
ranged killers like trickster, huntress, deathslinger, do not have this problem. gap closing killers like nurse, spirit, blight, demo, billy, do neither.
trapper does really well, he can close off entire rooms with his traps giving him insane information and it's also funny as hell. i once locked two people in the bahtrooms with two traps lmao. i've never seen hags but i assume they play similarly.
wraith can just find a survivor in a room and bodyblock the exit. somewhat all stealth killers can catch people in a room. the small size of the map means that your terror radius covers almost all the map and it's hard to understand if the killer is coming to you or he's just chasing another survivor, perhaps on a room directly above/below yours. meaning you either commit to a gen and take a risk or you've just pressured yourself.
some killers like sadako do bad in this map, especially with wonky tv spawn and perhaps artist too but i don't player her so i dont know.
overall, i dont think it's much different in terms of number of killers that do well or dont, all maps have similar numbers.

Most of the gameplay involved is just holding forwards through the halls
it's everything wrong with the W Meta in the form of a map

As Killer, you have to deal with W holding and terrible hook spawns, and as survivor, you have to deal with the fact that it is the most killer sided map in the game (70% Kill rate btw)

Blight and Spirit are way too strong in midwich. And Nurse's Startruck can end up exposing every survivor on the map. Still, some killers like Myers and Pig can have a really bad time trying to catch with survivors holding W, while Blight and Nurse have no problems. So it's a very inconsistent map.

are there some Killers that can do well on this map? sure. Hag loves it, so does Blight. Stealth Killers such as GF or Myers can hit and run on it (considering no one brought CoH, which is ridiculously strong on this map especially) and to an extent Huntress can circumvent Survivors holding W with her projectiles.
But for a majority of Killers this map boils down to just holding down W for both sides.
Even if you can get the jump on someone, with the speedboost they get and maybe an exhaustion Perk on top the second hit will be achieved by holding W after them just as i described above.
the difference between this map and any other map is, that with those other maps when you see a Survivor take off in one direction you can choose a different path and start zoning them out, cutting them off. Midwich does not allow you to do this at all, you just hold W after them or you make a 180° turn and try your luck circling around the other way in hopes that maybe they too just fell asleep holding down their W key and wont notice you doing this, very obvious, manoeuvre.
is it possible to do well? sure. but its about as fun as working your way through the 30 safe pallets Gideon has to offer.

Bad hook spawns, hard to get from floor 1 to floor 2.

My only problem with Midwich is W gamers who just run around and around and around and don't even try to loop.
But as Blight or Nurse? It's like heaven on earth.

It’s just a very brainless map to play on and very beneficial to certain powers. Playing against a hag or nurse on midwich is one of the worst experiences you can have in dbd imo

Unless Im playing Hag I find it sucks. Long hallways with nothing. Rooms with unsafe pallets or windows which require a wall break. The doors are so easy to patrol on most killers.
Also I seem to get Midwich 30% of the time when I play survivor and Im so sick of seeing it.

Don’t forget Trapper, heck even Twins.

Hook spawns are the worst. Hold W dominates here and Its so tedius to hear gen above you but you have to spend like 30 seconds running to the stairs on the other side of you, then go up and then go back where you was before but you are on a different floor now.
For Survivors, Gens can be bit harder to find, versing a Nurse is like "gg go next" and Its tedius to run around floors just to rescue someone.

pray you never go to midvich as a Legion

Eh.
On survivor, it's really tricky to locate gens at times and the totem spawns can be absolutely devious. There are also a ton of dead ends and blind loops. Plus it's small, meaning that territorial killers like Hag have a field day.
On killer, it's really dark, making it hard to see people at times and boons can be an absolute nightmare to snuff (and cover the whole sodding map).
That said - I love the map to bits. It's just so atmospheric.

It's the hallways. It takes an eternity to catch up as an M1 Killer. Survivors just have to hold W and it's gg.
On the flip side, certain Killers really excel because of their powers (Nurse, Doctor, Hag) and feel borderline unfair. Plus, even though there are a couple god-pallets, most of the pallets are super unsafe and easily mind-gameable.
I could keep going, but I think you get the gist. It's a beautiful map, but it just plays terribly.

Only hate it as 110 killers and having all 4 survivors just W key down hallways.
0 -
People mentioned already W keying. The most important aspect of the game (chase) boils down to prerunning, and when the killer is close enough, looping around some semi safe questionable pallets all over again. There are no jungle gyms and the few windows are dull. Literally zero mindgames from either sides.
Other problems such as terrible hook spawns, hooks that are easily face campable, fixed gate locations and horrible gen spawns were mentioned already too

Honestly I really like the map as killer sometimes not breaking a wall can screw you over because of bad hooks spawns
And having all the safe pallets broken benefits you I don't know why but people always use the god pallet entering the stairs like 30 seconds into the match

I like midwich
I just don't like being sent there by Killer players. Usually because it's always Nurse/Blight
I don't really care if I'm sent there as Killer either

against M1 killers with no mobility, you just hold W every hallway no skill / no intereactions you just press a keybind.
I take lery's over midwich 100%
