Thoughts on a Backrooms inspired chapter?
Are you all familiar with the backrooms? Specifically the YouTube series by Kane Pixels/ Kane Parsons with his interpretation and take on it?

I think this series would make a great map and killer for DBD. The weird industrial and yellow carpeted zones being a map with that howling thing chasing you down could make for quite a scary and awesome chapter. Anyone agree?

I remember making a post about this before and I bet a few others have. People said that it would be too repetitive but the eerieness would be nice.

I like it a lot. Theres a bunch you could do with it. Like slender its most likely got some hurdles to jump through though. Also I think the default creature is a bit dull and the creepiest aspect of it is the mimicry. Which imo wouldnt translate well into dbd.
Edit: after I thought about it for a bit I think the mimicry might translate well into the TR.

It doesnt have to be repetitive though. There are several sectors within the backrooms.

Of course. There just needs to be a main building or any sort of landmark. They're all indoor maps so that's a plus for killers.

I think the idea of a killer that mimics the survivors/environment would be cool but it wouldn't work in dbd. That power would be useless against people with headsets.

Theres an area that looks like a small subdivision with 2 tunnels on either end. If they make it small and the houses packed in tight I think it could work as a center. Then you could have other offshoots be the weird locations connected by the yellow backrooms.
Theres one in particular that I liked that was trying to emulate the outside wall of a building filled with windows. That ones creepy to me for some reason.

Unfortunately, there's the issue with finding the person that originally created the concept. Didn't the whole thing originate from a 4chan post?

yup exactlly what i said to the op. Same issue slender kind of has.

It doesnt mimic them. It mimics their voices, badly. Its a horror aspect not something to be translated into gameplay. Its awesome. Now that I've thought about it maybe it could be incorporated into its TR?

Though people just make games about it anyways and take creative liberties. The best I can think of is that they do research on the wiki and make something of that and perhaps talk to a few of the admins.

Its definitely possible for them to get it into dbd. Ultimately depends how much the devs want to put time into figuring out how to license it in properly. It would have an insane draw considering how hot of a topic it is right now in internet horror right now.

I never considered the issues with the original Creator but other games exist that are paid so it seems possible

Would love to see that, same goes to SCP but I guess the chances for that are pretty slim.

Ah yes another indoor map. Because they’re the best and not filled with either safe pallets every 5 steps or extremely unsafe pallets every 5 feet removing any time of mindgames and just revolving around throwing pallet simulator.
