SBMM is now working correctly for new players!
Not so long back, I installed DBD on PC after years of playing on Playstation. It was quite clear that if I was actually a new player, I would be getting a rough time.
Over the last couple of weeks I have been helping a brand new player and watching them play. Almost every game has been appropriately matched (killer and survivor). He hasn't won every game but they have all been potentially winnable apart from the times when he forgot to lobby dodge pre-made lobbies. He doesn't dodge SWFs or laundry though.
His MMR has crept up now so he is starting to see tougher games, effective flashlight and pallet saves and SWFs. He is facing killers that have decent perks, who understand their power and can mind-game effectively but it still feels like these are appropriate matchups.
It is highly encouraging to see that the MMR system is going in the right direction. I'm glad the devs have addressed that they want to fix the pre-made lobby issues as newer players won't understand that those can be teams from pretty much any MMR.

If that's true, that's a huge step forward (or backward, since with grades when I started DBD in 2020-21 I was matched appropriately with other new players). Now if only they got it to work mid-high level...

The old system had the problem that as soon as your killer hit green rank, you regularly faced red rank survivors. That never seemed fair to new players because you could get to green rank quite easily. I used to encounter a lot of AFK Wraiths back in those days, trying to drop a color rank or two.
Still get them occasionally now. Which makes little sense.

I have noticed it too, I am an experienced player and well I just have been able to play DBD on the comp, right from the start and so I can see the difference to my first time playing to now playing this as a new beginner since the changes. Is happy that things have changed and for the right reasons and that is has worked, also I wish this got my people commenting, seems negative posts get more people replying then the positive ones.

I wish I had this experience.
Under the old system I could hover in the green/purp and generally have good games. Sometime mismatched up or down but mostly comfortable fun.
Now its 10x super strong survivor team losses typically highly obnoxious play and generally unenjoyable followed by 3x down everyone at 5 gens still up and stand there wondering if I should let them get up or just end it there.
Can't recall the last 'balanced' feeling match I had where I could play my usual half arsed self and not either end up having to sweat through my shirt to get 1 kill or wreck face in 2mins.
Survivor definitely feels more consistent but my killer games are all over the shop and mostly unfun as a result.

For me its the survivor games that are the roughest. I probably keep a 2 kill average as killer (usually in a pattern of 4 kills then zero hooks though) so my MMR is probably about right. Survivor though, the killer usually 4Ks my survivor games when I play solo. My MMR must be in negative numbers by now.

It tends to do an ...alright/10 job until either lobby dodge backfills or queue times that reach the "screw it, find this player ANY match as that's better than no match" point get involved. Then things get Wacky real fast. But that's great news to hear that's his experience though!

I also noticed not a lot of Killer META perks are used at the level I am on the pc, though I feel I need to go back to the basics as a survivor, it's actually quite interesting to be a part of, sort of an experiment.
