Anyone knows detailed info about vault hitboxes?

I guess everyone experiences strange vault hits and I guess most blame it on latency. On fandom I now read that medium vaults apparently happen "with more of their body exposed" compared to fast vaults.

This sounds like you have a different hitbox when running, and slow/medium/fast vaulting. Or how is that to understand? Anyone knows something about this or has sample screenshots? Was that ever adressed by BHVR?

I would GREATLY appreciate to have an exact knowledge about this as it would most likely tell you what is really latency and what is caused by a different hitbox. And help to not go for hits that literally can't land

Well this is not what the wording says. "more of their body exposed" sounds like size, not like time

vaults currently doesnt have a proper validation system as far as i know soo if you get hit from miles aways is either because the killer has bad connection or yourself.

sadly even if you had a good connection doesnt matter because the killer still have high priority on the window hits rather than the server so high ping killers gets more advantage🤦.

(is weird because PALLETS have validation DH have validation but vaults still doesnt have a proper one)🤔

The day that vaults recieved the same treatment , laggy killers are gonna be pissed.😑

It doesn’t have pallet-like validation on purpose because vaults don’t prevent hits like pallets do. But yes do complain more about a topic you don’t understand.

Next time you see a survivor vault, look at the animation. When they medium vault, they essentially climb over the window, which leaves their back exposed (here meaning in front of the vault or the killer's side, assuming they're being chased) far longer than when they fast vault over it.

This is literally what the wiki meant, it has nothing to do with hitbox sizes. The only difference between a medium and a fast vault in terms of the hitbox is for how long it stays in front of the window before it moves through to the other side.

Survivor hitnox is always an upright sausage and looks a bit like this:

The size and shape never changes, only the position and thus speed of the vault and how fast you clear the vicity is the main factor.

Animations can be misleading, just look at the image above and see how Dwights head and arms are outside, while there's an empty hitzone behind his back.

You can imagine your sausage shaped hitbox and slowly phasing through the wall at the same time as your vaulting animation plays.

The only really janky thing about vaults is when you vault from a height. It will show an animation of you falling, but your hitbox actually remains at the height you dropped from until the moment you hit the ground.

This results in "hits through windows" that seem like they shouldn't land much more often than if you're vaulting on level ground.

So the hitboxes on windows are very deceptive. You not only have to count the frames of you jumping through the window but you can always lunge at the survivor while they're running to and away from it.

So they're actually vulnerable to a hit a lot longer than you realize because a survivor has to get through the window and then actually run away far enough that a hit would miss.

I think it's a tad dumb that you can hit through windows but not over pallets. It's at least very inconsistent.

droping a pallet prevents a hit if is dropped at the right time (CURRENTLY WITH VALIDATION)

vaulting a window prevents a hit if you do at the right time (CURRENTLY NO VALIDATION : so doesnt matter if you do it correctly as long as the killer hits you on his screen you get hit anyway so pray that killer have good connection) and thats a fact.

EXAMPLE OF 200 MS KILLER PLAYING againts a average 20 ms ping survivor:

tell me ,is that fair, getting punished because the killer is laggy?

" topic you don’t understand" chill ,my guy the hitboxes are literally pills for survivors.

Thanks to all the feedback so far

I think that's ok as windows are thin and pallets are pretty thick. your hitbox reaches through a window to the other side but only probably is as long as a pallet, so you can hit a survivor that is vaulting a pallet as long as he vaults, but not when he reaches the other side

that´s the exact issue: hitting survivors through a window when they already have ran away 2-3 meters (some killers can manage to reach 5-6 meters behind a window ...).

Just the same as Hatchets reaching around an entire jungle gym: on the killer side you were still visible, while in fact you´ve already reached the OPPOSITE corner. Tell me that´s fair

We´ve had killers do gen-grabs after already running away from it for 1.5 seconds.

I´ve been hit countless times after dropping from an upstairs window and already running again.

Huge factor for players leaving the game
