Ah yes, the stuff people say every time there's a new horror asymm and then never works out.

Im just saying dbd Is getting Competition I hop this is there wake up call to Action.

DBD is big enough at this point that the only game that is going to kill DBD is DBD
Although at the rate BHVR is doing things (or not doing things), that's not nearly as impossible as it may have been in the past 😂
15 -
I guess your right I a way.
0 -
I both play killer and survivor in the same time.
0 -
those other games dont have licenses, which is 99% of the reason most play DBD, no other game lets you kill Cheryl Mason as Myers in Resident Evil 2s RPD
Evil Dead is a huge license
4 -
Evil Dead has nothing to do with Dbd.
5 -
I Agree very much if I’m honest with you I really only got in dbd because Steve was in dbd.
1 -
I get that but it is in the same genre multiplayer (4vs1) horror game
0 -
Almost everybody got in from a license. ST,RE,SH,NoES,Halloween, whatever, people saw characters they like in this game and came for them. i know i did. As soon as i got money i would buy a license

DBD is so far ahead with content that a competitor has to really deliver on DBD's weakest point, actual gameplay.
1 -
To early to say things kike that about a game that has been just released.
I've heard this so many time that this or that game will kill DBD, but eventually these games are gone and dbd is still here.
Not saying they need to step up their game cause the definitely do need to do it, but it is way to early to claim this about a new game

What I see. Apart of the problem why no game can compete with DbD is because every time a new game comes out that can compete to Dead by Daylight instead of getting to grow their own community; The Dead by Daylight community floods that game, and then starts a comparison war in that games community before ultimately returning to DbD. The fluctuation of numbers, and skewed feedback/statistics is a game developing nightmare for a new game, making then unable to compete to Dead by Daylight with either dying off or continuing with a miniscule cult following.
That's what appears about to happen to the Evil Dead game. Hopefully all of their extra PR, and marketing brings in more non-dbd players so the game can grow even after the DbD community makes it rounds. The only other game I seen doing well post 'Dead by Daylight community raid' is Identity V, but that maybe partial to the fact that BHVR had a helping hand in the original works of the game, gave the chance for the game to grow in Asian countries, and with taking a different balancing direction.
2 -
Also, Netease and BHVR have a partnership aswell as Netease developing their own mobile version of DBD for BHVR, so Identity V/Netease can't really be classified as a competitor anyway.
2 -
People also don't have to just play one game over the other. Might sound crazy but you can play DBD and it's competition games too.
5 -
BHVR will step up when there's actual competition, right now its just a new game with some promises and nothing else.
0 -
It's not... they've all come and gone, and BHVR has took no action to up their game when the competition came out, and they still came out on top
0 -
As long as DBD keeps putting out Dlc's and cosmetics they don't have to worry about their A game.
I believe The Texas chainsaw massacre is the game that's going to give them the competition that they need.

0% chance of this. Also *their

Evil Dead has little in common with DbD.
It's fun, for now, but it may become repetitive (yes, I know, as if DbD isn't)
And the game has a lot of bugs (I just had to exit a game I was winning because I got stuck into the decor ... again.)
edit: One thing that's very different is that it appears there is very little room for mind-games. DbD scratches my "chase" itch. This one is more akin to a DM itch.

DBD and Evil dead are completely different games. But Evil dead is a lot of fun....I really hope BHVR steps it up with dead by daylight. I truly do love the game :)

If Gun Media handles the TCM game the same way they handled Friday The 13th: The Game, then i severely doubt it.
0 -
Even if DbD isn´t much hiding anymore no other game i saw till now has anything comparable.

And YOU need to step up your spelling, sir.
0 -
I’m sorry For my spelling is one of my weak points.

one day, it probably will work out then BHVR will be like, "oops". Only reason they don't give a ######### is because there is no competition, but competition is inevitable. If BHVR won't listen, some dev eventually will

I just had a weird moment.
I've played three hours at ED, evil side only. I had a lot of fun.
When I got tired, I felt like throwing a few hatchets. I've started the game, was sent to Haddonfield by offering (which I don't mind) and it started exactly like most other matches. They pushed the gens with 3 survivors; two left and tried to kite me, then split. It was obvious they were doing gens in parallel so I would have to tunnel. I went back to the first gen to dislodge the survivor that kept behind and then I thought: why the heck I'm doing here? I know their perks. I know their tactic. I know how I will answer to it. There is no fun in this.
I've immediately shut the computer down and I've gone to bed. I don't think I'll play DbD killer for a while now.

Why do people always think that new asymmetrical games will not face the same challenges and problems which DBD already faces?
And well, after watching a bit of Evil Dead-Content (I did not play it myself), it does not really look like a game which will replace DBD. At least not a game I am interested in.
2 -
Because people want to see the game die
0 -
So is this the 5th or 6th Dbd Killer?
2 -
I think Evil Dead may have a really good chance of dethroning them. I've been watching some streams and it looks really fun. Plus the survivors can actually fight back against the killer.
0 -
1000% this
0 -
DBD has almost every single major horror license. Plus not being able to directly fight the killer is part of DBD's value for some of the playerbase. I think the Evil Dead game will be well-liked and popular, but its own group and not as a competitor.
3 -
I was actually looking forward to the Evil Dead. I haven't played DBD in several months and was very much looking for an Asymmetrical experience. Just found out it's an EGS exclusive though. So guess it's back to DBD for me.
1 -
I picked up Evil Dead earlier today (played 4 games total, 2 survivor and 2 Deadites)
Really the only similarity is that they're both Asymmetrical Horror Multiplayer games. They play very different from one another. Survivor in the game has a bunch of objectives they have to do and they fight back with weapons. Survivor is more Left 4 Dead than it is DBD.
Killer is VERY different from DBD. For one, you control what's more of a director than a direct combatant. If you are one of the five people who played Resident Evil Resistance, it's that, not DBD. You set traps, possess characters, and for the most part indirectly fight (you can take control of a Deadite but that's a small chunk of killer gameplay).
I suppose the only reason it might syphon players away is people only have so much time in the day to devote to gaming but the two games in terms of gameplay are not all that similar.
1 -
It will be interesting to see, but you have to remember that people are drawn to DBD because it a horror game that is fun. Yes, they're different horror games, but thats a big selling point to, switching to a different horror game. So I definitely see overlap, you have a bunch of horror fans craving a new horror franchise and getting tired of the frustration with DBD.
0 -
So it’s not the same then
1 -
Yeah, most likely.
It is just strange to think that other asymmetrical Horrorgames will not have balance issues or things like that.
0 -
no chance. Evil dead is hitting different genre of asymmetric games. Before DBD existed, one of the very first asymmetric well-known popular games was Valves Left 4 Dead 2. Evil dead is remastered version of Left 4 dead 2 VS mode. The survivor is doing pre-set arbitrary story mode and the killer is refer to as game-director.
I would say that those type of asymmetric games tend to not have ever-lasting multiplayer and they tend to be more popular in towards PVE aspect.

From what I saw of the Evil Dead, SWF looks like a whole lot of fun whilst playing demon looks meh. Demon gameplay looks mostly like a strategy game, whereas survivor you’re basically playing LFD. It’s an interesting combination but I don’t think it’ll be enough to take a noticeable amount of DBD’s player base.
Obviously it’s a new game so people haven’t figured out the mechanics properly yet. I’m sure once people are up to speed they’ll be some really interesting things done with the demon side of things. But most footage I saw yesterday from demon was players bombing around a very large map looking a bit lost and confused.

I don't think I'll enjoy the human side as much as the demon one.
I've already versed some teams with an interesting strategy. They split into two groups and the demon can only focus on one group while the other is busy fetching the map.
The humans are hard to kill so they almost certainly reach the "Elder" stage.
The first time I couldn't level up enough to be a threat. The second time I focused on raising level more than on killing one group (while sill hitting them when I could) and I ended up killing them all at the final showdown. It was a close call though.

I’m just glad Evil Dead: The Game is getting great reviews and I’m seeing a lot of DbD streamers enjoying it. Will DbD lose players to it? Who knows but Evil Dead is obviously a lot better than the other asymmetrical horror multiplayer games that recently came out like Home Sweet Home: Survive and Monstrum 2. Seems like a game that will be getting a lot of updates and is here to stay. I’m just hoping it gets released on Steam.

This. I watched a streamer play it yesterday and it's really its own game. It's not a copy of DBD at all. I think alot of people that enjoy DBD will also enjoy ED, but as a separate game and not as a replacement. After watching the stream it really doesn't appeal to me personally.
1 -
What do you mean by handle it?
GUN already said they learned their lessons from Friday the 13th and Texas chainsaw Massacre won't be the same.
