Did Kadokawa insist on "RINGU" for licensing?
With all the 6th Anniversary dev messages, it always stands out to me when I see the title "Ringu". Its strange to me because the name of the novel/film is リング : Ring. I know Arrow Video put out a boxset of "Ringu" but even the staff note this is not a real word:
And indeed, in other regions, it's just "Ring".
It just sticks out to me, its kind of like someone going
-Hey I read this manga about a guy who gets something called a "Death Note" and whoever's name he writes in the book that person dies.
-Oh cool, what's the name of the manga?
-Desu Noto!

AFAIK it's because the romanji of リング is "Ringu" meaning that's how it's spelt in the original Japanese way using Roman characters. Wikipedia notes the original Film and novel as being called "Ring (リング, Ringu)" which ig supports this.
