Dredge makes my eyes hurt
The 'total darkness' was meant to make the game scary and obscure Survivor vision.
Yeah, it is hard to see things, and it is also extremely irritating.
I struggle to see things to the degree that the blackness makes my eyes hurt and quickly tired. I cannot enjoy the game's atmosphere when almost everything I see is just blank black which make me experience physical discomfort.

Not a "killer" problem

I don't know what to much say.
Maybe they could add some accessibility options to help make the darkness with different color paint or something.
The thing is you can't just nerf him and make it easy for everyone to see and then it ends up being like PTB version which sucked hard.

Straining your eyes in zero visibility doesn't stop it from being zero visibility.

On Pc a lot of people use some filters to abuse the system and see more

You clearly dont know what epilepsy means.

Agreed the visual effect is taxing but the audio of the screaming souls during Nightfall is off putting and disturbing imo
It would be nice if you could toggle the effect/ audio but I guess it's matter of getting used to it 🤷♂️

New image that scares people, nightfall lol.
In seriousness though maybe check your console and tv settings or the room you're playing in, all these can have a massive effect on how much your eyes strain.
I suffer with my eyes and them being really sensitive, so much so I cant have a normal house light on and be in the room for ages but i dont think the actual nightfall is your issue

So i must play Dredge in order to strain someone's eyes?

That map's lighting is quite neutral.
Map like Autoheaven, where the contrast is really high, if you running facing a certain direction, you see nothing.

I know some maps are different, I was just meant as a meme (for example in halo pro players wanted a weapon nerfed so people just share pictures of the weapon lol)
But as someone who has difficulty with their eyes with sensitivity and straining I haven't actually had a issue with it which is why I suggest to the OP to check settings and the environment they're in as they all have a huge impact especially if they're someone like me

I also hate darkness in my horror games

Trust me, it isn't a photosensitivity problem, because I've gone to the optician very recently and I've been confirmed that I'm not epileptic/photosensitive and yet it still gives me a major headache.

I agree with OP, I don't like how my eyes feel during NF. On paper NF sounds cool, but the actual implementation is terrible. I have an OLED with true blacks and that could be part of it. During NF everything looks terrible. I don't want to see him gutted, but at this point I'm considering suiciding against him.
