Why so many survivors immediately surrendering or DCing?
Why is it becoming always more popular that survivors now surrender immediately or DC?
Especially in the late afternoon/ early evening, so many throwers!
Do you have any theory on why this is happening?

DBD has gotten to the point in solo queue where I don't care about escaping I just wanna meme around and if it gets me killed early oh well. Gotta make the game fun myself otherwise it's a boring sweatfest.

- They hate the map they landed on
- They don't like the killer they face (most of the cases)
- They got downed first, the AUDACITY of the killer to find them first
Basically anything that doesn't go their way is a dc

Possible reasons: teammate sandbagged them at start of match so they don't feel like continuing, they're on hook and see teammates not doing anything across the map, teammates let them go to second state when killer wasn't camping, they don't like the killer for whatever reason or have faced same killer multiple times, they don't like the map for whatever reason, they're trying to do gold emblem unbroken challenge or some other challenge and don't think they'll be able to get it done that match, something irl, they're a streamer doing stream loots cards and viewers played one telling them to attempt escape/don't struggle, they're just mad/rage quitting, or some other reason I couldn't think of.

These are some of my reasons.
-I get a Pinhead. (I'm a solo survivor)
-I get a Nurse and I'm just not in the mood for a sweaty game in that moment.
-I get a Legion and I'm not in the mood for a Mend simulator that will last 35 minutes.
-I will also die go next if my teammates are useless and are not competent enough to make it worth my time.

- Devoid of self-confidence.
- Have no sense of competitiveness.
- Only play when everything is stacked in their favour.
- Too fragile to accept to lose (not understanding that giving up is worse)
Pick one.

Recently awful teammates is why I've been giving up
Killers appreciate an easy kill

I can only speak for myself but as someone who only does solo q these are the reasons I will give up:
I spawn in and someone fast vaults near me right away;
Someone is using a flashlight macro and spamming it at me;
Someone drops a pallet randomly without in being in chase;
Someone keeps missing skill checks;

Not sure this counts as an immediate surrender, but if my teammates don't come to save me when the killer isn't facecamping me i'm not going to bother struggling during 2nd phase. And if they're not coming but also not doing anything, or crouch / walking from the other side of the map to me i'll attempt the 4% and speed up the entity's process.

WHY SO MANY KILLERS IMMEDIATELY SURRENDERING?
1 -
As Solo I surrender once I believe the match is already lost or if I face Nurses and Legions (Twins is insta-DC, the moment I hear Victor releasing cue I quit, I prefer the 5 minute ban).

Maybe because they don't like the killer they're facing, they have done that against me when playing Legion several times, and sometimes when I play Doctor.
2 -
Because they can, really.
Make penalties harsh and remove hook suicide, game will be much more healthier.
3 -
And thats why the game is so bad for most of the players.
Because people like you either DC or throw the game since you only care about YOUR fun.

I mean I spent money on the game. Gonna have fun lmao. Ah, yes, I miss when you could mess around and games and have a good time. Not DBD tho

I'll be honest i'll go to the killer and see if they're willing to farm a bit if someone's dc'd for no apparent reason, like after being downed once.. and we have a few hooks already and literally no gens done. If they hit me and chase i'll just try to play out the game, some BP is better than none. Purposefully dc'ing just sucks, leaving the remaining players in an even worse situation.

"Especially in the late afternoon/early evening..." People coming home from a grinding day of hard work, trying to get some R&R, only to find out tryhards ruining their gameplay?
4 -
Why not ?
Why would they stay if they know they aren't going to have fun?
They just want to move on to the next game
0 -
Exactly
2 -
Because this game is a 1v4, not a 1v1, and if you DC/surrender, and if you don't accept losing and decide to quit early you're ruining other 3 people's fun.

Survivors are not having fun with Dead by Daylight anymore.
The developers listen to the killers telling them they aren't having fun and have tried to fix it, yet let the same old problems that survivors have always had since the beginning of the game fester and get worse. Almost every other game has turned into face-camping at gen 5 or tunneling at gen 5. That's straight up not fun.

I’m a killer main and I lose all respect for people who ragequit.
4 -
I just don't get why those people still playing the game and DC when it's not fun at all.
1 -
"Force people to play matches they aren't enjoying" great idea!! That'll definitely make the game healthier!
3 -
huh? people can still leave, just that it hits harder.

Yeah sure make penalties harsh and remove hook suicide but do nothing about facecamp, being facecamped or on ground bleeding for several minutes doing nothing is peak gameplay, if anything they should let us suicide on ground too, it needs to be fun for both sides or people will go play something else you know

DBD is fun for players if the game is fair.
You get face-camped at gen 5 and then you see the game as unfair. You go to another game and get face-camped at gen 5, you get angry and disconnect.
Sure there are a few people disconnecting because they had a bunch of bad games in a row, the house catches fire or they woke up in a bad mood. But there's a lot more DCs and suicides than what is normal. I think you can see the increase in the number of forum posts about face-camping and tunneling at gen 5. About every other game now, I'm seeing face-camping or tunneling at gen 5.
Video game players expect a game to be fair and right now, they don't see DbD as fair.

Because.
It's a Holiday event with MASSIVE BP Bonus's then you get a random Sweaty try hard killer main that thinks they have to 4k every game, and they slug at 5 gens.

"Survivors are not having fun with Dead by Daylight anymore."
Killer players:
1 -
There are two reasons I do it. One my team is doing nothing while I dangle on a hook. Or two I've had a lot of frustrating matches and I hit my breaking point and am done for the evening.
0 -
It's been like this for months though, it's pretty common for the first down or hook to just DC and leave the other players in a losing, unfun game.
0 -
A good chunk of survivors quit when they find out the killer isn't a newb who can easily be bullied.
2 -
It always feels very grating to be the first survivor found during a match and then, through a dumb blunder, be going down immediately. But as a survivor you can always bounce back and be in the thick of it. Heck, I even had a game were the Trickster immediately tunneled me after the unhooking and I was on death hook about 1min into the game.
My teammates still got me off the hook and we even managed a 4E, I just had to play veeeery carefully and save after that one. And earlier today I had a Myers camping me on hook for 4 gens till my mates got me off. One of them died in the process, but still.
So really, there is absolutely no reason to throw the game, just play as best as you can and if you still go down at least you didn't hand the bad killer an easy game.
