It is a horror game with different characters. This claim has nothing to do with game genre (tagging), it is the same thing if you put "electrician" in tags, implying that you got to repair generators as a gameplay -- it makes no sense.

The LGBT+ lore is locked behind rift challenges for one character. I think new players that were looking for a new game with LGBT+ tag would be disappointed or pissed when they log in and can't easily find the reason why it was listed as LGBT+.

Highly recommend to play the series from start to finished. It get emotional until the very end but dbd isn't exactly lgbt.

This is the kind of game that suits the so called "inclusion". It shouldnt even be a concern in dbd. Its nit a rpg or story heavy game, characters never speak and yet people going crazy about king being gay

Exactly. It shouldn't matter. And personally I think it doesn't make too much sense too either. As ya said, they don't talk or interact with each other. They just exist tryna survive an endless bloody painful and "scary" hell. They should've included it in their datin game if they wanted this to happen, haha. Now there's LGBTQ+ people randomly tryin rp ######### with me (and other people as I've already got to know). It's already annoyin and the news're still fresh. Can't wait for more people askin me why I'm so shy on bein gay (I'm a David main) or indirectly askin for some kind of service or whatever the ######### they dream of...... -_-
Also to OP: I wouldn't support to "let people know" about this whole LGBTQ+ stuff as to my opinion - it's MY OPINION, no offense to anyone else disagreein here - this is JK Rowling style PR. Same happened to Dumbledore. Ya get some important or likeable character in a book, he's there for years, we never get in touch with topics like his sexuality and he never showed any hints, not even a tiny bit that would make sense - people can't hide everything forever, especially when they trust others -, in the canon text - it never mattered. All of a sudden, after Rowlin was known for not really bein too supportive of this spectrum Dumbledore turns out to be gay. Now their motives might not be the exact same and they are not like JK Rowling. Still: Great turn BHR! -_-
I have to add that I understand why they choose an existin character (not wantin to create a token character who's not well accepted n stuff) for it and I'm lookin forward to readin the new background story parts as I'm curious how much sense it makes. I'm open to get more in touch with the gay part of DBDs community (After readin that one post from 2019 I was pissed off a lil and I said some nasty ######### while bein annoyed, I hereby apologise). Still not supportin their decision tho. They're takin the freedom of player interpretation here only to please some people.
I hope I don't sound too annoyed and this isn't too much of a pain to read. Surprisingly, this news has private consequences for me that I have to iron out. And that pisses me off even more. Because, seriously, why would people bust my balls over a fictional character that I'm playin. Well, whatever. I think I've said enough for now. I realise I need to talk and I'm going to throw up somewhere else about this. Not in a homophobic way tho. I'm part of the community myself.

Edit: like, personal experience here, when I look up the LGBT+ tag I look for predominantly LGBT+ games. One gay character isn't this and I'd be really disappointed if I saw it there.

You need to ask the devs, why they ignrom all problems you propose, but set David to gay first, maybe they think LGBTQ+ is the most important thing in this game.

Except DbD isn't an LGBT+ game, and I'm not going to help put it into a false category simply because it now has one LGBT+ character. Hell, Overwatch has two such characters (Tracer and Soldier 76) and still isn't an LGBT+ game, either.
