Double Standards are ruining the dbd community.
Honestly at this point I am tired to even think about this.
Dead By Daylight has been a game which honestly gave me many good memories through the years.
From day 1 until today, I noticed that double strandards never leave the community.
New players become so obsessed with the character they main, and no offense but I do understand it.
I was in that spot to and it took me 1k hours to realise how playing both sides make a better DBD player.
I obviously do not play both sides as much anymore but I have came to the point where I do understand the struggles that both sides face.
CASE 1:
I had a match as a spirit against a 4swf that send me to The Game Map and all had a boil over build.
I got maximum 4-5 hooks and when I did they tried to sabo, flashlight,or save right on my face.
On the end game chat I was called a camper.
I have 4 survivors in front of me,I am sorry but I will not pretend that I can not see you because you want to unhook before I even leave.
They didn't even touch a gen after.
So how exactly I camped or tunnel when half of the game I couldn't even hook them?
They told me that I am unfun and well did they think of my own fun as a killer? No.
Honestly what was I supposed to do? Let them Have it?
CASE 2 :
As a survivor I had this game where torwards the end I clicked with my flashlight on the killer.
Backstory : My teammate was really close to the killer,he was last hook and had trap on his head, exit gates where open and he had one last box but the killer was near by.
So...I distracted the killer, pretending to be ''toxic'' (as most describe it)
And it actually worked.Killer chase me all the way to the exit gate and I gave my teammate time to heal, remove the trap and escape.
I was called toxic and trash, and that I clicky clicky is all my skill( along with how I should kms.)
Was I really toxic? Maybe the killer should ask himself...why the ######### she's clicky clicky?Cause wholegame I never clicked.
There are many ways ,this killer could avoid that.
But in my mind it was the smartest thing to do and it worked.
.............................
So now that I adressed both scenarios of toxicity.
- you have a 4swf and make a build where the killer gets zero hooks
-The killer can slug
It sounds to me they are both game strategies.
- You use DS
-The killer use noed
both helpfull perks.
-You can farm your teammate in front of the killer.
-Killer can tunnel.
And if a survivor does one mistake killer can take advantage of it. If killer makes a mistake survivor can take advantage of it.
We both want to have fun and if one game doesn't work for us,the next will.
Now I am not new, I know many timed you will have 10 bad games in a row,to play 1 that's worth your time.
And that sucks, and we blame the other side.
But is really the player itself we should blame?
Seeing really good survivors matching with survivors with less experience is painfull.
Seeing killer match with more experienced players is painfull.
But also less experienced survivors matching with 5k hours killer is painfull.
Should I honestly get upset over someone camping ?
Should I actually kill myself because I used noed?
Should my mother die because I run dead hard?
Like is anything wrong with all these? The are strategies, and game animations, that are given to you.
Some of them might be less fun,I strongly agree.
But after all one side had fun.
Next time it will be you.
You can't ask me not to run DS if you tunneled me whole game.
You can't ask me not run NOED if you run DS.
I am not asking you to jump in a lobby and think about MY fun and NOT yours.
I am asking to learn the game better before you tell someone off because what they do,YOU think is a mistake.
Survivors are supposed to team work,so do team work for everyone to have fun and to improve your survivor skills.Risking is not always bad and remember giving a hook for your fellow teammate is actually a smart thing to do.What you doing with those hooks? Keeping them for next game ?
And Killers you work alone, take advantage of the time given to you ,wisely.Do not commit as much if you do not have time and make sure survivors are kept busy with other things and not doing gens .
If you think you are losing, take the time you have to practise the killer you playing or looping as a survivor.
We all define a win and a loss diffrentely. But we are all here because deep inside we love this game.
So let's think about changes that WOULD MAKE DEAD BY DAYLIGHT A BETTER GAME.
and NOT what would make MY survivor experience more pleasant or MY killer experience.
We need to look at the whole picture and we need to remove those double standards because will chose a side?
You chose a side?
Well you won't play anymore if the other side is not having fun :)
Just be respectful and think before you speak.
Honestly DBD became fun when I stopped looking only MY side.
Good luck next games ❤️❤️❤️

Its sadly human nature. We all could benefit from a bit more compassion, especially since this here is a recreational game and the other side is a human, just like you yourself, but many players, especially the younger ones, I recon (but dont quote me on that one) get a high on living their power fantasy and stomping and humiliating the opposition.
Whenever I stomp a "toxic SWF" group (you know the ones) I say something like "gg. But please reflect on your toxic ways.", but they either leave before reading it or respond in some immature way, the best you could hope for is a "lol, wut? Are you tripping? We are just having harmless fun. Get lost".
Most survivors play little to no killer, so they got no real perspective. All they see is the opposition that wants to kill them, but thats actually their plaything, not another human who just struggles against hope with the mechanics that are stacked against them.

No point in only playing one side imo. It just gets frustrating quickly without having a change of pace

The first thing I'd recommend is to not pay attention to the end-game chat. Sometimes you get some nice, wholesome messages - but generally speaking, there's a lot of salt in there.
The thing is, humans are naturally competitive and regardless of what people say, killers want to "win" by hooking/killing, and survivors want to "win" by escaping. This natural reaction to gaming/competitiveness is just exacerbated by BM'ing and generally showing off, which in turn makes the other side feel annoyed and like the game is unfair/unbalanced. When people don't "win", they look for ways to blame the other side and try and say there was some injustice in the gameplay.
I think the biggest problem is that many people play one side exclusively. For example, survivor "mains" who never play killer can only see the gameplay from one point of view, and the same goes for people who only play killer. There are glaring problems with game design on both sides, and I think if more people were open to playing both killer and survivor they'd have a greater appreciation for the difficulties for each role.

I am more of a Killer main only because until they fix soloQ a bit my survivors are stuck in low MMR hell and can't get out thanks to "allies" leaving me to die on hook, unhook when the killer is 5 inches away, or won't heal or somehow BM me because they had to rescue me....
But when I play Killer I play to have fun and let others have fun by being semi serious but silly. Like when I play Demo, who I can easily go toe to toe with decent non toxic 4 man's, will go hard but if I walk up to you fully ready to shred but don't I want head pats and if I get them I open a portal and leave. Or bend my head down and walk to a pallet to get slammed or hook a person and nod to a survivor to unhook them

I don’t think it’s wrong to ‘main’ something. Just be mindful that you lack core information and understanding to core mechanics. I can’t not describe myself as a Killer main, because I’ve got every Killer, Killer perk, and consistently play Killer. I have one P3 Feng, half the survivor perks and do not even own every survivor perk, I play survivor a few times a week.
My experience/knowledge of a survivor perk is from the experience of receiving end of the survivor perk and information I read online, not from actually using it, so if I decide to comment on a subject on these forums, I’ll usually preface it with ‘I’m a Killer Main’, just so everyone knows to take my opinion on a survivor perk with a grain of salt. I’m not trying to be cringe.

yes the us vs them argument is very tiresome. Sad part is that I think some who play into that dont understand it and others bait it.

too long, could you make it shorter.

Nah but I can make it longer. If it's too long and your reading skills do not go as far,I am sure that with practice, you will imporve your reading skills.
