The pip system is outdated and only seems to result in me and my friends being saltier about matches
I actually understand having grades not go up because you didn't do enough, but people should not lose progress on their grade because they got hooked by a nodding facecamp Bubba. The hooked party in that matter pretty much has zero input on how the rest of the game goes when a killer has determined to play this way, and if their friends come to get them the best case scenario is a trade. In the end of this match, nobody wins, because the nodding facecamping player probably also de-pipped. It's the same exact story with tombstone myers and AFK pig. It's the same for SWFs that slam gens and gtfo as fast as possible on the killer end of things (although the killer does at least have the benefit of having input all match to be fair).
Now that MMR is in the game, grades pretty much just represent time spent. Losing pips for bad matches only deletes progress and makes games feel like wasted time. I really loved it when y'all made players unable to regress to previous grades once a new one is reached, and I would hope that losing pips is next on that list at least. It just seems to result in players being unhappier than they could be.

I don't think they want people to get 2 million BP without playing everyday.
I advise you to stop caring about pips and just enjoy playing less DBD.

I'm not defending it. They want people to depip, it keeps them playing longer.

If so, then BHVR is extremely bad at their decision making. Personally, the depip does not make me want to continue playing.
Seriously, why should I invest my limited free time in a game that literally reduces my progress ? Why waste 2 hours winning two Pips when you can lose them directly in the next two matchs ? Even if it means playing 2 hours in a day, I prefer to play a game that does not randomly deprive me of my progress.

"Seriously, why should I invest my limited free time in a game that literally reduces my progress"
good question

This is probably what BHVR thinks, but it's wrong.
After reaching iri 1 two months in a row, I decided the BP bonus wasn't worth the trouble as losing pips is too frustrating. I'm not the only person who's come to this realization, either.
Now I'm playing much less.

I agree with this 100%. I just want the achievement so I'll have it for both. I'm pretty bad at survivor, and I feel a lot more at home playing killer (I've been iri 1 killer a few times now, and actually am this month)
2 million BP is nice and all, but after I get the survivor iri 1 achievement I will no longer care about pipping. Which is kinda sad, because normally I like advancing my grade and I do love this game a lot.
It doesn't even matter now, you can't even see grades anymore. I don't know why you're penalized so heavily in this game for having a bad match, especially in a game where tombstone myers exists, face camping and tunneling are a thing, certain maps completely invalidate and make certain killers almost completely impotent, etc.
The other night, I almost made it out of iri 4. I had a game against a tombstone Myers, where I did a gen or two in the start and avoided him successfully and got deleted as soon as he popped it. De pip. Another game where Bubba downs me, hooks me, and then proceeds to stand there and nod at me. Normally, w/e, you're screwing yourself over. When I'm actually trying to get this achievement? My night is suddenly worse and I begin to feel like I'm wasting my time going one step forward and two steps back. It feels pretty bad.
There are quite literally circumstances in this game where the deck is stacked against you. In other multiplayer games, things are usually designed with balance heavily in mind. This game is asymmetrical and honestly could be compared to a fun party game.
I love Dead by Daylight a ton. I think that removing de-pipping would make the game healthier for a lot of people. I wanted to make this account and post because I've noticed this a lot over the last year playing the game, both with my friends and in post game chats. I've noticed that I take things much less personally and have much much more fun playing this game when I'm iri 1 and no longer care.

I agree with this as well. I mostly play killer. One of my friends has recently gotten into this game, and she seems to enjoy it a whole lot. She's mainly been playing survivor, but tonight she just reached iri 1 killer actually.
I watched her last several games, and honestly it was a bit of a slog. One step forward, one step back, etc.
You could actually begin to tell that it was wearing on her a lot by the end, trying to pip so you can hit a goal for the month is much too stressful. After she completed it, she logged off pretty tired and kind of miffed at the game. That isn't a great signal if that's how new players feel about this system.

Honestly I love the game, once I get iri 1 survivor I am 100% not going to care anymore though.
I get that nobody owes me anything. You wanna face camp me? Lets be bored together, buddy. Woo! You wanna tunnel me? I get it, it happens, it makes games easier even if I find it kinda boring and stuff.
Worrying about meeting this rank goal before the 13th has actually made my attitude towards the game and others on it suffer. I resent people for doing these things because I know they're just going to undo my progress, and who can blame them when they're probably competing hard for the same thing honestly? I certainly might in the moment, but ultimately it's the system to blame, not the player.

This a hundred percent. The last two months were a wretched experience trying to get to Iri rank 1 and then the matchmaking just decides to hand me merciless after merciless. With this month's reset I'll just play if I there's a build I'm interested in. And as a survivor I'm just going to say ######### it and DC. If the penalty builds up too much, I can just go and play a game where the developers actually care about their playerbase or at least don't penalize them for playing their game.

I totally agree the pip system is pretty useless, I just ignore it completely personally. I think the only reason it's still in the game is the devs figured it was better to keep it around as a way to give monthly rewards to people rather than figure out a brand new system from scratch that could accomplish the same task of rewarding players who play regularly.
Not to mention that, on top of the Grades and Pips, they also have Devotion levels and Prestige levels which mean even less than Grades but are still in the game. It's easy enough to just ignore all these systems of course but it would be nice if they could revamp or consolidate them a bit or something and make them feel more meaningful. (And who knows, they're probably going to be announcing some details soon on that big bloodweb revamp they're working on so maybe it will impact some of these other things too?)

But i want to have every perk for every killer so i can play in the way i want...
2 -
The majority of the perks in this game are worthless, don't worry about it.

This is just truth, every matches should add a pip regardless of results and maybe give two with good result.

My clown is p3 but my save the best is level 1, i dont have hex: third seal on my p3 demogorgon (i need it for a blind meme build), i just want to have some fun with dumb and worthless ways to play

I have literally never paid any attention to pips. I click thru all that stuff to get to the part where you get to see the stuff people brought.

I feel like BHVR is some kind of old boomer stuck in 2004. They think they're keeping players on their game with a lot of grind and big penalties. Like the MMOs of the 2000s.
They have not yet understood that in 2022 the vast majority of players no longer want to waste their time unnecessarily. Gone are the days when video games were still short and the choices more limited.
Now DBD asks for grind so I can have fun ? I prefer to take another game from the huge catalog available and play instantly without wasting time that is precious to me.
