I'm reading through this part of the matchmaking tests, and it sure sounds like you are going to sacrifice mid-level survivors to high-level killers so they have easier matches?

No, it's not mid level to high level. It's the extreme end of the high level - they will be matched with the next level down, so the really really good players basically.

Mid level is not going to change and that's where the majority of players are. The camp will not be reduced enough to affect mid level matches, just those at the top end of the scale.

Where are you getting survivors from this? It could just as easily be the other way around, based on this paragraph, and either way it wouldn't be for "easier matches", it'd be for "matches". Without a cap, there would be nobody to match with for some players, period.

To paraphrase Peanits from another thread, though, what this means is that the insanely good players will be matched with the merely very good players. Mid-level or average players won't be affected by a slightly lowered cap, at least based on my understanding.

Doesn't this go both ways? I'm just going off what you quoted, but it basically sounds like low level has matchmaking and then when it hits a certain point of MMR, the matchmaking just goes 'F it' and stops tracking your skill.

Honestly, this doesn't sound -too- bad. Lowbies will be matched with lowbies, but when the skill level goes up to a certain point, it forces a less competitive environment with the 'anything goes' matchmaking.

I mean, I dont use any Meta because I know my "reward" is to face killers who dont try hard and keep it mid MMR.

If I keep facing Top tier killers tunneling with 3 slowdown and Noed. There is no reason for me to not use Meta.

For survivors who think like me mid MMR, the variety is truly death.

Escape or death doesnt matter to me, all I want is not getting match that either hold W in hopeless, or hold M1 on Gen and hope the tunneled guy stay as long as possible.

    Sure.

But with the adjustments to the MMR 'cap', isn't this going to lasso a bunch of high-intermediate players into this bracket too?

I'm a bit iffy on this.

If high MMR folks are finding things sweaty, doesn't that mean that the system is...working? High MMR should be sweaty, because that's what high MMR play is like in most games. The best of the best slugging it out will always be like this.

Will have to see how it plays out, but my Spidey-sense is tingling.

Basically high level players like to play according the meta, but they dont like it when their opponent do the same. What they want is relaxed wins against weak opponents, who runs perks for fun and to lose

    Mm.

    That's my exact worry.

When someone says 'games are too sweaty at high MMR' what I get from that is 'I prefer to ride roughshod over less skilled players'.

I'm so relieved to know that all those Nurses that 12 hook the entire team in less than 4 minutes can now do so in 3 minutes 50 seconds, you truly got your priorities straight devs <3
