Hello to the DBD community. I am aspiring to become a game tester, any game testers here who are open to share some of your experience to an upcoming fresh tester on the following is much appreciated:

  1. Tips to get hired
  2. Softwares you used during your testing career
  3. Overall your experience as a QA tester/ QA Lead/ QA Manager

In addition, will a Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) from International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) help for getting hired as a game tester?

Game tester related softwares I use - Jira, Trello & Confluence

Softwares I am current learning - Testrail

I can’t really give any tips as I never worked in the gaming industry QA.

but the ISTQB certificates should definitely help and i would recommend to get that! Experience with Jira and Trello also are positives!

i guess experience with a 3D gaming engine like Unreal wouldn’t hurt either (well, obviously depends on if the game is a 3D game…).

Thank you Mooks! There is a game tester certification under ISTQB as well however it is currently still in beta. Can't wait to learn that course when it comes out :)
