lgbtism either can't be illness or phobic
but way to reveal david was gay not good
its like overwatch, users never found and cared any characters sexual preference
but suddenly company feed me like more important to know who is gay or lesbian more than their original lore

DBD has a big lgbtq community so why not represent them and cater to them? It doesn't hurt any one and just is a nice thing because representation is important.

LGBT-ism? It's not an ideology
36 -
I think I need a few hours to understand the title.

I think they're basically saying (like most people?) they don't have an issue with David, or any other character, being a part of the LGBTQ+ community.
It's just how BHVR went about it that they have an issue with.
I think that's a fair criticism.
19 -
Is that what LGBTism isn't phobic means? Lol.
What exactly would you have preferred to be done better yourself? The only part where I agree it was overdone is making the special Twitter post just for it.
Edit: also please don't try to protect this person. They had another comment in another thread about how LGBT isn't natural. So no, it's not that the OP doesn't like the way they did it. It's that they did it.

Honestly im just confused that they made sure to announce it out loud rather than wait for people to read the new lore draw their own conclusions and then confirm it, feels more like an agenda being pushed they way they did it, not saying its 100% wrong the way they did it but I feel like there were better options
5 -
I wonder how many days should pass so people will stop making such posts. xD
3 -
But in Overwatch... everyone knows tracer is lesbian
5 -
They should've just added the lore without making having to make a huge fuss out if it. That's how they would've done it properly.
The whole point of inclusivity is to state that "we exist, we're real and we're just like you". Making that huge Twitter post when the lore wasn't even out yet just shouts tokenism as loud as thunder, and I'm hating it.

Did the Sheriff of Rottingham write this post?
2 -
Yeah, I agree 100% that the Twitter post was a really bad move.

Dude, it's made a SMALL portion of the LGBTQ community happy. More straight people are happy for the LGBTQs than the latter. BHVR did bare minimum in regards to their respresentation. They didn't make a brand new character with perks, lore and cosmetics, they just announced out of the blue out of nowhere that David King is gay... I empathise more with THAT gripe. (personal note: Steve has that sailor outfit and they made the Peaky Blinder gay?)

Whenever I see someone saying this "they just put the gay tag on David" thing, I'm wondering, what part of the next tome being about his struggle as a gay person didn't you understand?
12 -
LGBTism?
6 -
imo the main mistake of behavior on that thing was starting to add those kind of things in a game ABOUT KILLING PEOPLE/ESCAPING FROM THE KILLER in the 1st place... no one should cared about it because it's not relevant to the game... if you want that a certain character likes specific kind of people (gay, lesbian, trans, etc etc) they could simply let the people imagine what they want to be of said character...
2 -
Imagination should have been the way to go, but that was thrown out the window when they started talking about straight relationships.
6 -
Steve is a licensed (straight) character. That outfit is part of his job.
and they have written a tome about David’s struggle of coming out, it’s just the tweet that felt like our if the blue.
7 -
precisely... they should have put out out those kind of things from the start... but again we are talking about bhvr...

Well, They had to do it make lore for it otherwise it would just be saying "David is gay".

Translation into English?

I googled LGBTism and this thread is the third link in Google. :P
9 -
Lolz.

They had to. Otherwise it'd actually just be them saying "David's Gay"

Can we have some socialist representation as well?
I was more annoyed at the typo in the king memory 384
"Rik quickly gestures to a giant of a man who escorts the drunken fan and his entourage out the door before all hell breaks loose. Then he shakes his head at David. "One day you're gonna to pick a fight with the wrong guy."
Unless ive missed something with the word to?

How is this related in any way to the topic?
2 -
If I were being nice, I'd say that the way they announced and promoted it was pretty poor.
If I were feeling more critical, it sent off huge red flags for me.
Also, I didn't see that thread, so I can only base my opinions off of what I've seen here.

Socialism is a political ideology. LGBT is not.

If they made a new character gay, that you needed to pay money for, that would be worse. They'd be accused of doing it for the money, and gating the only gay character behind a paywall.
It HAD to be one of the existing, free characters.
Also what? You have to fit a gay stereotype to be gay now?
15 -
Honestly i'd think more highly of them.jfnthey did so. Also, they could always do a taboo, "free content".
1 -
Imagine the meltdown if they made a new free character that’s LGBTQ+….
3 -
At least people wouldn't feel as if they just played eenie minie moe and just wrote lore to justify it as they did now.
0 -
It doesn't feel like that..?
12 -
To some it does. I suppose your not apart of that group
0 -
No they would accuse them of pandering and not actually supporting it but being forced to do it. Creating a one dimensional character whose sole personality is their sexuality. It would be far worse than what we are seeing now with David - which outside of the tweet is a very well written and fitting lore.

We can't really know what bhvr's thought process was. I'm sure there are good intentions.
0 -
The only people who feel that way are uninformed and haven't been paying attention for the last 2 years that BHVR has been working with GaymerX and other members of the community literally on this. Far cry from "eenie meenie minie, mo"
7 -
Wasn’t going to intrude but let me teach you something
the company bhvr got to help them make a gay character chose the perfect candidate on the roster, nobody played some silly game to pick the lgbtq+ rep, they picked david and like they said, perfect choice. Once the full lore drops you’ll see why, cause its really damn good
4 -
BHVR could make the entire roster gay if they wanted 😋
3 -
as a killer main i hope they make all the survivors gay or trans they deserve it :)

Maybe

Tracer wasn't the one that caused the uproar in the community, though. Soldier 76 suddenly being revealed as gay is what caused the issues over there.
People here keep bringing up Tracer when referencing Overwatch. Barely anyone cared over there that Tracer was gay. The problems in the community started with the Soldier 76 reveal out of left field. The uproar was also exacerbated by the fact that, by that time (unlike when Tracer was revealed to be gay years earlier), Lore had pretty much stopped being produced and all Michael Chu worried about was what inclusion card he could play next. Something he admitted in an interview after leaving Blizzard.
At least BHVR continues to expand their lore.

We can never really know what actually happened behind the scenes.

You seem confused, this isn't a maybe thing. They announced 2 years ago, GaymerX also announced it, they've been pretty clear on what they were doing.
2 -
People really should keep their awful opinions to themselves
2 -
If that's what they did, that's what they did.
0 -
But isn't it nice that it's just one of the characters we already know? That shows that lgbtq people are like you and me if I don't tell you I'm gay you won't see it. I'm happy the first gay character isn't some 80s cliche guy with a mustache and a sparkling jacket that does little hops while sprinting
3 -
I don't see the need to assume bhvr would've made a cliche if they had made a new character.

Big drama show

One of the community managers talked about how he (and I'm sure many of his colleagues) wouldn't have felt right about the first lgbt character being locked behind a DLC that you're expected to pay for
If anything that would just make it look like BHVR is trying to just profit off of the whole thing, instead of actually giving a damn about it
Whether you like the decision they made or not, at least it's not something they expect you to pay for. Hell, one thing I respect BHVR for is making the pride charms optional. You can just not redeem them if you're not interested, despite some people crying about it being ""forced"""
