In regards to earning masks during the event
Will I be able to farm as killer to earn the masks and help the survivors earn them?
I figured it would be like the last event with the snowmen, where as long as you get hit in the snowman or hit a survivor inside it, you'll randomly get a cosmetic for a killer or survivor once the game is over. But instead of snowmen you collect an invitation? I think they mentioned something, but I don't remember.
I mainly ask because playing survivor during events where you need to collect stuff and escape is like hell. All the camping and tunneling killers come out to play and I'd rather play as killer to collect them if possible.

Survivors need to escape after collecting an invitation, killers simply need to end the trial. There's also universal unlocks; you can play exclusively killer and get all masks and charms, even survivor ones.

I think it will be like a glyph you have to do somewhere to get the mask. Like last halloween event?
Also killer may be a good choice but I expect the queue times skyrocket for the same reason

I really wish they would stop forcing survivors to escape in order to collect stuff.

I think they're trying to make the killer role more lucrative with this, as its "easier" to get the reward when playing killer than survivor.

Even more lucrative? They already get way more BPs. And if it is like past events, they will also get way more Event Cakes in their Bloodwebs.

It's because when they don't have that, survivors run and grab the reward then immediately run to the killer to suicide and move on to the next match.

AFKing doesn't really get you into another match to ruin faster. If you get the reward for ending the trial you may as well play.

But it's not required. With how killers play, they can completely stop a survivor from getting the reward. You see they have it? Welp, time to get camped and tunneled. Good luck getting it next game ig. It's like we know killers can be scummy, but it's especially highlighted during events like these.
It's why the Snowman event will forever be superior. Killer gets the rewards by hitting the survivors in the snowmen, and the survivors get rewarded by getting hit in one. Of course there were some killers that would drag the games on AGES because they refused to hit survivors inside snowmen...but still, at least then it wasn't possible to completely refuse the survivor the reward.
There should be alternate ways for survivors to keep the rewards. Like getting the envelope and then completing a gen or healing someone. At least.

Why not make it like the last events, like how the snowmen worked. No matter if you escape or not, you get the item. This is just stupid that you NEED to escape as survivor.

The reason why survivors have to escape is that games aren't just ruined by survivors speedrunning rewards. Killers can't really speedrun rewards, because they are forced to wait for survivors complete gens and escape which is still favorable for you if you are also going for rewards.
And the snowmen event wasn't really much better because there were killer powers that could break the snowmen without granting the reward and there were killers doing that. But they are minority compared to killers who actually play out games and not intentionally prevent survivors from getting their rewards.
The event last for a couple of weeks. You have plenty of time to escape to earn the rewards.
