first two matches of dredge went horribly
i havent played killer in about half a year due to university, so when the new killer came out over summer break i thought heck yea, someone who looks cool to try and learn. i dont know if its because its the anniversary or something but my first two matches in half a year, playing as a new killer, were absolutely horrible. is it because my MMR is higher than how i can play right now because im rusty? do i need to throw matches to get games on my present 'rating' instead of playing at the level i was before? is there not MMR decay for these situations?

It's probably that your MMR needs to settle into a new spot, and that matchmaking right now is borked. I'm having literally instant survivor queues, and killer queues creeping up on 6 minutes.
Probably because the event archive is much easier on killer and you earn 3x the flans, which is silly.
Don't throw, just focus on practicing and getting a feel for things again.
You'll pick up Dredge fast.

You can't expect to come back and perform well.
Keep trying, learn from your mistakes and don't let it get you down.
MMR will adjust and put you where you need to be.

Dredge is a bit nuanced and has some mid-hard counterplay options against both aspects of his power.
Keep playing and focus on learning the optimal uses of his mechanics...Anecdotally, I don't care if 20 people in a row escape if I'm learning a killer...Without a training mode, sometimes I have to force certain interactions/throw to see how they work in-game.
