Cannot Change Engine.ini Anymore?
Is this affecting everyone or is it just me? Adding lines there doesn't change anything. Actually, game removes those lines if you add them there.
In case someone comes here and says "Make file 'Read Only'", it doesn't help.
Edit: [/script/engine.GarbageCollectionSettings] didn't work for me.

Can't turn off the garbage blurry AA anymore, and BHVR has yet to bother saying anything about it.

Same :(

This a PC thingy?
0 -
Yeah, same for me. Can't play DBD anymore, because it looks terrible with AA :(
3 -
Yes it is.

Should I add it to that tall stack of "means nothing to console" we have growing? ;)
1 -
I mean just because it 'means nothing to console', doesn't mean it's not important. A lot of people used Engine.ini modifications on PC, 99% of the time completely harmlessly to improve the performance of the game. This affects a lot more people than you might think.
1 -
Oh good they locked the engine finally? Guess cheating got a whole lot harder. Rough day.
2 -
Do you have 3000+ shitposts? Because you don't know what is cheating.
9 -
Same here, [/script/engine.GarbageCollectionSettings] not work. With this AA the game looks washed and clouded.
1 -
MFW a 2016 game doesn't have basic settings that every other game in existence has past that period of time
5 -
The scripts, that cheaters use, alter the game engine through macros. So locking the engine prevents many of those cheat software engines to have trouble operating.
Maybe you don’t know what you’re talking about but this thread is asking for the loophole to come back, indirectly.
Get it now?
2 -
Hopefully they add in an option. The game looks so blurry.
0 -
Wrong.
We just want the ability to disable anti-aliasing.
We would happily accept an in-game toggle. Most other games have this basic feature.
It has nothing to do with cheating.

#########, same
That damn AA I had turned off since DBD's existence is now rotting my eyes
*And why is there no official option to turn it off, #########?*
0 -
We had PC players standing in solidarity with us when Resident Evil DLC dropped; that's kind of a poor mindset to have :(
2 -
Then why the ######### exactly in 6 years the game still has no AA toggle in settings?
1 -
I’m okay with an in game feature. Not okay with the engine being reopened.
Know what we’re asking for here.
1 -
I'm assuming this an attempt to do some backend stuff to prevent hackers from breaking the game files more

Honestly a chad bhvr move if I've ever seen one. Why is it surprising they would do this after almost 6 years but still also not add an in-game feature? It took them years to change Iridescent Head huntress from a 3 to a 1, or give trapper 1 extra basekit trap.
1 -
It seems to be more visible when the resolution is lower.
On ultra it is not very obvious.

Pretty sure most "hacks" toy with memory manipulation.
1 -
If this change completely stops cheating, I'm gonna agree. So, I don't want to see any flying characters anymore in-game. Can you promise me that? Nor lag switcher.
0 -
I will promise that my explanation for why the engine-cannot-be-changed-anymore matches my thoughts. This is a good move.
I am in favor of more adjustments being available in settings; yall are right on that. Just seemed to be missing the issue on engine.ini.
1 -
DBD is a PC game first and foremost. Console is an afterthought.
0 -
It was more that you seemed to be accusing the OP of cheating.

Dev 1: "Let's add AA!"
Dev 2: "Noooo... too much work, let's just add the option to blur the screen a bit, call it AA, force every user to use it without an option to disable it, and call it a day."
Dev 1: "Huh, I didn't really think of that. Great idea, no one will ever notice anyways!"
"no one will ever notice anyways!"
"no one will ever notice anyways!"
"no one will ever notice anyways!"
Imagine requiring people to go through the game's settings files just to optimize their games or make their games look better and more enjoyable. Most games nowadays have the option to customize your graphics settings and also enable or disable AA, but now they're completely disabling the ability to turn off their crappy AA method.

Despite all the consoles together greatly outnumbering those on PC? But yeah it does feel like we are a tad lower in priority sometimes, especially peasants like me still stuck on the older gen machines.

True, and I haven't forgotten that. This was a poor attempt at humor that's all.

Twas a bad attempt at humor, I intended no offense.

first they came for the stretched res, and we took it where the sun don't shine - because we were legitimate and justice seeking players.
then they...
