Game super unfun. (Killer side)
Greetings
I used to play this game a lot mainly killers because i didn't like survivors much, was never really fun the way how it is done in this game compared to other horror survivor games. Personally find survivors super boring with barely any objective making them very unappealing to play as.
What really got on my nerves, how fast the game goes nowadays, racing against the clock in a short period of time all the time with high pressure without leaving any room for immersion of you being the big baddy going after poor souls trying to get out. Now it is just rush rush, pressing that one shiney button on gens 5 times and troll the killer vaulting like a monke between pallets and windows.
It is always been like this indeed but changing/removing the ruin totem denying to stall the game for killer was a bad move, in fact this should be in the game as feature to make the game last longer for the killer to catch a break in between chases, giving more chance for less efficient killers too to shiney a bit, especially for killers like Myers boy who needs a lot of time in order to be efficient.
I find this pressure gameplay fustrating, unfun and a waste of time to be honest, i don't say it because i am bad but i just cannot be arsed at this point to make any improvement when by the time i actually get to someone the game half way done and there is seven more catches to close the game out unless the survivors willing come to me to get spanked or pity me to get points and sacrifice them out of a kindness as odd as it sounds, frankly this is sad.
Thought the point was for survivors to make the game hard for them to get out, not to toy with the killer for medals until the rest of the garden gnomes hidding in the grass doing gens finishing the game. Used to enjoy this game a lot but clearly this isn't gonna get anytime better, superboring.
I would ask for a refund but the purchases were made years ago if i knew this game goes down this direction.
(but at least mirror Myers still enjoyable to some degree which exactly how i would imagine the game, actually making people terrified than getting treated like a laughing stock trying to get to people in vain.)

Personally didn't want to bring up examples of games with elements i personally found great because this is about Dead by Daylight. I guess it was more like a rant out of frustration because i loved the game but seeing how it turns into something very else you were accustomed to is heartbreaking.
Do i want to adopt to this fast paced game? No. Why? Because horror games not about speed running and poking fun at the big baddies trying to get to your neck.
If anything i would make survivors only last one hook to make them more frightening to play and add elements to also help them due to their "nerfed" health state, but i am no dev but a player wish to enjoy this game.

I quit ages ago because as a professional I already work and get paid. Playing killer is NOT fun anymore. My brother keeps telling me to come back and I told him the moment he actually enjoys a game as killer (without it being a chore to do the rift or get BP) I will come back.
He hasn’t yet had one fun game.
Killer is in a really bad place in my honest opinion, and it has been this way for a while. Look at your streamers- even most of them camp or tunnel now.

Slightly bold to assume survivor sides having fun

Exactly why this is bad to play the game if you only enjoy killers, not necessarily have to score 4 kills all the time but honestly i barely get one or two or in most cases none at all because of buddies on voice most likely making it aboslutely a joy to play as killer to face pre made groups with coms when the game doesn't even have a in voice.
Sometime i cannot resist to check back on this game see if it is actually changed to somewhat acceptable to play killer in a relax fun manner without getting all worked up over losing too much time over one survivor.

Since i don't find any fun playing as one, i have none indeed.

I assume you have never tried SoloQ survivor at low ranks. That's the most painful adventure ever.
In this case killers can play chill and get quite easily a win, otherwise against SWF you have to play merciless as someone above me has already said.
Both cases are awful, fun is kept to a minimum

It is a mind game. How you choose to perceive "fun" is the crux of the situation. I find chasing, downing, and hooking survivors fun. If they power the generators and escape it does not matter because I did my best and earned good BP.
If you perceive the game as a hide and seek simulator instead of a murder simulator it will have less of an effect on your mental health.
Do your best win or lose, and try to learn from your mistakes.

I did play low rank surv games myself, while it can be somewhat difficult to get through, at least it was a far more closer experience to actually fear the killer as your numbers getting lower n lower until you just by yourself facing against the baddie.
Whenever i play with friends just because of the sake of playing with friends, it is a very empty feel for me especially when they go out of their way to cheese the killer. Reason i dislike surv games and the bland gameplay it comes with.

Instead of making up alternate imaginary rules to make the game fun, I think I’ll just not play it. Also I do not miss the lack of sportsmanship many survivors display, so that’s also a bonus.

You can mind game as much as you like, 5-8 minute of game for me is just too short to enjoy. I had one game stalling survis out for 25 minutes with mirror myers, making them absolutely terrified to get near gens and grouping against me just to cover all corners, that was actually very good on their end and worked out in their favor.
They worked together in a sense of prevent danger and not rush. Now? Laugh at me please, not gonna get to you anyway in time before at least 2 gens light up.

And yet another one. For some reason people get false notion that if "play killer", then it's has to be slaughter without any chance to lose, because other side cannot fight back. Some statements, my gosh! "Horror game"... All horror evaporates after first few matches (even scary movie or book stop being scary on second try). And only multiplayer game is left.
Unwanted "pressure". If one side don't do pressure, the other does.
"Make the game hard for survivors", what? One team make hard for another and vice versa.
How entitled must be to think that other 4 players came here only to suffer, not to win, for your sole amusement.
There are lots of singleplayer games where you can tune difficulty down, if you don't like competition, well, it's your choice and your free time. No one is against it.

Glad you read my comments, your first setence clearly state that, but to help you on this one to better clarify my issue, let me do so.
Starting by No. i don't have to slaughter everyone to have my fun, that would be also boring after some time to get flawless games.
Survivors allowed to make dozens more mistakes than killers can afford, no work around it.
Just because the game could be harder for survivors to get out, doesn't mean it reduces the fun value of the game, in fact i believe many would enjoy it more to have an actual horror rather than a troll game to poke at killers for fun before you run out of the exit game tea bagging.
Lmao, whats up with the singleplayer suggestion? It is not like you can find many games with the promise of playing as Myers or other killers to hunt bots... No joy in that because they are not players to witness their reaction. (Mirror Myers jumpscares from doorways are priceless)

The Killer-side of this game is always going to be stressful. If you view this as unfun, then you shouldn't play killer.
0 -
Saying that, i shouldn't play game at all, thus my last setence with the refund.
In the past with ruin to buy time, killers was fun, because i actually had time to enjoy the killer rather than sweating my butt off.

sad part in solo q's you have to deal with random peoples mistakes.
0 -
It sounds like you want survivors to be easy to kill, but because this is a competative game, survivors need to have an equal likely hood of winning as killers.
Right now, killers have around a 55+% chance of winning. So you are playing a side that is more likely to win as it is. What more do you want?
How would you fairly fix the game so that both sides have equal chances of winning and still make killer fun?
0 -
That is pure DBD. The original concept. The randomness of the tiles, people, perks, and addons make for endless combos.
Even if you are losing as a survivor you can save and heal and do totems before dying horribly.
0 -
Survivors can live three times before they actually go down, that matter in a 5-8 minutes game is too much.
Also what is considered winning on a killer side? I am not after that, i am not after "winning" but to immersive myself as a killer to be terrified, to be the powerhouse they afraid of. Survivors do not fear, they mock me. They taunt me to chase them knowing they can cheese me as much as they like because they learned how to do so against lower tier LMB killers.
This is an insult to be honest and ruins everything i feel as a killer on the stage to terrify my victims which the game is about to be the boogeyman not a freaking clown... (No offense Clown, you are a good guy.)
The game doesn't have to be equal, the game has to be GOOD. To be enjoyable, high risk, high reward on survis end but this doesn't mean the killer doesn't have to struggle to get their victims but LET ME TAKE MY DAMN TIME TO ABLE TO ACHIEVE SOMETHING damn it.

Noooo didn't you hear Patrick in the Q&A if you don't get out you lose.
0 -
No, you just face easier opponents next time. Win with BP and Win with maybe an easier match in the future.
0 -
BP means nothing to me I have everyone maxed out and you don't just auto face easier opponents especially in solo q. This game depends heavily on team work and without communication its a hard task. I play to have a higher MMR not to get blood points and earn things i already have everything.
0 -
I would not play this game if I was not progressing somehow. You have to admit BP and progression is everything to most players.
If you have maxed out everything you may be burned out on this game in general.
0 -
So you think 4/5s of the player base should be just hook ornaments for killers and you don't think that would run 4/5s of the player base off of the game.
My suggest that would address Killer being stressful and not feeling like the power role is the make a bot mode. That way you can play killer, not be stress and have fun hooking bots.
You don't want a competitive game, which is fine.
0 -
Progression may fill a hole just to make people keep doing the same old until they burn out indeed, but that doesn't have to be a driving motive alone or the game loses its magic with the focus of grinding endlessly, whats there is once you are done with everything? Quit? Taking break until new stuff?
Each to their own regarding fun factor.
0 -
Bold how you assume all that because the game completely lost its horror theme with the competation you howling around, why should i compete with survivors? My job to get them six feet under, their job to get out, but no exaclty the way i see it when i played my last few games.
My source of frustration is the very strict timer i running on before i can achieve anything major to get to them by the balls and have the upperhand, by that time the game half way done usually with the remaining 3/5 gens. So what i need to do ensure they won't achieve their goal and at the same time having a good time playing as the powerrole to express its danger? Most of my survivors don't even see me once before they see me approach the exit gate.

That's my point the only thing to progress now is mmr so that's what people like me are working on progressing. Which in turn is why people complain about the state of the game.

Survivor is just is stressful go run some solo q's

DbD is an exercise in frustration. After a while you're just frustrated all the time, you notice all the flaws and you just can't forgive them anymore. It's sad because they could imrpove but haven't in years. And every year it's the same lame story where they promise huge changes and nothing gets better. Quite the opposite, they make changes nobody asked for and changes nobody wants.
1 -
Well said, if not better.
I still living in the past regarding DbD when i used to have the fun and i am unable to bring myself into this game anymore because how vastly diffirent it is than what it used to be.
The whole game needs a complete redone and build on that rather than be "competative" be survival, hell i would even start to playing survivor just for the fear factor alone to be risk dying, i really don't like how the survs play right now at all, too many chances, too many escapes, if it is not boring, then tedious or flat out annoying to play against "pressure" killers or should i say competative killers hmm?
Joke.

I don't know if this seriosly should be answered but I'll try (just for the purpose I'm on this forum)
"Survivors allowed to make mistakes dozens more" that is so wrong like flat Earth. Killer allowed to make mistakes as much as survivor, it's just who will capitalize mistakes. Basic competitive action.
"Just because the game could be harder for survivor...." this paragraph I don't know if could be taken seriously, it's like "you gonna die and lose anyway, but you should be grateful". I don't really know is it trolling or just childish.
About "singlplayer"... Multiplayer game have a character you like, but don't like a competition, therefore devs and players have to submit to meet your requirements....
Now I don't really know why I'm answering that, but I'm learning english, so I at least some practice to me.

You don't have to brainstorm over this pal, not even sure why you replied in the first placed if you don't see my reasoning because you just don't get me or want to understand my points, thus considered it "trolling" and move on.
So probably not gonna go in deeper details to clarify everything you, basically spoonfeed you.

For a horror aspect, dead by daylight is actually not the game to go for, sorry if that was the reason for initial purchase.
On paper and (usually) in practice it's still fun. Both sides.
I hope they are really gonna shake things up with the changes to meta perks. Make the games a bit slower, and more about hiding and running the killer well.
1 -
Its kinda the natural progression of the game.
Players learn to leverage mechanics to maximum effect. Opponents then adjust playstyles to leverage their own mechanics to maximum effect and it escalates back and forth.
Play stagnates a lil and hopefully devs change stuff to switch things up.
There will always be a competitive crowd its just sadly MMR feeds the competitive crowd more so than the casual crowd.
Rather than contribution being a factor that dictates match making, winning/losing (escapes/kills) now dictates match making, which lends itself to a more competitive playerbase.
So is DBD fun when its highly competitive?... not so much because a lot of what makes it competitive is pretty zero sum for your opponent. Survivors smash out gens in record time vs killers eliminating players as early as possible.
Add to this a mindset that competitive play by your opponent is somehow a purposeful attack on your fun, because while you are allowed to play to win, nobody else is, (A very common mindset to see in the DBD playerbase) and you have a great recipe for angry players throwing tantrums at each other over gameplay.
Yeah DBD is a fun game but it generally gets less fun as you increase in competitiveness. That means its often less fun at higher MMR, which inevitably you'll end up in if you do even remotely well.
