Something i learned from my break
So i took a break for acouple of months from DbD.
Pursued some other hobbies, joined another community that i'm really happy with. Overall i was a lot happier.
Now recently i started going back to play some dbd and not much changed. I still was happy, and while there are still problems with the game i could brush them aside and pretty much enjoy all the games i played. Win or loss didn't matter.
Then i started going back to the forums. Not even talking that much, just reading what people had to say.
It didn't take long untill suddenly i started getting annoyed at the game sometimes and i felt my mood going down.
I always knew this community wasen't the best but now after being part of an actuall positive one i start to realise just how bad it is.
Now i realise this is probably mostly me being very easilly influenced by such things but i'm it applies in some degree to everyone.
If you are someone who visits the forums dailly and the game is wearing down on you or your overal mood isn't well.
Quit the forums before you quit the game.
You would be surprised just how much this constant barrage of negativity can influence how you feel about the game and outside of it.

Oddly enough there are many games where the community isn't negative.
Maybe it has something to do with the game itself rather than the community that forms around it.
Even in hyper competitive games like MK or SF aren't as negative as this.

I don't think forum affects me negatively atm. It is the game and toxicity that does sometimes.
It is draining.

Have you tried leaving the forums and all other form of media for a while and still play the game.
I didn't think it would effect me wo much either but it makes a pretty big difference

I wasn't always this active on forums but still played dbd and other games. It doesn't make a difference in my case personally.
Some streamers do affect me tho but I avoid them when I notice and just watch more positive ones.

The forums are only the written expression of what is visually seen taking place in the game. Not coming here to talk about, discuss, and debate the game’s problems doesn’t make them go away.
In fact, I would feel worse not being able to vent the frustrations of the game, and at least find some likeminded players or thinkers. Which is why you’ll find it’s typically the opposite here: people quitting the game, and not the forums.

Only if you perceive those things as a negativity. I, personally, find it funny.

Seeing peoples reactions to David becoming lgtb less so

See i'm not sure about that.
In the time i was playing the game but not on the forums i also had frustrating matches.
After them i just stopped and drew for half an hour to an hour and then i was back to playing the game with zero stress. The frustrating game wasen't even on my mind anymore.
If i went to the forums to vent i would have been showered in negativity and constantly keep that frustrating thing on my mind. To the point that when you play the game again you start looking for that frustrating thing cause you focussed so hard on it.
Every person is different ofcourse and if it helps you that's great but for me atleast that kind of venting would be extremely unhealthy and blow up a minor frustration way out of proportion

Gamers like to call fans a "community" but in reality, most just want to argue about the game, what they mean by community is popularity contest groups, where groups gather and go after others.
We have seen it time and time again on twitter, and especially twitch streamer fans. Its like tribes fighting.
Community? Go outside and talk to your neighbor this is a videogame folks.
