The New Changes
This is gonna just be a general overview of my thoughts and feedback on the new changes.
The prestige system, like the idea, and does reduce the grind for existing players. However new players are still going to have a massive grind of 5-6 million bp per character to get all perks to tier 3 on all characters. And with the new changes to BBQ and WGLF, that's gonna be even more difficult. But let's just say they play enough to get to iri 1 on both survivor and killer. That's 2 million bp. Let's say they actually manage to get the other 4 million from just playing. That's 1 entire month to get one character to P3. That's 28 months just to get all perks on all killers to tier 3. That's over two years, and doesn't include the new killers added in that time or survivors. That's insanely daunting to new players. This doesn't affect me, but for game longevity and new player retention, maybe providing new player bonuses? Idk food for thought.
I also would've like to know what the conversion rate would look like. Like if I have a level 50 Jane, how many perks would I need to tier 3 for it to convert to prestige 3 or 2 when the changes go live? With only a few weeks before it goes live, I'd like some insight on who I might want to be focusing my time on ya know? Most information we were given in the patch notes was information we were already given previously. So just a bit more detail on that.
Other than that, love the prestige mechanic. Love that it shows my prestige level. I've seen a lot of people complaining about it, saying that it could be confuse people or be used to complain that you're being matched with a higher prestige level. But I can invest bp and prestige a character without ever playing them. The only people that could misinterpret and spread that misinformation, is us the players and community. So maybe we don't?
The gameplay and perk changes however, aren't really how I thought they'd go. I don't want to assume, because I'd definitely have to test the changes before saying if they're really good are bad. Because there's buffs and nerfs in different areas.
I will say however that it doesn't seem like a different meta, more of just shifted it to other perks. I can see the new survivor meta being just stacking endurance perks for different points throughout the match, and then slapping on an exhaustion perk to have multiple second chances throughout the match. Off the record just straight up replaced BT and DS. 80 seconds of invincibility that can be used twice like old DS, and you can still slap on DS for even more safety. Healing will still be strong as all heck. So not to much different from now, just the power has been moved to different perks.
Killer's pretty much the same. Heavy focus on gen slowdown. But I see it being moved away from regression and more just slowing survivor action speed and gen blockage. So you'll probably start seeing more thana, gift of pain, deadlock, maybe more pentimento. Like I stated, pretty much the same just the power has been switched to other perks.
One of my main concerns, is the focus on committing to chases as killer. You can see it with all of the base changes they made. I understand the point behind it, make it more lucrative to actually chase people and put pressure on multiple survivors to reduce the killer's feeling of needing to camp (which is great.) I don't like camping and don't like feeling as if it's something that's needed. However, with healing still being strong and map RNG being what we all know it is, that 10% doesn't always make a difference. It also hurts the hit and run style just a bit more. I can't really say it's going to be a problem because I haven't played these changes yet, so only time will tell if the buffs to killer are enough to offset the strength of strong tiles and fast heals.
The last thing, is the camping situation. I see a lot of people complaining saying that they buffed camping... The didn't. They not only gave you base bt, which you asked for, but also gave you free guardian. That 5 free seconds, doubled if you use bt, of endurance and haste, definitely offsets if not outweighs the .3 seconds of successful hit recovery. Like wut? You're comparing not even a full stack of save the best for last to two free perks? Lol The greed man 😂
Setting that aside though for a moment. Most killers don't tunnel or camp, or they don't want to but felt like it was a necessity. With changes that make it worth more to actually chase and split pressure, you'll already see camping and tunneling drop a lot. I'm not chasing a dude that has over a minute of endurance, it's a waste of time. With that said though, will these changes kill of tunneling and camping? No. Because the ones who want to only tunnel and camp and ruin somebody's day will always exist and always find a way to do just that. Just like the ones who always want to just body block and spam click flashlights and teabag at the exit Gates will always find a way to do it.
They tried before to remove camping completely by pausing the hook timer (the most common suggestion). It was abused by survivors so much that they had to remove it from the game very quickly. The simple fact is that those who want to do it, will find a way regardless of the changes made.
Is the base 5 seconds of BT enough? Is 90 seconds on generators too much? Idk maybe. Won't know until they actually go live. But if so, it's always stuff they can still change later. So I'm gonna give behavior the chance to actually display the changes, prior to me completely speculating based on numbers.
I do however feel it's definitely a step in the right direction, and I'm excited.

I like the 5 second bt. Yes I main killer, and I can see how that might not be enough, but it won’t affect me, I love my unhookers, just like the 80 second endurance doesn’t bother me at all either.
I don’t chase the unhooked, only sometimes randomly run into them, and that’s up to 80 seconds that they aren’t doing objectives.
Some matches I’ve been in as survivor I’ve seen where this is needed by some killers now. So I like it

I agree, I like the changes. I'm sure if it's not enough they'll eventually tweak it
