Devs need to play some solo q before the nerfs go out
Ok we get it survivors are strong... IF THEY ARE IN A SWF and can call out where the killer is at all times. If you are playing solo q it's pretty balanced right now. The issue is swf vs solo q, not survivor vs killer. I'd love to see these devs play solo q and see how much they "dominate" the killers all the games since survivors are so strong.
It isn't rare to see survivors getting stomped and 4ked with only 3 gens done in a solo q game. This would never happen in a swf unless they weren't trying.

I think the issue is matchmaking. I have 2k hours and, sometimes, I'm paired with people who have under 50 hours. I can clearly see we don't have the same experience.
It's fine to be a new player. I was one two years ago. But I'm expecting people with similar experience than me to be with and against me.
But let's see how it works during the PTB.

Give the killers an option to play against 4 soloQ survivors for 1/2 BP or against SWF groups (2x/3x/4x BP depending on the team size), just so that killers might recharge their killer instinct after getting tilted by a bully squad, or at least know what they get themselves into if they like the challenge.

It's probably going to play out like when Undying released. There will be a fee months of slaughter, a dip in player numbers and then they'll nerf some stuff.

You're right, the biggest problem is matchmaking, but I don't think that will ever work properly. The least the Devs can do is give solo q survivor information similar to SWF, it won't fix how ######### solo q is but I'm sure it would help a little.

I dont see how killers choosing to go against solo or swf helps solo q survivors in any way?

IMO these changes are needed. Playing a M1 killer that's considered low tier often has a really bad time and too often killers have to stack gen stall perks just to have a fair chance.
Once these go through even low tier killers would have better games. Killers are suppose to be the power role and feel like they're a real threat. Lately this gamehas been just a survivor play ground.
What about the strongest killers like nurse, blight, spirit, etc? They can be toned down.

matchmaking is as random as before bc not even the best/ really good survivors are @ high MMR
they probably should factor in hours/ time played? if they could?
plus a casual & ranked mode would be better so everyone in the lobby is playing w/ same mindset

2 modes a casual and ranked will never happen. Sweat lords would still go to casual mode, plus queue times would actually increase.

The random nature leads to some harsh and bitter losses at the hand of click-heavy bully squads, and the pend up rage then unloads against the next baby group of soloQ survivors thrown at the killer, who get slaughered mercilessly, because you can never judge whats coming your way, and before you can shift gears they might be dead.
If you knew that you were up against soloQs, you might go in with a much more lenient mindset, trying to 2 hook everyone and having an overall fun game. I honestly think that a lot of the miserable experience from soloQ survivors is stemming from the abuse suffered from bullies.

Matchmaking is not the issue. If you take 4 players and remove their comms and take the exact same 4 players and give them comms is there going to be a huge difference in their win rate? Of course there is. The issue is the game is balanced around no comms, but many people run comms. So now they think killers are weak, which they are vs a swf. But they are definitely not weak vs a solo q team.

I'm pretty sure this upcoming update will make a lot of players quit (mostly solo). They'll probably try to revert some changes afterwards, but will it be enough to bring people back? Who knows?
Edit- I know I won't be coming back. All of this just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Kinda how I feel, solo's quit, killers get more swf, kill rates go down more.

That's like saying killers were always strong, it's not exclusive to nurse and blight. Which is false.
A nurse is to a SWF the same a trapper is to solo.

That is no where near saying killers were always strong. Any person knowing the history of dbd knows that within the past year and a half is when it started becoming slightly tolerable. Killers are different in their powers, survivors are just clone of each other with varying skill levels. A good swf can still 2 out vs a very good nurse with 2-4 slowdown on a map that favors them. The whole issue with solo q is that you can't guarantee what you're teammates are doing which you can in an SWF.

now that you mention it, i was hoping to see some changes regarding the survivor icons so that solos can see what their teammates are doing. wasnt that mentioned a few Q&As back? and they've gone radio silent on it. since i dont expect them to ever get rid of swfs, buffing solo queue as much as possible and then balancing the game around that will be much better imo.

I wouldn't even call it "buffing solo q". It's more like giving basic info that literally every other competitive multiplayer game gives. This game obviously started as a casual horror survival game, but has become more serious (they added mmr, they are worried about meta perks) so they need to treat it that way.

They can buff solo q so many times but it won’t stop players for throwing games or just being plain bad. Honestly these changes will make survivors play more better instead of being pampered like babies

I mean people need to adapt, should all games be like Mario with only a jump button? When do we stop balancing for bad players or do you want the games to play for themselves?

The devs clearly never play their own game, otherwise some their choices in the last few years wouldn't have happened. Who seriously thinks half of the nerf/buffs are actually good?

Not many that I've seen. Most people seem to think some of these nerfs and buffs went too far. I really believe this is seriously going to hurt the game.

The point of this patch is for solo queue to fuel the desired increase in kill rates though. They know what they're doing.
Last anniversary stream they had a whole thing on how swfs have a higher escape rate than solos, that solos are more likely to be left on hook when matched with swfs, etc. They proposed changes to boost solos up a bit, closer to swf level. Never happened, and nothing was mentioned in this year's stream.
So what changed in the past 12 months? IMO, Circle of Healing. It boosted survival rates, and two nerfs hasn't stopped it from being a staple in swf team builds. Killers were understandably unhappy. So best way to increase kill rates now? Weaken solo and make them easier to kill.

I mean if it's balanced when survivors are wildly less skilled than killer, that's clearly a problem.
even soloQ will be hell for the killers as long as all of them are actually skilled enough, which doesn't happen often though.
Why care about it when nothing fix it anyway?
there will be slight compensation through certain mechanics, but there is no reason to balance things around solo q players, as it doesn't matter anyway.

And game can actually be balanced around people who knows about the game, rather than extremely casual players which inflate kill rates a lot?

Not really, It's just that no matter how many buff they get solo q gonna get easily wiped out due to the players itself.
In a sense, it's same as low tier killers and high tier killers, but sadly all survivors share same traits regardless of sqf/soloq and technically it's pure skill difference rather than stats difference which can be fixed by tweaking things.

Something as basic as kindred basekit would already be a big improvement.

Between match making, survivors killing themself on first hook or DCing, players just throwing for challenges solo queue really needs some help. I don't agree it will be a big improvement but any little bit helps.
