AFK crows near camping killer?
I just had a game where it was endgame, all gens were done and the killer was camping the hook..
camping may be a strong word as the killer doesn’t really have anywhere else to be at this point so I’m not blaming the killer for wanting to secure the kill…
anyway, I was trying to edge myself closer and closer to the hook without being seen in the hopes of getting a cheeky rescue but then I got an AFK crow which gave away my location
It just got me wondering, should AFK crows still trigger if you’re inside the killers terror radius?
the crows should appear if you’re doing nothing, not actively participating in the game. But just because you’re being stealthy, or trying to outfox a camper doesn’t mean you’re not doing anything

Yeah I think the crows spawn too quickly. I don't like them in general.

The afk crows shouldn’t appear in a 1v1 but that’s it imo

Afk crows are granted because : you stayed in one place too long.
They should not be made less strict. They should be changed so that if you are hiding from the killer and not doing anything then you can get an AFK crow.
That's pretty much the same idea as it is now but this would make it slightly more strict so that you have to "do stuff" or you get crows. Currently there is a bit of an exploit with avoiding crows in that you can just walk a circular path. Walk just the right size circle and you never get crows.

I don't get why they spawn in the endgame....
Like, there is a literal countdown forcing survivors to act, and if they don't they will just die.

Too quickly? What in the world? That is a VERY interesting opinion. Personally I feel the afk crows are more or less the worst afk system I have personally seen in any multi-player game. I rarely complain about much, but this is one of those common sense problems with the game if you ask me.

I've gotten crows from hiding from a killer in a locker in a normal chase. It's only like 30 seconds or something like that.

That is part of the reason it is so bad. It activates when it shouldn't and does absolutely nothing to stop them from taking the game hostage in a 2v1. Dreadful.

Here we go.... Killers defending the appearance of afk crows near the hook they are camping.

Yes, they should appear in the killer’s terror radius. You should not be hiding that long. The crows need to be improved anyways to work in more situations to prevent hostage situations where survivors hide and refuse to do gens but also move to prevent crows.

Gotta agree with that. If I'm hiding because the killer is scouring my area and I don't have an opportunity to sneak away, or because I step in a locker and somebody brings the killer to my tile and loops it for the next thirty seconds, it's not fair that my position will be outed by default. Meanwhile, I can spend the entire game doing nothing but swapping between two lockers and never get crows.
I wouldn't mind if crows were related to time spent not performing any game interactions - not in chase, no unhooks/heals/totems/gens/chests/gates. In turn, that timer would take longer to spawn birds than it currently does, but also demand more to remove the birds once spawned (you have to get into a chase or do sustained interactions.) Then have that timer pause as long as you're within, say, 20m of the killer, so it excludes active hiding, players who are trying to get the killer's attention, and players who are setting up for a save. Probably also pause when the gates are powered or when the hatch spawns.
It might need special interactions with perks that delay the game, like Grim Embrace/No Way Out/Blood Warden, and I can see potential issues with Devour Hope that could warrant the special treatment as well, but while the idea needs refinement, it could fix both crows outing you while you're hiding from a present killer and perma-hiding survivors that either stall out the game once they've lost or who never contribute at all in favor of Urban Evading around the corners of the map.
