Same charms over and over again
Hello there, why are there the same charms on the hook, over and over again in every match despite it being different killers every match with different console, epic or steam profiles?
There are hundreds of charms so how can it be excactly the same charms every match?
What is the statistical chance of that occuring naturally?
I'd say 0.
Here are the charms I see every match.
Did you see these charms? What is going on?

You're right, I do see a surprising amount of people using the Auric Cell charm tbh. I'm not proud of spending money on in-game currency usually.
I only use the pride flag on survivors because all the others look odd just hanging from the belt. But for killers I use a wide variety of charms that match their lore, not just the shiny ones.

Same charms again, different killer.

What charms do you usually see with the auric cell charm?

When a substantial amount of charms is just 4 colour variations of the same wood carving, an actual auric cell is far cooler to see.
Gamers like glowing things.

Here's the order I see them from most to least.
- Pride charm
- Auric Cell charm (it's bright and glows, and not time-limited. You just have to buy some from the store at least once)
- any Tier 70 Rift charm (usually the more recent ones, but the Blood Moon and the Nectar Vial are popular ones. Generally, anything that glows or moves)
- DLC-related charm like the Puzzlebox from Pinhead or Silent Hill charm
- the chibi 3d-figures of killers & survivors
- Event related charms, like winter holiday or new year's
- everything else
90% of the time, it's the first three. Nobody really cares about charms, me included (except the pride flag). I think BHVR should either tone it down in the Rifts, or overhaul how they're displayed to other people. I have 16 pages of charms rn.

I once saw the Auric Cell charm used by so many survs and killers in a row that I could have sworn there was some weird glitch forcing people to use it

I say it's bots.

I never see that charm on the hook, nor any of the other hundreds of charms that exist.
Only a variation of 3-5 same over and over again.

It could be a bug? I remember there was a bug once where survivors were all showing in the lobby in default outfits for a time. Otherwise just coincidence.
I'm not fussed on charms, I pretty much just use the Pocket Entity one. Reminds me of tamagotchis

Not a bug. People just use the charms that are most visible.

don't know I put the charm I had at the time I customized it and never changed it since I don't care what my hook looks like

I usually try to theme my charms I'm wearing to whatever character I'm playing. Though for killers I sometimes get lazy looking through the list because queue times are short when I play. My best guess is that people like the glowy ones and that's why you see them a bunch, also if they're free and easy to get (holiday event charms). I love when survivors have the auric cell charm because I can see them from a mile away.

Killers put the auric cell and other glowing charms to counter Boil Over bros.
I didnt even put charms on until I realized you could combat boil over using them.

You forgot the Viper RTS charm that you have to use the "secret" code to get

It requires one of the Silent Hill characters to unlock, but it wasn't initially what I meant. I'll add it to the list because it does see a more use.

I mostly use tier 70 or tome level 4 charms. Sometimes I use exclusive ones like the fruitcake, pot o gold, and the one temporarily bugged on epic.. but around 70% of the charms in DBD are garbage

I always use charms that is related to the character's lore, power, weapon and a figurine of the character itself. If the character ain't no character specific charms then i just throw something random on them every match to get something different to look at everytime.

I use the Auric Cell charm because it makes the hook much, much more visible. A lot of times, when the hooks are theoretically within direct line of site, they blend into the environment. I've lost survivors off my shoulder because I had no idea there was a hook a few feet away. The environments lack contrast and are too dark. The Auric Cell charm helps a lot.
I used to use charms that went with the killers, but these days I'm more likely to use charms that increase hook visibility. If it bugs any of you guys, tell BHVR to show hook auras at all times, even when within direct line of sight. Otherwise, enjoy the infinite same-ness caused by poor UX.
