Why is pipping/depipping still a thing? Why not use a e.g. level up system instead?
I can only speak for myself here, but - though playing against a swf or a camper/tunneler isn't fun at all too - one thing that really upsets me a lot is the fact you depip even when it is not your fault (also looking at all who love to give up and DC...) Like, the blood point grinding is hard and draining enough, but the fact you depip and (when you have a really bad day) cannot reach a new grade and maybe not even one pip (or you pip and depip the next game) is really irritating. Sometimes you can play for hours and you still have the same grade, meaning you actually lose blood points when the reset happens. Some people jalso just don't have the time to play so much to reach iri in both roles. And now that MMR is a thing we don't need the pipping/depipping anymore, do we?
How about a level up system instead? I don't have a thoroughly fleshed out idea, but... Like, with every game you gain EXP (as you already do for the shards) and depending on the level each season you get bloodpoints? Maybe depending on what you have done in the game you gain EXP? I mean, of course it still would suck to lose hard, but at least you wouldn't depip and still get a step closer to the new level? Another thought would be that you maybe even could choose when to reset our level and turn them into bloodpoints? The season reset would be not be needed anymore, but maybe it would also release the pressure of sweating to get the bloodpoints?
Just an idea.

Probably because when they made the MMR system it would have taken too much time and resources to completely rework the grade system so they just kept it in as a little side objective.
