The pre-game lobby is the cause of many matchmaking issues
Due to how the pre game lobby works, killer players can dodge lobbies if they see a squad they feel will be too difficult. Survivors also have the option to leave and join a new lobby if they want to. But, this creates the issue of "backfilled" players that are far outside of the lobbies actual average MMR.
Not only this, but since lobbies allow killers to see who they're facing, they can equip lightborn to counter flashlights, survivors can last second switch, etc. It also allows the killer to anticipate the amount of saves that will happen and prevent saves accordingly.
Removing lobbies but instead adding a "match accept" system, where you accept the match, then you get 20 seconds to change your builds, and then you're put right into the loading screen would massively decrease time survivors and killers have to wait in lobby, and improve matchmaking as a whole.
One thing is that this would make the game a little more "depersonalized", the only time you'd see the other team would be ingame and in the post game screen. It would also make it so you can't type to fellow survivors during lobby. Perhaps adding some form of "pregame screen" where you get to see the team of survivors for a few seconds before the match starts could help against this feeling. Kind of like the Dota 2 screen where it shows the team before a match, if anyone's familier. The last survivor Mori they're thinking of adding will kind of be a similar effect to "close out the match" as killer.
What do you all think? Removing lobbies would mean faster matches, more time ingame and less time in lobby and in queue, and better matchmaking due to no backfill. Plus no more countering items, or last second switches.

Eh...
On one hand, yes. I already dodge 'ready' lobbies, as these tend to either be full 4man SWFs, backfilled lobbies or backfilled 4man SWF lobbies. Too many bad, bad experiences where I'm put up against a SWF with over 10k hours between them who bring 3x further hook offerings and a map offering rather than flans.
On the other hand, nothing is going to make me play out a game with a 4man with names like 'usuckuninstall' 'toxicsmurf3' 'imakenubsquit' 'urbadlol'. Letting me dodge that nightmare at least means they won't have to deal with my...uh, sudden, unforeseen internet issues.

Personally as someone that just clicks find match and tab out until I hear the match start, I'd love it if it just skipped the lobby. Probably an unpopular opinion though, that's for sure.
And yeah backfilling issues really need to be fixed. Pretty sure the devs have stated they're aware of it and want to improve it. While I totally get that any matchmaking system is basically a dance between "quality" and speed, it should really chill out a little bit as lobbies where 3 of the survivors originally there get replaced and 2 killers come and go very often end up being clown fiestas.

It's a 4vs1. The killer should have the chance to prepare accordingly.
After all, he can't switch killers in the lobby.

Pretty much this here! But, dodging lobbies is indeed not good for the community as you are basically throwing the next killer, whos MMR and skill level is most likely severely underprepared to the lobby even you dodged, in front of the wolves.
Its proven to be more effective to start the match, and then during the loading screen when the offerings are burned to just close the game. Sure, this will take a minute or two, till you are in a new game, but it will also yeet everyone out and no backfilling will happen. This is scummy in its own way, ngl, but I have been bullied into oblivion way too often in order to care for the fun I denied a bully squad. I probably punished a few cool people this way, but I bet money on it that I was more often right then wrong with my gutfeeling.

Trust me, you don't players with ISPs like mine to not have a lobby where they can see if they get to play, or if they magically have 600 ping out of nowhere.
If that's maintained, sure, but honestly I think the root cause of why certain lobbies are dodged should be addressed instead.

Perhaps the accept screen could have a small section showing the ping and you'd have the option to decline the match with no penalty?
Then if everyone accepted, 20 seconds to finish loadout. If you already have loadout, you can select "Ready" just like in lobby, and then the match starts when the 20s are up or after everyone readies up.
That's exactly the thing, this kind of dodging is what creates long lobby/queue times and backfilled lobbies that are not evenly matched.
If anything, what BHVR should do is add features that reduce toxicity, like a way to surrender after gens are done for killer, or gates are open. And a way to prevent being bled for 4 minutes after everyone is slugged, or as the last survivor, etc. That's a better solution to toxic players than dodging.

Honestly, the only changes I'd really like to see are opponent ping and the map. Give me a chance to not play if you're going to give me Lery's on Nurse or RPD on any killer. And give me a chance to not play if my opponent has McDonald's wifi ping (or finally make it so having terrible connection isn't an advantage)

You’re actually strengthening the argument for killers not seeing survivors in lobbies.

Why is it necessary for the killer to see the survivors in the lobby? The game would work perfectly find if they didn’t.

Forbidding survivors to have a pre-chat and see what the others are bringing is yet again an other nerf to solo q that wouldn't impact swf at all. Also if killers are willing to dodge SWF and get back into a 5min queue they won't mind getting a 5min DC penalty once they load into the game and wish they had dodged.

The choice to have a random backfill system was entirely BHVR's. Players dodging is not the problem, BHVR's choices are.

No thank you. I rather keep the ability to dodge fresh accounts with no other games but dbd.

It's a 4vs1. Killer can't switch to Plague, if he sees 4 medkits. Killer is at the number disadvantage here and ideally can prepare for the match.

But killer enjoys a bunch of other innate advantages during the match, such as being immune to elimination. Just because it’s 4v1 doesn’t mean it’s necessary they see the survivors in advance.
It would be interesting to see stats on how many killers actually bother to change loadouts in the lobby based on what they see. Obviously some people do it but I suspect most don’t bother.

Killers should see survivors, survivors should not be able to switch items in the last 15 seconds of the lobby timer.
Done.

RPD is actually really fun on trapper with iridescent stone. Other than that it's a bit of a pain on anything else.

We just got 3 different loadouts that can be switched easily.
It's obvious, that killers can prepare for the match. Just like survivors could do during the lobby. With the chat.

I'd love to actually have it taken a step further in the current direction and be able to see if people are in a SWF in the lobby so that I can prepare and put on appropriately strong perks and addons but it'll never happen because people would dodge like mad and abuse it with anti-solo queue perks like Knock Out.

I very like the idea of this post to optimize lobbies for mmr.
your point to dodge toxic swfs I can understand but on the other side why should a survivor wants to go against killer with names like „bleedout forever“, „tunnler no.1“, „toxictrash“, „endless thana legion“, „afk“, „makesurvsdc“ or „facecamping bubba“…

Moot point when survivors can't even see the killers name until the game is over.
