If everyone are against safe pallets then are they also against unsafe ones too?

There have been many suggestions about balancing maps to be more fair and I agree (even I agree some maps can get really ridiculous) I see many say get rid of safe pallets but are people also in favor of removing really pointless and unsafe pallets? I don't think they are too useful and most of the time I'm feel I'm better off just not throwing them.

What do you think?

Who's "killers"? You think there's like a discord where everybody that plays killer gets together and comes to a consensus? Do you think they all have brain slugs that connect them as a single consciousness?

Honestly, if you don't play killer you're only playing half the game which is just dumb as hell. Play the entirety of the game you presumably paid for and enjoy.

Your very right it was wrong of me to say killers and not everyone. I will change that

I don't think it's unfair to ask for considerably more pallets to be ambiguous, instead of the polarizing 'dropping this is worthless' or 'Lol RPD pallet hallway gluck ever catching me'

There should only be ever two god pallets, and that is the pair of clocktower pallets on midwich

As others of said, definitely in favor of getting rid of most god pallets and replacing them with pallets that actually have a mind game. Those “you must break or you can’t get around/catch up” pallets need to go. If this is supposed to be a skill based game, there should only be a limited number of no skill required resources.

Only if you drop them to lock the Killer between the two. Only Killers who can TP won't have to break them to free them, but I think only Nurse is not concerned—Onryō and Dredge still need to find the right TV/locker to TP out of the place.

What are the odds of the killer standing in between the two and how does the killer even get in that situation?

But playing killer is really boring all you have to do is camp and you get to ruin someone's day that's way to easy than having to run a killer for 5 gens to ruin their day.

It's a tough thing. A pallet is pretty much safe until it's not, and then it's a guaranteed hit vs a good killer. There's not a whole lot of in-between to work with. I think they should pay closer attention to how tiles are oriented and how they combine together, because that's when things really start to break down.

I don't have screenshots handy, but there are instances where tiles spawn in such a way that they create mega tiles if the survivor knows what they're doing. Wreckers Yard for example can spawn a pretty strong pallet next to shack window and another pallet on the opposite side of shack. You end up in a situation with many killers where the survivor is able to play window no matter which way you rotate them, and they can play the opposite side pallet no matter which way you play the shack window. And the survivor can probably make it to bus/crane/jungle gym too if they really wanted to from there. And all the devs would have to do is rotate shack 90 degrees to prevent that situation. It can't spawn in that orientation in high level play.

Jungle gyms and L/T walls do the same thing at times. The filler pallets face the windows of the adjacent tiles and you have 1.5 jungle gyms to work with. Again, one of them needs to rotate 90 degrees so you don't get a free fast vault at the window just from running the adjacent pallet naturally from any direction. It's not a high percentage of survivors who know to path that way, but it's devastating when they do.

I think most "unsafe" pallets are more safe than most people give them credit for. Try chasing at one of those basic junk pile loops on Macmillan or Autohaven as an M1 killer, and watch how often you have to get to Bloodlust 2 or 3 to catch the survivor if you don't break the pallet. That way there's no room for misinterpretation or exaggeration.

Honestly dbd spawn rng completely destroys matches and certain matchups and certain maps are really bad offenders of this

Father Campbells chapel can spawn shack window into long wall window, I know this because its happened to me twice

Mothers dwelling has 2 tiles by the smokehouse with them all diagnol to each other with a random pallet loop that can spawn in between, thanks to this I had a long wall facing a long wall with smokehouse on the side

(artist rendition because I didn't screenshot it)

And of course before it was changed I had eyrie of crows with a long wall into a main building window

I get the game wants procedural generation but with the amount of stuff that can be chained together by rng there needs to be some static parts on maps to prevent extremely op loops which is the main reason we have anti loop killers in the first place

the term safe pallet and unsafe pallet is hard to define because safe pallet are just pallets that the killer cannot get hits on if the survivor utilizes the pallet correctly thus forcing killer to break the pallet where as unsafe pallet are pallets that killer can get hits on WITHOUT breaking the pallet.

these terms do not define how unsafe or how safe the pallet is. its just blanket term to a property of the pallet.

For example, in red forest, The temple of purgation bottom cellar has unsafe pallet near gen. This pallet is so unsafe to the point that it might as well not even exist. Likewise, the pallet outside badham school car is also an unsafe pallet but its not as unsafe as temple pallet.

One of the pallets in midwich spawns near staircase and this pallet is safe pallet. Shack pallet and all jungle gym pallets are safe pallets. The cow loop on farm maps are also safe pallets.

I'd say no killer really complains about unsafe pallets because they are not a problem for the killer player where as safe pallets are all equally as problematic as one another.

I'd say since rework on the maps, the tiles are less likely to be connected compare to before. they still occur every now and again. Like for example. I was playing wrecker yard and I got long-wall jungle gym into those truck loops. so with single window. i had basically 2 jungle gym pallets from a single window. its more that most survivor aren't that good at looping to capitalize off such rng.

I'd say map that has most problematic case of linking tiles is suffocation pit. Its very likely that you can link T-L into T-L wall in middle part of the map, so most of the time, you can loop killer until bloodlust 3 than just go to one of those jungle gym or long-wall tiles with safe pallet and break their bloodlust.

in term of loop design and map design, most of the maps are not powerful because of rng-linked tilesets, they're usually powerful because of imbalanced buildings like... Garden of joy main building and series of isolated safe pallets that can be dropped for what could be 5 gen chase.

Unsafe pallets need to go, if safe pallets have to go. God pallets shouldn’t be a thing, though.

Yeah, there are safe(ish) pallets, and then there absurd pallets where I will immediately drop chase rather than waste my time. That shouldn't be a thing.

Im not sure where the term God pallet came from, but pallets that essentially force the killer to break and extend chase are typically considered incredibly useful.

That Midwich pallet that blocks the hallway and the pallet near the monitors on The Game make survivors untouchable. Killer shack pallet is also great.

I think powerful pallets can exist in dbd, just only by a very limited amount. Think of it like Pamela's Sweater from F13. You only have on chance to take advantage of it.

I mean if that's the trade deal I'll take it.

There are so few of those useless pallets that it's hardly worth mentioning. Pallets are so numerous we could also just delete those pallets, is that better than having an unsafe pallet? I'd say no. I've been able to play some of those unsafe pallets pretty well before where I could get the stun and enable me to make it to another loop.

Yea like the ones that cut the killer off in the middle of a hallway and they can’t go around, (Lery’s) should be gone. Don’t get me wrong- I appreciate them when I’m playing survivor (lol), but at the end of the day I know that’s busted and not fair.

Instead of unsafe or safe Pallets, I like to use the words "fair" and "unfair": A fair Pallet is a Pallet which can be played by both sides, with the better player coming out on top - if it is the Killer, they get a Hit. If it is the Survivor, they are rewarded with distance to get to the next Pallet.

This does not apply to Pallets like Shack or Jungle Gyms. This also does not apply to Joke-Pallets like the downstairs one next to the Basement on Plagues Map, you can be the best Survivor in the world and will get hit, no matter what. Talking about something like Badham-Pallets (like the car pallets near the School).

So, yeah, I would hope that at one point, Maps have a shitload of fair Pallets, a very huge amount. And very, very few safe Pallets (like 2-3 per Map).

This would also help with overall gameplay experience - a Killer would not need to break every Pallet they come across, they can actually try to outplay the Survivor. And the Survivors are not ######### over by a teammate who cannot Loop and predrops every safe Pallet.

However, for this, Bloodlust would need to go. Because otherwise the Killer would be given a Hit after 15 seconds on every of those Pallets.

Any pallet inside a long loop is safe, and should go. Likewise, any pallet that is extremely unsafe and pointless should also go.

There needs to be more 50/50 pallets where the player with more skill comes out on top.

Totally useless pallets should be dumpstered too I think yeah. Pallets like the one in the basement of temple of purgation that will not save you unless the killer is stupid (not the god pallet that you earn by completing the gen down there, that is 1 god pallet that I actually think is fine because you have to complete the gen to get it, wish that was a mechanic the devs played with a bit more)
